New to KaijuInformative and EntrtainingReally is a fun podcast! Nate and his guests really do know what they are talking about in the kanji world but present it in a fun way. Listening to the podcast is like sitting in a room listening to a bunch of friends laugh and talk about things that they are passionate about.

LjaconeFun and informative podcast!Fun and informative podcast from an enthusiastic kaiju fan. Nathan covers all sorts of angles in his pursuit of enlightenment via kaiju movies. Definitely worth a listen.

KaijuKayI got through one episodeIf you like podcasts where the host interrupts everyone constantly then this podcast is for you. Self indulgence, bragging and closed mindedness. Too much Christianity for a podcast about kaiju movies.

Whatdidijustlistento02Carnival of CringeI found this cast after seeing his cringey Tiktok. He's really loud... maybe his mic volume should be adjusted? Just when a guest is about to make a point they get interrupted again. He's part of a podcaster click. They all gladhand each other and have each other on their casts. The worst is the ""comedy"". Its painfully cringey and he thinks he's hilarious.

nastyinthepastyThey got me gigglingThese folks had me laughing, thanks dudes.

Razor105Fun, insightful, cheesyThis show takes the silly attitude in a lot of classics to spin a creative look at various Kaiju films. The host is clearly an academic that considers these important works culturally.

ggeorge759A Kaiju-riffic Podcast! If you like Kaiju films and want a podcast that treats them better than just cheesy monster movies, you can't do much better than The Monster Island Film Vault. Nathan and the tourists he brings along with him, analyze the films and the context they were made in, in a way that is fun and entertaining. I've only just finished the King Kong (2015) review, but I'm looking forward to the rest of the journey. Keep it up Nathan and Jimmy!

TofuFuryA Deep Dive into Kaiju FilmsI don’t have the deepest knowledge of giant monster films. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching them, but I just don’t get to see them that often. However, I do enjoy listening to long podcasts on subjects I find interesting, and this one is just what I’m looking for. Nate has a deep wealth of knowledge of Kaiju films and other movies tangential to the genre. Whenever he talks about a subject, I feel like I learn something out of it, which is what I want out of a podcast. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, absolutely give it a listen.

The Drift SpaceEdu-tainment from a Highly Protected VaultNathan and Jimmy have been accomidating hosts to our stay on the island and we're never short of having fun. Built as a podcast drama, the MIFV does some of the most extensive deep dives into kaiju related content, leaving no stone unturned as it claws to unearth the most obscure and interesting information about even the most overlooked titles. Listen closely and you may learn-scratch that-will learn plenty! The perfect length episodes when on the road especially!

MonsterMom84Just what I've been looking for! After trying several podcasts within the Godzilla genre, I've only found a few that I really enjoy. I'm happy to say that The Monster Island Film Vault is one of them! I love the host's enthusiasm for the subject matter, and whomever is performing has his producer is brilliant. I love the unconventional approach the hosts take making this show both informative and fun. Some of the post-credit bits are a little cringe but over all this show has won me over, and is a must listen each and every time it shows up in my feed! Keep up the great work Nathan and Jimmy! - Becca

Lucha KaijuAwesome PodcastA great mix of informative and entertaining this show is up there with the best of the growing library of Kaiju podcasts. A strong feature is the situating of the Kaiju films in sociological and historical context to fully flesh out the meaning of the films, enriching the appreciation and understanding of them, all without being dry or boring. A tall order well done, a great show!!

Dd GNew face on Mount Rushmore of Kaiju podcasts?Love the mix of full reviews and mini-anaylses. As a fellow veteran I appreciate the employment of Jimmy from NASA. Great information done in a tight, but fun way. Keep up the great work and we’ll get the chisel out soon.

yojimbo652nd Review: Kid-Friendly KaijuI’ve already extolled the virtues of listening to Nathan, Jimmy and friends. They provide a smart, funny, informative show. However, as a kaiju dad with two young daughters who need lots of shuttling to and from activities, I discovered another bonus to listening to the podcast. I’m not sure why, but during episode #10 (John LeMay vs Kong Kong ‘76) I realized The Monster Island Film Vault is one of the very few I can listen to with the girls without fear of a random f-bomb or curse word. My little Shobijin are starting to share my love of kaiju. They play with my figures. We watch the films together. It is very refreshing to be able to have a podcast I can share with them. So, I have to add “family friendly” to the list of superlatives. Keep up the excellent work.

Kbyrd5SolidIn a sea of Kaiju podcasts that just talk about toys, fantasy battles, monster power levels or getting reactions out of non-Kaiju fans, it’s nice to see a show put effort into the actual history and analysis of these films.

Hamilton_54Required Listening for ANY Giant Monster Fan!!I discovered the MIFV through another podcast, The Kaiju Apostle. In a world where there are SO-MANY Kaiju podcasts to choose from, the MIFV is able to stand out and keep things interesting through insightful commentary and a unique format that is both entertaining and informative. If the Kaiju Community could take a vote as to who belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Kaiju Podcasts, there is no doubt MIFV would be a worthy contender. You guys have made a fan for life, or at least until the Kilaak race does finally emerge to destroy us all! Thanks for the all the hard work! Michael Hamilton The Kaiju Groupie

Cathode Ray PhantomIf You're Not Careful, You just Might Learn Something!Having finally caught up-to-date on this podcast, I must say it is great! The humor and showmanship of the presentation is what sets The Monster Island Film Vault apart from many of the other kaiju/toku podcasts. From a Robin Williams-esque opening, to the banter between host Nathan Marchand and Jimmy From NASA, who is growing on me, the pacing is brisk but not frantic, and humor and jokes fly thick and fast. Listening to this show is just fun, but there is a lot of good information hiding under that sugar-coating of humor. The host does his homework, and every tokusatsu fan can learn something new. It isn't just someone spouting their opinions into the ether. In each episode, Nathan and Jimmy provide a concise summary of each film, before diving into the discussion with a rotating cast of guest co-hosts. I often find myself wishing I was at the same table, so I could join in on the conversation. Sometimes I forget and talk back to the podcast, when someone asks a question. Barring active participation, listening to the discussions of the films is more than acceptable substitute. I appreciate the mix of experience levels in the guests as well. As someone who saw King Kong '33 back in the early 70's when I was a wee lad, it is a lot of fun to hear someone's reactions to the film upon seeing it for the first time. The more seasoned guests (John LeMay, Ben Avery) often offer insights I had never knew or considered (KK'33 was the first score made specifically for a movie?, Petrox = Pet Rocks? How did I miss that?). The third section, the Toku Topic provides a spotlight on the real world events that the film was either influenced by, or reflects upon. Here is where a listener can pick up some interesting factoids that can enhance your enjoyment of, or at least explain the filmmaker's choices in the given film. In short, if it isn't too late for that, these updates from the Monster Island Film Vault are a treat. The episodes are fun, without being silly. Informative, without being pedantic. It hits a sweet spot that should appeal to both those new to tokusatsu and those more seasoned fans, like myself. Give it a listen.

FriedRaptorA must listen podcast for Kaiju lovers and G fans!Top notch commentary and production! It is obvious that the host Nathan spends hours in research which helps place the movies in context to the events and times of its production. The rotating guest hosts always give it a lively air. The icing on this delicious cake of a podcast is Jimmy! He is the driving force of the show and takes great care in keeping the commentators on track. Overall this show is a joy to listen to!
