Wolverine down SouthFantastic! One of my favorite series. I’ve listened to it several times. Listen to it!
-
gh8919365DisappointingIt’s unfortunate that this rich history of the Cold War is muddled with American conservatism. Stopped listening after the host insisted the nuclear bombing of Japan was warranted.
-
Asnagle63Great ShowThis has been an amazing show. I’m a history geek and finding good series to listen to can be hard. The Cold War is so well written, it’s interesting, I’ve learned lots of new things without getting too bogged down in insignificant details. I appreciate that it doesn’t try and make the USA and the USSR as equally good places. I really hope the Daily Wire will do more of these!!
-
orl dudeAmazingInside history with one of the best American storytellers I’ve ever listened to.

JoeCool4truthSensationalOne of the most profound, chilling, and important stories to any true American. Bill Whittle does an amazing job. I read some of the other reviews and some people seem to think that this series was biased. I would remind them that no historical secondhand report is completely unbiased. Every person is entitled to their own opinion and personally, I agree with Bill Whittle on many of the so-called biased things that other people who have reviewed this have trouble with. At some point you have to ask yourself not simply what you believe, but what is actually true. Any true American must ask himself/herself this question and then, if you find that you have a different belief than another on a fact, then you may dispute your opponent’s claim. This is what actually happened whether you believe it or not. You can only choose what you want to believe, not what you want to be true, so, you might as well make sure that what you believe is true.

AssociatingbyPinner***yukFANTASTIC…a must listenThis is a rich history of the Cold War (I & II). If you listen, you’ll get it. 😉 Don’t think you’ll only get a straight history because you’ll also get implications, influence, & unsung heroes. The past projects into the future. Disclaimer: I intentionally search for anything Bill Whittle does. I recommend you do so as well.

CastAddict82A podcast of extreme excellenceA great podcast. Quite possibly the best written podcast ever, and one of the most refreshing, insightful, thoughtful, and engaging pieces of media on American history ever to be created. The host takes what could be a insufferably dry topic, full of the possibility of countless subjective arguments about either side of the conflict - something that was both a concrete, on the ground, battle in Korea, Vietnam, and in space and an abstract, negative-space war- and brings to a matter of fact and common sense clarity. occasionally the detailed descriptions interesting aspects of the Cold War can feel slightly tedious, as in the detail descriptions of the various jets used in the US battles in Vietnam, yet even here we understand the importance and reason for his spending so much time on the differences between these machines. My only wish is that he had created more episodes, specifically ones, covering the years in decades, following the supposed end of the Cold War, and what we are now dealing with regards to Russian relations. But perhaps that is another podcast.

NumarketsThe Real LeadersAn important history education. Emphasis on immeasurable contributions of the under-appreciated heroes, and damage caused by villains and fools with “good intentions”. Thanks to Peter Robinson for bringing this terrific work to our attention!
-
Bryce1239Very GoodGreat podcast great narration I hope we get more

C . WhalenChrisFascinating history. True life stories
-
jband420EducationalThis covers literally every aspect of the Cold War and then some, very well done…
-
Sweet dreams everyone!Such a great listen!A crash course on the Cold War, worth every second. I’ll be listening again!
-
John Stryker03Decent enoughIt’s decent enough, entertaining enough, just be aware it is more of an opinion editorial than proper, objective history.
-
Greg F’ing MadduxA MUST.I never leave reviews, but this is a must listen. Incredible.

Lord PepperciniI don’t know what to thinkI’m interested in history and the cold war is something I know little about. So I started listening to this pod along with some others. It seems like it’s factual and I picked up early on that the host has some conservative “views” if thats the way to put it. Now, I don't necessarily think its a horrible thing to have a minor conservative or liberal take on things and if presented properly the listener can understand that and still enjoy and get something out of the podcast. And that is what I have been doing. From what I can gather from my limited history knowledge it appears that much of the information being presented is factual. I have fact checked a few things and found it this was. But Im certainly not able to fact check it all. I was ok with this until I started getting “anti woke “ toned advertising and thats when I started to wonder if this pod was on the up and up. People can debate or have opinions about “wokeness” , im not here for that and im not listening to a HISTORICAL cold war podcast to have to listen to politically motivated advertisements. In this world of political lunacy I turn to other sources of information such as what I hope are simply factual history programs, but unfortunately it seems difficult to avoid the toxic political cancer of our times. Everyone is so worried about their political party so much that we are poisoning every aspect of our society with this stuff. It saddens me. Note im not criticizing conservatism, nor liberalism , im criticizing the seemingly endless need for us as a society to throw it all away because of politics. I will still listen to this pod, hopefully it won’t stray too far off course, and if it does I will stop. C’mon people can we stop this political nonsense? it’s killing us as a nation and most likely has done so much damage to our society that we may never be able to pull ourselves out of this nose dive. Oh, I forgot to mention the “anti woke” candy bar add. It’s kinda funny, but then you are reminded how toxic our world has become from both political agendas, this is whats important to people?. If it weren’t so sad it would be laughable how childish our politics have become. All I wanted was to enjoy some history, and can’t fully do that because of the nonsense.
-
Atvkilla1Super detailed and well researchedGreat podcast series. Whether you lived through the cold war and especially if you didn't, this is a mist listen. Whittle touches all the bases and puts everything into perspective.
-
idontlikeadsonyoutubeGreat podcast!I don’t often take time to write reviews but this show is absolutely incredible. I learned so much! Every episode was excellent! Thank you for a great experience!

loke302WowDon’t review very often but… wow. Amazingly done.

uhtipA Gripping Telling of the Cold War HistoryWhen I heard this show was coming to the Daily Wire + I immediately knew if was time to sign back up for a membership. The narrator is an incredible story teller. You feel yourself being drawn back long ago to really relive the times of the past with this series. An incredible telling of our history, without the nonsense regularly pushed by our country’s current political class. I highly recommend.

TwinsRobloxMusicaBest everStill waiting for the next episode. Best one I have found!!
-
Positron848It was so closeTo be fair, I didn’t see that this podcast was part of the Daily Wire stable until several episodes in. The podcast was informative and helpful to understand the wider story all the way until the final couple of episodes. Then it was like the author remembered/was told that he needed to take shots at the American left or he couldn’t be part of the Daily Wire family. He ham-fistedly inserts right wing political commentary at extremely odd moments, to the point of trying to make Richard Nixon seem like just a misunderstood guy when Watergate came crashing down and Gerald Ford a courageous man by pardoning him. At last, he wraps it all up by essentially portraying the Cold War as an American victory thanks to Reagan, Thatcher, and The Pope. Remove the Daily Wire effect and this would have been a much more well rounded podcast.

davisnavidadStorytellerBill Whittle is one of the best story tellers I have encountered. I love his podcasts.
-
G W IOn par with Dan Carlin.Knocked it out of the park again Bill.
-
jsmsimpAbsolutely brilliant! This podcast brings the history to life, it fills in the gaps and details that the govermemts did not want their people to know. Bill Whittle is a master story teller and word smith, with the God given gift of weaving the historical events, facts, dates in a spell-binding tapestry that leaves the listener eagerly waiting for the next scene to unfold. The Daily Wire got their money's worth on this and then some.
-
KlemJohnstonVery informativeExcellent research brings this podcast to life. I couldn’t wait to listen to the next episode. Just wish everyone would hear this!
-
ToothchiefAbsolutely Wonderful PodcastI absolutely loved this podcast. As a student of history I appreciate the contrast between the two sides. I think I also love reading the reviews particularly those of the socialist/communist who can’t stand having their ideology discredited.
-
Ea4780EnlighteningAbsolutely fascinating account of the history I lived though, well part of it. So we’ll done I plan to listen again. Bill is a great historian.
-
Walnut-Khan85Awesome series! This series is extremely insightful. Bill does a great job narrating and laying out each episode with telling side stories and making it interesting and not just about names and dates. There’s so much good information on a war that barely gets taught in school these days. It’s very riveting and educational. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. If you want to learn about the Cold War from start to finish this series is it.
-
rock1001Republican propagandaThat’s what this is ultimately. There’s not way to sugar coat it. Praising Reagan as the main contributor of the fall of the Soviet Union is not only laughable, but dangerous. Because it misses all the other changes he pushed in the US that ultimately led to the greatest gap in wealth and income inequality we’ve ever had in history. Be careful. This podcast is propaganda subtly masked as a relatively well researched effort. The worst kind of propaganda. It could have been saved if the narrator would have put into context the cost of America’s actions, the other things Republicans pushed for. It was too focused on solely the Cold War with no other disclaimers. I would even dare to say that you can’t disprove that the Soviet Union lost the Cold War despite republicans not because of them, neither Margaret Thatcher, and Pope Francis. The ending was kind of laughable.
-
zsoltron1981Honest history, without woke ism.I am very satisfied with this history podcast. I listen to so many other podcasts and the presenter always uses a woke talking point or plays the race card. Keep up the good work Bill
-
valsmansmittyFantastic podcast!Bill Whittle, as usual, knocks it out of the park. He illuminates actual history and makes it feel as real as present day. Such an impressive work.
-
Bob 0612Great PodcastThis is a great series and very well presented by Bill - he does such a great job making it interesting and entertaining. Same for America’s Forgotten Hero’s podcast - which is also excellent. the Cold War is a period of US history that I wanted to learn more about - so glad I found this podcast. Thanks!
-
MissThang18HistoryI’ve always loved history and in high school I signed up for AP US history thinking it would be what this podcast was. I was so disappointed! Turns out AP US history is essentially just learning how to write essays to prove you understand what you read NOT actually delving into the details. As a late 80’s baby I missed most of the Cold War and in school it was basically glazed over, this podcast is so thorough. It can be a little dry and he does talk more about planes, ships and artillery than I’d like BUT it’s necessary to understand. Especially when you think about how much more advanced America and its Allie’s were during the Cold War and the envy it fueled. Every person who wants to comment on modern American politics should have to listen to this podcast before they start throwing America and it’s leaders under the bus. I learned so much.
-
Jon 000001History understood. The podcast presents history in a that is easier to understand.
-
bignitwitGood historyVery well researched and presented

SpearchuckerIICold WarWhat a fantastic set of history lessons. Wonderful story telling. One of the best I’ve ever read or heard. Thank you Mr Whittle. Please keep producing these kinds of historical pod casts.
-
neverbeenusedGreat history lesson.Bill covered details of history I never learned. Schools didn’t teach recent history to this extent and most people my age have no idea how the 50’s through the 80’s created the world we are in now. I had to listen twice to capture all the details. Thank you and now I am looking for all of your podcasts.
-
efyso*sigh*They shouldn’t have changed the name. ‘The Cold War What We Saw’ was a much better name.
-
Jason a FanA fantastic seriesWish Bill Whittle did more series. Excellent stuff!

MolaMolaAndCatsWell produced but incredibly biasedThis podcast is one of the most biased history podcasts I have ever listened to. I went into it to learn about the Cold War because it is a time is American and world history that I am sorely lacking knowledge of, but even with my fairly basic knowledge of the subject from school I was able to spot how it misrepresented history. Other than a few examples which I am honestly not equipped to comment on, the facts presented seem to my knowledge to be accurate, but they are cherry picked to fit a very American white nationalist perspective and the commentary that goes along with it is entirely unnecessary except to further obfuscate the truth. As a disclaimer I have only listened to the first three episodes because I could not keep listening after how insanely biased it’s portrayal of the Berlin air lift was. The snide comments about how “hardly any” (refusing to elaborate on the exact number) berliners had moved to Soviet controlled Berlin was the last straw that finally made me look into this podcast’s publisher, which is the Daily Wire, a conservative think tank that was a proponent of President Donald Trump’s 1776 education report. At least they’re consistent in their inconsistent portrayal of history. TL;DR: I would not recommend listening to this unless you have a very clear understanding of the Cold War which I do not have, because it is incredibly biased and is only useful as conservative propaganda and the study therein.

poston76Great podcast, all of them…The only problem is we need more content from Bill. Keep it coming!

-
UmpMOAbsolute mustThis is a must listen podcast. I want my children to listen over and over to know the real stories behind some of modern histories most important events. Bless you for the engaging delivery and informative presentation.
-
LadyRaven391Amazing, a must listenI absolutely love this podcast. It’s been such a great help in understanding the Cold War. As a somewhat amusing side note, I listened to America’s Forgotten Heros before I listened to this one and there aren’t any ad reads in that series, so whenever whittle starts to read an ad, I think it’s some sort of catchy intro into the next segment…anyhow, this podcast is very much worth your time.
-
jamesmccurdy1A must listenAnyone who wants to understand the world today must listen to this podcast. The changes and forces that combined to create the United States as we know it today all emanated from this period of time. The enemies today are the same, just disguised and cloaked unlike they were back in the cold war. If we are to remain a free country, we need to understand what hundreds of thousands of men and women sacrificed for during the cold war so that we could be free. This podcast tells that story in wonderful detail, with reverence and respect for history; the actors who made history; and the people who gave so much during the Cold War. To quote the great Bob Marley - “if you don’t know your past you don’t know your future.” Listen to this podcast and know your past. It’s so important.
-
Bowermaster88Unmatched Cold War PodcastComprehensive is too weak for an apt adjective for this podcast. Bill’s reporting, the production, and the overall subject material was gripping to say the least. I would love to hear more from him in the future.
-
kellogg99Great detailThis is such a comprehensive look at the Cold War and the thing that makes it so good is the combination of the high level look at the macro environment and causes of various events in the conflict, paired with stories of individuals’ heroism and decisions that changed the course of history by simple acts of faith in human kind and standing up for what they believed. It is these stories woven into the fabric of the broader cloth that makes it real and meaningful. This podcast taught me many things I never learned in classes or even watching Ken Burns’ excellent Vietnam War series.
