Medicine #158

We quickly realized we knew very little about hematology and oncology when we started fellowship. Our goal is to bring you the fundamentals, core concepts and important management approaches in our field, driven by the latest evidence and expert opinion. In each episode, we will provide bite-sized, simplified approaches to common questions in a way that is perfect for anyone interested in hematology and oncology, from students and trainees to advanced practice providers and practicing physicians.

    Exceptionally good.
An exceptionally good podcast. The amount of background work, the wonderfully organized presentation, and the effortless breaking down complex concepts in a way trainees and practicing hematologists and oncologists can easily understand, is commendable. One of the best, if not the best, medical podcasts.

    Great resource!
I’m a second year heme Onc fellow and really wish I would have found this in residency or first year! This is definitely my favorite audio form of heme/Onc education. I really appreciate how they review the basics before building on with more advanced knowledge. It’s providing a better foundation than my haphazard learning in random clinics in fellowship. I can’t wait for them to add more solid tumor topics

    Grateful hematology intern
This podcast was extremely helpful! As an intern, this information was easy to understand but also very useful for my hematology rotation. I feel much more confident in my ability to triage and work up different patient presentations thanks to the fellows on call :)

Outstanding resource for hematology oncology fellows
Episodes are short enough to digest easily but detailed enough that I learn something every time. Keep up the great work!

    Invaluable resource for hem/onc fellows
First off, shameless plug for the guys leading this podcast. I had the opportunity to work with them during residency and they are fantastic teachers all around. I’m now a first year hem/onc fellow, and the amount of information to learn in oncology can be very overwhelming. Unfortunately a lot of lectures I’ve attended in fellowship so far jump quickly into the minutia, and it’s easy to get lost before you have a basic framework for how to approach different cancer types. This podcast does the opposite. They go back to basics and teach the fundamentals before going through the basic treatment of different malignancies. The episodes are also about 30 minutes each and easy to listen to on the drive to/from work. Highly recommend this to any fellow or resident interested in hem/onc!

Awesome- Made by Trainees for Trainees
What an great podcast that truly has its finger on the pulse of what internal medicine residents want and need to know about Hematology and Heme Path. The Fellow on Call helps to bridge the gap between diagnostics/pathophysiology and clinical medicine. These concise, clinically relevant episodes are perfect for both trainees and those, like myself, who are out of my medicine training and eager to further my understanding of hematology in the ever-sub-specializing world of IM. Very excited for more content!
