Save Your Sanity - Help for Toxic Relationships

233

The Save Your Sanity podcast offers episodes filled with the expert insights, validation, strategies, and support you need to recognize, manage, and recover from relationships with the relentlessly difficult, toxic--and often disturbing--people that host Dr. Rhoberta Shaler calls Hijackals®.

She offers invaluable help to stop the second-guessing, undermining, and crazy-making traits, patterns, and cycles you have encountered in relationships with folks like those. Understand the ways, whys, and hows that verbal abuse, emotional abuse, and spiritual abuse affect you over time. Whether the Hijackal is a partner, parent, ex, or colleague, what you will learn here will strengthen and empower you to step up, speak up, and stand up for yourself in healthy, assertive ways.

Many Hijackals have behaviors that are considered the same as those who are diagnosed as narcissists, borderlines, psychopaths, sociopaths, and histrionic personality disorder. These insights will help you to make the changes--and good decisions--to move from pain to power, and that's exactly what you want to do! Listen now.

Excellent, thank you! I wish I had found you earlier but having gone through an intense and insane situation I see now what was happening to me, what a pawn I was being made into, and why I could never do enough no matter how much I did. Thank you for laying out the hijackal landscape so clearly and thoroughly and without explaining away the hijackals actions. So many podcasts want to talk about the hijackals trauma causing their behavior. I’ve heard it time and again. It’s sickening. But I’m with you—who cares! I didn’t break them, I don’t have to fix them.

Thank you!!!! You are helping me so much!
Wow….I have “ awakened “ after being in a toxic marriage for 39 years with a Narcissist. This podcast along with my private Therapist are both significantly helping me to navigate my journey to personal freedom, happiness, and health. Thank you….thank you…thank you. You take a deeply complex subject matter and remove the fog to help me to see so clearly now what I failed to see for so many years! I am learning that one is never too old to seek joy and happiness, and to leave a Narcissist!

I’m so glad I found you!
I’ve just found your podcast today. You speak truth with clarity. I am married to a hijackel. After 20 painful years I finally left my marriage just last Friday (one day before my 65th birthday) with the help of my son. Once a professional Executive Banker, I’ve been beat down and broken to the point of having a lack of desire to live. With the help and assurance of my siblings and son/daughter in law, I will rebuild myself for the remainder of my life. Thank you.

    Am I wrong?
I enjoy listening to mental health podcasts. Normally they have plenty of good advice. But why is it she sounds as if she’s speaking from experience but still hurting?

    Pretty Sad
You talk about financial abuse and then ask people to pay 97 for an hour? How much is it regularly? Just another kick in the teeth to women and men that desperately need help from someone who understands... but literally doesn’t care. It’s sad.

    Great guidance for understanding
Came across this podcast while going through a very emotional and confusing time, and it’s been super helpful in highlighting lots of things that got overshadowed by past trauma that I couldn’t see clearly. It really feels like someone understands and can guide you to see more transparently and get through the difficult time in a toxic relationship. So thank you!

    Eyes wide open
This podcast exposes the behavior of narcissists ( “hijackals”) and helps the listener see both the behavior & what’s driving it. But what’s even more important is that Rhoberta also exposes all the ways that those who are the partner, employee, sibling or adult child of the hijackal unconsciously enable them. She absolutely nails the balance between being clear & direct, while also being accepting & compassionate. A bingeworthy podcast for anyone dealing narcissistic behavior of someone close to them.

Noticing the Facial Signs - a PTSD survivor Amber DeAnn
I loved the science of facial coding recognition introduced by Dr Hill. I intuitively used it in my childhood to escape a beating from my anger addicted Mom. The facial change was a shift in her energy field which opening the curtain to her feelings and helped me get away. It is a life saving technique for everyone living with an abusive person. Thanks so much Rhoberta and Dr Hill for sharing your knowledge.
