The Headache Doctor Podcast

Even after trying medication, lifestyle changes, and other “research-backed treatments” for migraine symptoms, does nothing feel like it’s really solving the issue?

The Headache Doctor Podcast is on a mission to provide education and empower everyone with headaches and migraines to break FREE from a life of fear and dependence so that they can THRIVE in everything they do.

Dr. Taves, founder of the podcast and owner of Novera: Headache Center believes you deserve to feel in control of your health again — with more symptom-free days and less worry over when the next migraine will hit. Physical therapy for the neck at his clinic has decreased headache and migraine symptoms for hundreds of people.

Each week he dives into a topic related to headaches and migraines, or interviews experts to help you be informed as you manage your headaches and migraines.

P.S. – Outside of this podcast, Dr. Taves has provided superb education in the form of a detailed masterclass with videos which can be found on his website (www.noveraheadachecenter.com). His clinic also provides health coaching for patients out of state, and of course - in person care if you’re in Colorado!

    Excited for more
I found this podcast through the Novera headache clinic and I found it a good balance between technical medical information and understanding the causes behind migraines. I’m excited to keep listening and discover more research about migraine relief and care. Thanks!

    TN Relief
This podcast led me to the Novera clinic where I found complete relief of my Trigeminal Neuralgia shocks. I am pain free and med free and if I do get any irritation I rely on my exercises and knowledge from Novera to ease the flare up.

    A wealth of information
When you are feeling hopeless, helpless and afraid you will spend your life only managing your symptoms with medicine that barely works, this podcast is the light at the end of the tunnel! I look forward to each and every episode. Cheers to many more!

    Deserves Ten Stars
I’ve been suffering with migraines for decades. I know and avoid my triggers. I’ve seen numerous neurologists, but not once has my neck ever been considered as a migraine source. Thanks to Dr. Taves, it turns out that my neck was the missing link for me. Because of this podcast, I’ve addressed the neck with the correct kind of neck stretches, and the frequency of my migraines has gone way down, I stopped my daily preventative meds, and even when I feel the migraine coming, the exercises can stop the migraine cold in its tracks. Thanks so very much Dr. Taves!

    Migrainer for life
This podcast is so helpful! As someone who has Chiari and had suffered debilitating headaches the majority of my adult life, this podcast has shed some new light on the symptoms I have, what to look for, where headaches comes from, in a way that makes sense to non-medical people. This podcast gives me hope and something to learn from. Thank you!!

    Fascinating!!
I’ve suffered from weekly migraines for years and have figured out some of the triggers, but not been able to eliminate them completely. I’ve been researching some more recently to try to get to the bottom of it since I don’t want to rely on Advil to get me through the day (I’m a mom of five boys, 9 and under so I NEED to function!). I came across this podcast and what Dr. Taves is saying makes SO MUCH SENSE. And I super appreciate that in one of the episodes he mentioned how there can be other contributing factors too, like diet. I know that some foods (sugar, gluten, corn) make my headaches more frequent so they definitely play a part. But there was more I couldn’t quite figure out. I am excited to keep listening and seek treatment for my neck. I’m definitely eyeing that SAM device too! 😂

    Giving me hope
This podcast has been the ray of hope I’ve needed the last 5 months. It’s practical, hopeful, positive and makes sense. Finally someone who digs deep into responding to the “why” behind migraines rather than just throwing medication at it. I’ve been suffering from debilitating migraines and vestibular issues following successive bouts of the flu, RSV and Covid this winter. I’ve had to miss work, cancel vacations and miss many gatherings with family and friends. After seeing neurologists, my primary care doctor, an ENT, an eye doctor, a trip to the ER and countless unsuccessful medications, I began to resign myself to the idea that this was just my new normal. It was depressing and there was nothing reassuring online….until my friend suggested this podcast. She listened for a while before making a virtual appt with Dr. Taves. After suffering chronic headaches she’s down to maybe 1 a month. This podcast helped me change my mindset so much that I made a virtual appointment for next week and I couldn’t be more hopeful.

    Immediately stopped my migraines
For years, I had 3-4 migraines a month. I found a system to manage them as soon as I’d feel one coming on, that made it something I could live with, barely, because I didn’t really have a choice. Nothing I tried reduced the frequency. It was during one of the worst migraines I’ve ever had that I went online, found Dr Taves and started listening. Because it’s easier to listen to something in the dark, in bed, when you are suffering from a migraine. I started his simple neck exercises that day, and for a minute or two everyday after. It’s been 18 months and I have NOT had another migraine. I’m not exaggerating. I get headaches from time to time, usually after going several days without doing anything for my neck. A headache is a drop in the bucket after you’ve built the mental fortitude to persevere through years of migraines. I tell every migraine sufferer I know about this podcast. It changed my life! I get all my evenings back with my kids. I’m no longer experimenting with avoiding certain foods or freaking out if I forget my water bottle because it might be the thing that tips me to have a migraine. Dr. Taves - THANK YOU for all the time you have invested to understand migraines, and for making your research available to everyone through this podcast! ❤️

    So informative!
As a twenty year chronic migraine patient at the Cleveland Clinic, I thought I knew it all. Even I’m learning a thing or two! Great info for anyone who suffers from headaches & migraine.

    Great information!
I have received treatment at Novera and have been without migraines for over 7 months! Drs. Taves and Stoerzbach provide great information on this podcast and have a totally different and non-medication based treatment. Their physical therapy approach is safe and non-woowoo.

    Good podcasts!
I have been treated at Novera and what once was a daily migraine is now a rare occurrence. These podcasts are very helpful and I’ve listened to most of them.

    Crazy
He’s a physical therapist not a neurologist. Blaming all headaches and migraines on the neck, great way to build his business.

Neck Pain isn’t always the answer
I’m a little annoyed that this doctor is stressing neck pain as essentially the cause of most headaches/ migraines. While there is some interesting information about referred pain and headache triggers, he always goes back to the neck. This isn’t helpful for many people who don’t have headaches/migraines due to neck issues, and it would have been better if he just left the one or two episodes about the possibility of neck issues and focused on the many other very real issues that can plague people with chronic head and facial pain.

    Never needed a podcast more!
It never even occurred to me to look for a podcast that discusses headaches/neck pain. I’ve literally tried everything - & am still depending on Tylenol/Naproxen/Rizatriptan almost daily. SO happy I found this—have a feeling i’ll learn a lot! Neck tension ✔️ Referred pain ✔️ Joint immobility ✔️SCM muscle constantly painful ✔️ This is *RIGHT* up my alley. Thank you!!!!

    Education & life changing!
Love Dr. Taves’ mission to help people truly thrive and live without fear as they become migraine free through his treatments! This podcast helps with the education side of treatment and the “why” behind migraines. Highly recommend giving it a listen and recommend even more making an appointment to see him in person for treatment - it truly changed my life!
