Last Seen Alive

172

Last Seen Alive is a true crime podcast that exists to bring public attention to unsolved cases that need it. It's researched, written and hosted by Crime Analyst Leah Owens, and co-hosted by Scott Owens. Recognizing that the right piece of information can sometimes be the difference between a cold case and resolution, each episode presents listeners with a specific case--often one they've never heard of before. Cases covered include unsolved homicides, disappearances and suspicious deaths.

    Meh
Scott has an unpleasant voice and it bothers me so much that I cannot listen any longer. Take some voice lessons and get rid of the scratchy Kermit the Frog voice. Yuck

    5 Stars…Must listen
Congrats on the 5 year anniversary!!! So stoked that this will be a weekly show, hopefully from now to forever!!!

    Please solo
I recently found your show and I enjoy it somewhat. Leah does a great job. Scott adds no value with his dumb questions that just bog down the pace of the story. There are times his attempt at humor are really inappropriate for the situation. Honestly, sometimes it seems Leah is humoring him just to move forward. The show would be so much better as a solo.

Awesome story and very well told by Leah. However the male guest (didn’t catch his name) nearly ruined the story. I think you’d be much better off alone. Great job Leah!

Love it, but some stories end mid sentence.
Is it just me or do some of these stories just end abruptly mid sentence? Was there an error uploading audio? I need to know the end 😂 An example would be Lila and Moses.

    Perfect As Is!
Love the show. Appreciate the great care and effort you put into it. And the two-host format works just fine!

Leah’s voice is just too gloomy. Very depressing podcast

    A great podcast!
This podcast is one of my favorite! I’ve been listening to them from the start and I love all the details given by Leah! Scott is a valuable speaker on the show as well, I was upset to read a previous review saying he has nothing to add (smh). I enjoy the team of Leah & Scott, truly!! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to bringing all the missing people attention and support in hopes to bringing them home someday to their loved ones. The work you both do is incredible 🙏 God Bless

    Outstanding - podcasters are excellent!
I’m an addictive podcast listener. I stumbled upon your podcast when it was mentioned on another popular podcast. I’m struck by a previous reviewer who said Scott doesn’t bring anything to the show is not accurate. There is a terrific balance of emotion, speculation, and realism that can’t be overlooked. Any new listeners go to the episode of Shelley Sikes to start your journey with this podcast. It’s impossible to not feel every emotion that came from both podcasters. Thank you for your hard work. This is absolutely worth every minute of my time.

    One of my favorites
I just came across this podcast last year. I love Leah’s soft, calming voice. I think Scott is funny and adds just enough to the podcast to keep me entertained (as much as one can be when regarding horrific crimes). This is actually my second favorite crime podcast. Keep up the great work Leah and Scott!

One of my very favorite podcasts
I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts yes a lot! I listen to the most streamed and most popular true crime podcasts. You know them. Last Seen Alive is a podcast that I do not miss. Listening to Scott and Leah’s caring voices and heartfelt comments pull me into each episode and then I care, too . I love the cases they choose, and the research they do, the expertise that Leah brings, the quality of podcast Scott engineers and the music and everything. I always listen in hopes I can help. If you have a limited time, I would highly recommend you listen to Last Seen Alive. You will not regret it.

    Please do this solo Leah!!
Really enjoy the show and think Leah does a great job. Would love it if Scott was not part of it however. He adds nothing to the commentary and everything he says is so painfully stupid. Would be much better if Leah did it on her own!!

Listened for 10 min never listening again
I’m sure the host means well but public speaking is not her strong suit. Her delivery is horrendous. The entire tone is just two people reading a piece of paper. I understand the need for a script. But delivery of said script is everything. This delivery is atrocious and unlistenable.
  • Christie Leigh Cook
    Omg at reviewers
It kills me when people complain about “reading a script”. The reader/host is usually the one that wrote it. Don’t y’all remember essays and speaking assignments in school and college? Did you memorize a 30 min to hour speech? I doubt it. To expect her to not have stuff written down is absurd. Plus you need the facts to be correct especially in true crime. So get off hosts back for researching, writing and reading their hard work to us so we can be lazy, do nothing and just listen. Thank you! I actually appreciate you and the hard work you do on these cases and getting their names out there.

    Good cases and cohost interaction
What I like: 1. The host’s voice-she seems so nice, knowledgeable, and intentional. 2. She seems to research her cases. 3. I really like how she engages with her husband. It’s organic. Plus she respects him and it comes through. 4. She narrates a case and he responds unscripted. 5. It seems as though her part is scripted, which I frankly don’t enjoy in any podcast. how much prefer a conversational style. That said, she does a good job in that she’s at least not monotone or long-winded when reading and doesn’t have any cheesy sound effects or music in the background like other shows do. And since her husband isn’t reading off a script, it helps balance it out.

    AGHHHHH!
I have been trying to find true crime podcasts and story’s, and this one is just so perfect I love how Leah is quiet and genuine about it and I also really like Scott’s jokes too!
  • Jarshush
    Ditch the cohost
The host has a pleasant voice and does a good job of delivering the script. Her co-host brings nothing to the program and the show would flow much better without his repetitive and banal remarks. This could be a five-star podcast.
  • Jules726
    Okayyyy!
Just randomly found this podcast a few days ago and I’ve really enjoyed hearing a lot of cases I’ve never heard of, which is saying something bc as a total true crime junkie I’ve heard it all at least twice! I enjoy the narration, research, and chemistry between the co hosts. I also really appreciate the fact that one of the hosts is a crime analyst. I know from also being a court junkie, they know their stuff!!! Keep up the important content!
  • Sammajamma213
    I’m 😂
“Because that would be psychotic.” In the episode about Ilene Miselhoff? The humor is always professional and appropriate but also fantastic. You guys are brutal in the best way possible. Love it.

    Great analysis and important work
Not only do I really love Leah’s voice, her writing is incredible. I really enjoy listening to her analysis given her background. The calm presentation and quality of her voice is great. Scott provides a sometimes quirky, often entertaining insight. I read a review about the lack of respect for victims. I listen to a lot of true crime. There is so much compassion and respect for the victim in this podcast. There is little more compassion and respect than dedicating research to missing and unsolved cases. Well presented research and enjoyable podcast for a topic that is so weighty. Thanks to you both.
  • leelostinspace
    Stop making silly small talk
You are discussing serious topics so please show respect. Nothing about these victims’ experiences is something to joke about. Your audience doesn’t want you to try to entertain us with your silly meandering conversation. Analyze seriously or be quiet.

    Leah and her cohost SCOTT!
These 2, are the reason this Podcast works, for me. The cases are fascinating, and intriguing, but it is the relationship between Leah and Scott, that keeps e listening. Why is Scott not listed as a Host? He is a very talented part of this Duo. Love Leah AND Scott!

    good but quiet
I do like this podcast, but do have some gripes. Unlike a lot of reviewers, I think the co-host is fine, it's just the way his questions (or opportunity to ask one) seem written into the script that seems weird and unnecessary. Also, the voices when talking are okay but when reading they're so monotone they kinda put me to sleep so I only usually listen at night in bed and the podcast in general is so quiet that I have to turn it up a notch or two louder than any others so when ads come on they're incredibly loud and jarring.

Want to hear more from the Co-host
This podcast has a lot of potential. Both hosts seem intelligent and are both articulate….given that, why is it that Leah dominates most of the episodes?! It’s maddening! The latest episode is a great example. The most recent episode featured 5 mini stories about hikers who went missing. During the last story of the episode Leah rattled off several facts about brain aneurysms…why not have Scott present that information? I’m growing more annoyed and impatient with podcasts that choose to have two hosts but one host inevitably dominates the conversation; it’s completely unnecessary, disrespectful, and embarrassing. Share the spotlight, Leah!

    👍🏼
I listen while working. The content is done in a respectful manner and has many cases I’ve never heard of. This podcast is well done.
  • Annoyed Allie
    Good, but…
The excessive use of the word whenever when the correct word is “when” is annoying. If it was occasional, you could possibly ignore, but multiple times in one episode makes me want to just turn it off.
  • Beya
    Eh
The cohost is just really cringe and makes me not want to listen to this podcast which is sad because it seems to have a lot of potential. Please drop this guy and you’ll get much further.
  • pcknUpwht
    Kudos!
Love Leah and Scott! I appreciate all the work you do. One observation, Leah, please stop saying woman when you should say women. I am so confused by why you consistently do this? Surely you know the difference between the two?
  • Jhawk737
    Co-Host Detracts from Podcast
Leah does a pretty darn good job with this podcast, however her co-host adds absolutely nothing to it and comes across as nails on a chalkboard with his “more than obvious” comments. Choosing to unsubscribe for this reason since I have many others to listen to currently and not enough time to keep up.
  • Mbrohms
    Great true crime podcast
I really enjoy this podcast. They have such an original take on these stories. They are respectful and thorough in their investigations.
  • Lady Starscream
    Respectful and Researched
Leah and Scott approach the stories of missing persons with kindness, care, and respect. Many true crime podcasts sensationalize stories like these, while LSA presents information and research meant to help bring missing loved ones home. I especially appreciate their trigger warnings on certain episodes, and meticulous data collection. I am thankful for LSA for caring so much!! ❤️
  • marker02
    Slow it down
Scott, please slow down and speak your words clearly at the end of the podcast. I’m new to listening to you both. I’m liking it a lot. I am a senior with Bluetooth hearing aids. Have trouble with Scott’s words dropping off at the end. Thanks for understanding! I tried, but I just can’t listen anymore.
  • ElSando88
Hosts are trashy pit bull apologists
It’s a shame that the hosts feel the need to infuse talk of their stupid pitbulls and how much they love pitbills and how they get covered by blood when they go hunting any chance they get. Unsubscribed because even though the cases of missing folks could be intriguing to hear about, this husband and wife team (who are probably inbred and could also be brother and sister) ruin it all by injecting their irrelevant personal opinions into the cases such as how much they love pitbulls. Pass. Don’t bother with this silly podcast.
  • Uf0x
    great podcast!
i love this show ive been listening everyday since i found it, im begging for scott to chill at the end and stop sounding so excited. it is kinda distasteful to hear such serious topics and hear that kind of sound off goodbye, just not really the time and place, while i really enjoy his comments during the show it is just so weird to hear that kind of tone during a show that is so tragic.
  • PodcastJunkie25
    Host
The male host sounds like a complete tool and he serves no useful role. His voice along with his inane (often ignorant) comments drive me bananas.
  • Nofxch1ck
    Podcast is my favorite
Keep up the great work guys!

    Love it!
I am stuck at a desk all day working on a computer. I love listening to this podcast, it is my absolute favorite. The intonation of their voices are perfect and soothing. The microphone sounds great not screechy like some others. The story is presented in a respectful way and they explore different aspects and possible scenarios of the cases.

    I Love It
Thank you for the time both of you put into this show. I am a true crime lover and appreciate your show very much. Keep up the great work.

    Grammar?? Monotonous?
“Many local woman?” … many local WOMEN. Meaning more than one. Cringey to hear this over and over … first time listening and I can’t handle the monotone voices.

    Voices
Like many reviewers here I find the delivery a tad hard to listen to (especially Scott) but I can get over that, what I don't like is when they push their personal agenda, it's happened a couple times, too much talk about their love of hunting was annoying but them implying co-sleeping parents are irresponsible and negligent bothered me enough to come review.

I wish this pod was weekly. I really enjoy listening. I find the hosts respectful and just the right amount of interaction.

    Annoying speech grammar habit
The host has the annoying habit of using whenever where when is appropriate. The stories are okay.
