    Rob Kyle & Cameron
You all have a real connection here and I don’t want to disregard that in any way but, I just listened to the last Signals for Evangelion. It was a beautiful episode. A perfect blend of a review and of Rob’s mental journey he took. I’ll speak on behalf of the fans: Rob we got your back. And for Kyle & Cameron you guys are hilarious and great and we appreciate you and all you do. Take care of yourself’s.

    Gamera stole my money
It’s rare to find a podcast that truly delivers on its promise of being dedicated to a geeky topic without unrelated tangents or awkward hosts. This show delivers on its promise of being fun, engaging and educational. Long live Tokyo!

    It is tough...
Your show is awesome and I love it. I am a guy who shared the love of all thing giant monster related with my big brother. I lost him almost 2 years ago and have been dealing with it the best I can. I loved calling him and talking to him about the next Godzilla movie or whatever crazy trailer or news article just popped up. I miss him a lot. We were actually gonna try and start a podcast ourselves. I am sorry I am just goin on and on. But listening to y’all talk about the news and reviews remind me a lot of the conversations we would have. Well maybe not as clever lol. But thank you for touching a strangers life and letting him remember his big brother through you. Love you guys, Lane J Painter.

    Too much fun
Let’s get this outta the way early: I’m one of those elder beast level daikaiju fans, having been born last century in 1968. Kaiju sights were few and far between, generally only on Saturday afternoon creature features on KMTR Los Angeles tv. My first in-theatre Godzilla movie was ā€œvs Megalonā€ (Punch Punch PUNCH), and I gleefully attended ā€œGodzilla 1985ā€ on opening day. The wasteland of available kaiju flicks was vast ... until the mid-90s when bootlegged subs started coming out of vhs house in (of all places) Florida. There were no websites, no blogs, no podcasts ... Godzilla fandom wasn’t even spoken about out loud most places. That’s why it does my 52 yr old radioactive heart good that this ā€˜cast exists. The youthful energy and obvious joy you all display makes me proud to be a part of this community (and more than a little envious since I had no one to share my fandom with when I was a proto-kaiju). I don’t listen for the factoids (99% of which are old news for me), but rather the opinions, the debates, the back-n-forth between true believers in a Better World Thru Tokusatsu.

I still have not received my potato.
This podcast has probably the best structure without having one. The creators say that this isn’t a review podcast, and I love that. It’s news, it’s discussion, and it’s witty. ADDENDUM: As stated on episode 10: King Kong (1974), posted on July 25th, 2016, at timestamp 3:15 I have been promised a single potato sent through mail. It has been 4 years and 19 days since then and I have not received a single potato in the mail.

Tokyo Lives and so will you
It’s a great show that brings a good mix of sarcastic comedy and information. The hosts consist of a good group of hosts including a Kyle that lives and breathes monsters….not just the energy drink that makes him crash through walls. I give this podcast 9 out of 10 Jet Jaguar thumbs ups.

I love reviews, but this goes beyond reviews which is a breath of fresh air. Real discussions.

The Best ā€œMonster Movieā€ Podcast ever!
Every episode starts with the latest Monster/Sci-Fi film news updates! Then they take a deep dive into the subject film, breaking down pretty much everything you wanted to know. Just listen to one or two episodes and you’ll be hooked! These guys are passionate about the films they discuss and it shows!

    King of the monster...podcasts
I happened to come across this podcast a few months ago, and now that I've listened to every episode to date, I feel like I can give a full and honest review. Growing up I was the kid who passed on Disney and Superhero movies and instead watched anything with dinosaurs or Godzilla in it. Its really awesome to be able to listen to the Tokyo Lives crew discuss all the movies I loved as a kid so sincerely and without irony (or at least not too much). The cast has great chemistry and a good balance, with Kyle's earnest approach, Marisa's skeptical amusement, Rob's relaxed outlook, and Cameron as the class clown. Additionally, you can tell there is a genuine passion for these movies that helps draw the listener in no matter how obscure the episode's subject, while the news segments, background info (aka Tokyo Tidbits), and running jokes add great flavor. I've tried out a ton of podcasts, including pretty much every single one about giant monster movies, and I can tell you that this is the best podcast I've listen to, bar none. The structure and pacing stop even the longest episodes from dragging and the great back and forth between hosts keeps the mood fun and light. The cast also varies the kind of subjects between episodes to prevent any staleness while also throwing in fun extras from time to time. There is also a knowledge of film-making that helps add in an extra layer of insight which is especially fun for a layman. Anyone looking to create their own podcast should look to Tokyo Lives as a model for how to create and run a podcast, no matter what the subject is about. It isnt all sunshine though, and I do have one major gripe: Every episode, near the end, Cameron tempts the audience with some of the greatest offers I have ever heard, ranging from offers to build Mechagodzilla in your backyard to seminars on King Caesar's martial arts, each one only costing the low low price of $13.75! Well every single time Ive rushed over to the Tokyo Lives patreon, credit card in hand, only to discover that the amazing offer is no where to be found. One of these days Cameron, Im going to get that offer, and we are going to go on a kaiju-themed adventure together.

    Kaiju Podcast At It’s Best
Boy o boy, this is by far the best giant monster podcast I have ever listened to. Just finished listening to every episode. I really enjoy how they break down each movie. The cast has great chemistry, and the show is at it’s best when the whole cast is together. The show seems to be centered on Godzilla, but also branches out to other giant monsters and even some anime. Hopefully this podcast lasts a vey long time.

    Giant monster talk
Kyle, Rob and Cameron may have the funniest podcast about giant monsters out there. If you like Kaiju then this is the podcast for you.

    Awesome Giant-Monster Podcasts
A well-produced and fantastic kaiju podcast. I’ve been listening for a while and the show has gotten better and better every episode. Lots of thoughtful discussions and analysis. Love the conversational tone and group dynamics. The cast is hilarious and super entertaining, Rob in particular has grown as a show member and found his speed (Looking forward to the next ā€œSan Francisco Livesā€). Keep up the great work guys.

    Tokyo is alive and well
As a kaiju and primarily Godzilla fan for 3 decades now i stumbled across this podcast on accident funny enough and haven’t looked back. It’s become my most anticipated release with atleast 2 episodes a month plus a special report for new kaiju related movies. The crew is incredibly knowledgeable about the genre and discuss them in great detail from monster design to plot detail to film design and sound effects. They’ve got me to watch and even buy some kaiju films that I’ve never seen before like the Heisei Gamera trilogy or Gamera Guardian of The Castle Gray Skull of the Universe for example lol. The cast itself is really funny and and family friendly, I’ve recommended it to friends my age and my niece and nephew and I’ll recommend to all of you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

The Best Kaiju Podcast Out There
To set the stage- I was in the middle of a kaiju renaissance in my personal life, and I decided to start checking out the fandom. I found several VERY good podcasts, and eventually stumbled upon this one while checking out podcasts that covered Godzilla comic books. To put it mildly, this one blew me away. The format is perfect, with each host bringing a different perspective to the cast. You get to see Rob experience many films for the first time, bringing a fresher look at some of these classics (and not so classics). Marisa often bring a more critical eye to the genre, often being the voice of the outsider all the while feeling perfectly in place with the cast. Kyle often brings the trivia, with his trademark "Tokyo Tidbits," and Cameron brings in adorable optimism and a child-like sense of wonder to the cast. The interplay between the hosts is the highlight, and I even find myself listening to older news sections just to hear how they react to it. The format of detailing the plot, favorite moments, characters, monster design, cinematography, sound design, and final thoughts allows for enough flexibility while also keeping things consistent. The variety in films discussed is also pretty great, with titles ranging from genre classsics like Gamera: Revenge of Iris to the cinematic disasterpiece known as The Crater Lake Monster, the cast has a little something for everyone! By and large, my favorite part of the cast is just how funny it is while being informative and often eye-opening, and each host really brings something unique to the comedy table. Whether it's a trademarked comedic "bit", a patented fan theory, or just simply having fun with the absolute insanity of some of these films (Gamera vs. Guiron comes to mind), this cast is always entertaining. I can't recommend it enough!

Worth every cent of $13.75...but it's FREE
The current incarnation of this podcast is extremely entertaining-straight man Kyle, bitter (in a good way) Marisa, and the playful Rob and Cameron combine to put together a giant monster pod that never lags or drags. They examine a variety of giant monster films both Western and Eastern, and break them down point by point from monster design, stories, cinematography, soundtracks, etc. I enjoy how the crew is a mixture of genre vets and those new to the field, and they're big on interacting with their audience online as well. Best of all, they're not afraid to break from tired fanboy dogma and give their honest opinions and viewpoints. If Rodan wasn't stuck in a hot car, this is the podcast he'd listen to.

Good show ruined by everyone talking at once
This used to be my favorite podcast to listen to, but the Jurassic World show was marred by the hosts talking/yelling/laughing over each other the entire time. Couldn't listen to the whole thing.

    Let them fight
I was so psyched to find a kaiju movie podcast of this quality. The show is a lot of fun and also provides lots of details about the films covered in each episode. The news segment is always great, too. Good to know there is still this amount of love for the genre, in the US. Keep up the great work, guys (and lady)!

A must listen if you're a kaiju fan
This podast is a must listen, especially if you're a fan of giant monster and kaiju genre. The hosts get along great with each other. They always have something fun and interesting to point out regarding the movies they're talking about that keeps you entertained through the entire discussion. The discussions are also easy to follow so you don't have to be an existing knowledge of the giant monster/kaiju genre to follow/understand the conversations. Because of this podcast I've rewatched some of my favorite giant monster/kaiju movies that have been discussed with a better understanding and more appreciation for those movies.

    Great Giant Monster Discussion
I happened upon this podcast after looking for a podcast that discussed the old Gamera movies, since I had just rewatched all of them. Kyle and Coleman keep their discussions fairly focused, which I appreciate. They go into each aspect of the movies they discuss - from special effects to acting and whatnot - without going too overboard. They're not afraid to voice "controversial" opinions but are respectful even when they dislike certain films. I like that they cover a broad range of giant monsters, not just Japanese kaiju (despite the name). I love any kind of giant monster, whether it be King Kong, dinosaur, giant insects, etc. so it's great to hear them discuss some of those alongside the no-brainer favorites of Godzilla and Gamera. They recently reviewed a Godzilla comic called Half-Century War that got me so exicted for it that I bought the comic after listening to the episode! With only 27 episodes up to this point, I look forward to hearing more from them. With the new Legendary and Toho Godzilla movies coming out, it's a good time to be a giant monster fan.

    Too Many Mouths
Not a fan of the additional talking heads. Old format much better - Too many voices just talking over each other. Very frustrating to listen to. Especially when there are background conversations and cross talk conversations during somebody talkinjg about the actual movie. Pair it back guys and maybe i'll subscribe again.
  • Brainguts
    A lot of fun!
A great all-around podcast! There's great energy between all the hosts and there's a lot of funny and insightful discussions in each episode. They do a good job of going in depth on a wide range of factors (sound design, monster design, plot, cinematography, characters, etc) about each movie and seem to have a real passion for kaiju movies.

    Eh
Illustrated by bickering and pettiness. I'd steer clear of it
  • Not Fudifedirm
    Frustrating
Sometimes a pretty good podcast, but mostly just two godzilla fans getting too heated about their opinions. It feels like both of the hosts cant stand eachother and everytime one guy has an unpopular opinion, the other guy has to jump down his throat about it. It gets really taxing.
  • Alex Nemo
    A+
A fair and balanced view on Kaiju Eiga with two superfans who know what they're talking about.

    Monster Madness!
A wonderful podcast with two fans who are up front about the nature of their show: this is a discussion based fan podcast that casts a wide net into the kaiju genre. You can get your Kong, your Gamera, your Clover, and yes your Godzilla talk here. Another element that makes this intriguing is the hosts haven't seen ALL giant monster movies ever, and so they sometimes go into these films for the first time. The debate over stop motion and CGI episode was incredible. This is just another sign that a new monster boom is coming, as I now have my choice between multiple kaiju podcasts. I would recommend this as a staple of any monster podcast experience

A great show for great films
Giant monster films may be a rarity now, but it's great to hear the hosts keeping the spirit alive and bringing all the giant monster news and reviews on the internet. Definitely listen if you're a fan, and definitely listen if you want to be one.
  • Abraham M-J
    A must listen
Great guys with lots of humor and knowledge on their subject. Creativity abound with how these two interperet the films and bring them to life. Would highly recommend listening
  • Finallyliz
    Great for everyone!
While extremely knowledgable, these guys still make the discussions accessible for whatever level of affinity you have for giant monsters! They have some great points and insight that makes me want to go back and re-watch all my favorites.
