-
KathjzThe Best Bookish PodcastThis is my favorite reading podcast. The hosts know their stuff. They’re authentic and so nice to listen to. Highly recommend!
-
GraycristinaPromisingThe audio is not that great and I wish it was. It as muffled sound and I think it is because the host is speaking too close to the microphone.
-
ArielP.Drinking GameTake a shot every time the hosts say, “committee.”

EmilyJBMCozy book podcast!I have been listening to the Well Read podcast for a year or two now and I am hooked. There are so many book and reading podcasts out there but this one is definitely in my top three. I love listening to Halle and Ann. They are such delightful people and I love everything about their podcast. I also truly appreciate the work that they do as this is not their full-time job. Thank you so much for bringing such great content!
-
justpamLess romance pleaseI enjoy listening to you both, but you seem to concentrate on romance novels. They are not for me and I end up stop listening to you.
-
PageHBMy favorite reading podcastI have listened to at least ten podcasts about reading and this is my favorite! Listening to Ann and Hallie is like having a lively chat with two friends who love books. Not highfalutin, just authentic love of a good variety of books. Thank you for doing this podcast.
-
squareknotajcI love this podcast!I love this podcast, I love the content, I love the conversations. I look forward to every episode and the only drawback is that my TBR will NEVER get smaller. 💕📚

Elyb1591Librarians’ takesThis is a really enjoyable podcast presenting a variety of reads, and it’s fun to hear from librarians.
-
mary leonardMy favorite bookish podcast🩷I love Halle and Ann and the Well-Read podcast! As a reader who reads across lots of genres, I think they both give amazing recommendations! And I appreciate that they embrace that they have such different genre preferences because there is so much variety! When they both love a book, I know it’s going to be a 5 star read. I feel like I’m listening to my 2 friends chat about books and there’s nothing better than that. And very importantly, they have great voices for podcasting and the audio is always perfect! Halle and Ann, I love the long episodes! The longer the better! Thank you for your lovely podcast and sharing your thoughts with us!

KarenayngusKarenaynFor the most part the content is good. Some set ups could be buttoned up some and get a little rambling. I gave it 4 stars because of sound engineering. I have to crank up the volume because of low talking or poor mic and lack of enunciation.

DeBK265Lots of hesitationPrefer other book podcasts, mainly due to the constant hesitation as the hosts search for the right words, trying to figure out, IN REAL TIME, how to convey information, sometimes as if they just can’t remember what they’re talking about. Also, they often have to correct themselves mid-sentence as they describe a plot (“a 16 year old … no, 17”, “I can’t remember…”). So annoying. Please work on fluidity of speech; be prepared; have a script ready if you can’t remember. It’s so frustrating while they try to figure out how to convey their information and whether they should share something and stumbling (and speaking) over each other and on and on. Not terribly enlightening nor helpful in choosing my next book. So many words saying so little. Also, despite reviews from 1-2 YEARS ago complaining about the sound disparity between the hosts, this issue remains. Would recommend this is addressed. I’ve listened for over a year but think I’ll focus on other podcasts that better meet my needs and tastes.

Horseluver367Like the podcast, poor choice of adsI’m all for podcasters making money but please know your audience. Getting extra loud rockstar energy drink ads 3x and Clinton school 3x at random spots. It doesn’t flow well and is a negative to the podcast. Not interested in these intrusive ads so have to pass on listening for now.

radoncreadsLove this podcast!!I listen to several book podcasts and this is my favorite. Good mix of books, just the right amount of time is spent per recommendation/review. So happy to have found this, and listening to their back episodes now. I wish it was weekly!
-
Fiona PrinceHands down the best books podcastIf I could have an episode a week it would make me so happy. I’m constantly searching out other book podcasts but none are as good or as broadly read as these hosts. Always cheerful and informative. Never self absorbed or patronizing.
-
georgegeorgegalssWhat a great book pod!Love this podcast. Great hosts. Wonderful recommendations. A book pod for anyone who likes to read!
-
MelEditsGreat content, good executionI love listening to these two librarians talk about books. I enjoy the categories of books they plan to bring to each episode. However, the podcast itself is a bit sporadic. It looks at this point (February 2022) as if they’re monthly, but I can’t really tell. Sometimes the episodes come out on Fridays, sometimes Saturdays, so unfortunately, it’s not a podcast you can look for. You just need to welcome the surprise when it randomly pops up. Also, I don’t think it’s edited. There are a lot of fumbling with words and sentences as they try to describe books. It would be better if they wrote down their descriptions first and then went through them; a lot of podcasters do this type of outline without sounding like they’re reading a script.
-
SleightoffeetI can only hear half!I really want to like this podcast, but I can only hear one of you!!! I can’t constantly adjust the volume between the two of you. I liked the parts I heard, and I’ll give another episode a try in case it gets fixed.
-
MegFumHighly recommended for any book loverI am truly delighted when I see Well Read pop up on my podcast feed! Halle and Ann discuss great books thoughtfully, and they have provided so many wonderful book recommendations. This podcast is such a reliably fun listen - thanks Halle and Ann!
-
InspiredCaroleFun hosts, thorough reviews!I enjoyed listening to Halle and Ann discuss the books they’ve read. They make me wish I was a librarian so I could read as many interesting books as they do! Great feedback on what to read next.
-
FfjffhchnhGreat podcastI love the podcast and get a lot of book suggestions from it. Please do something about the volume disparity between Ann and Halle’s mics, though. I find myself having to constantly adjust volume because one is SO QUIET and the other is loud.
-
Supreme smokerPlease repeat titlesLove your podcast but can you please repeat the book title after describing?
-
SarashinamFavorite bookish podcastThis podcast has kept me such good company this past year! I look forward to each new episode and no longer mind longer dishwashing or feeding sessions because of it. The hosts are personable, passionate, and seem like great friends. They always list a bunch of interesting books in each episode and are very introspective and thoughtful about their reading in general. They have exactly the kinds of genuine conversations I wish I could have with people about books myself.
-
AireDevileTotal Class ActHalle and Ann, two librarians (how perfect is that) recommend new books and old favorites. They have a delightful banter and a depth of knowledge of all things bookish, delivered in a very polished and professional podcast without the need for explicit language. Very refreshing. Thank you, girls. I hope you continue on with your endeavor as I have come to look forward to hearing your lovely voices every other week. Signed-devoted listener

Busyperson1234FavoriteIntelligent reviews and discussions. No giggles and empty dialogue that is on other podcasts.
-
brittseibertTBR grower!Love this podcast! I always add a book or two (or more) to my TBR that I might never have picked up otherwise.
-
CLKobe67Always great suggestions!I love this podcast because I often find something to add to my reading list. Thanks for sharing !
-
lallygagersYes!Just saw y’all have new episodes! Yay!!!

AreYouKiddingMe05Two airheads discuss booksIt pains me to know that these two are librarians. Most of the books they mentioned in their Spring/Summer Releases podcast are chick lit, although they did include a couple of “diverse” picks to check those boxes. Although it’s pretty obvious that those picks aren’t sincere when everything else you mention are books about white people falling in love. If you love Currently Reading but you’re not interested in their nonstop kid talk, check out this podcast. If you’re looking for a smart podcast by readers who discuss (and READ) a wide variety of genres, this isn’t for you. Side note - why do Millennial women insist on sounding so stupid when they speak? Not every sentence is a question, nor do you constantly have to speak in superlatives.
-
mcm361Volume issuesLove the content but the volume varies so dramatically from one host to the other that it’s sometimes difficult to listen. One host is very soft spoken and I have to turn the volume so far up to hear her that I’m nearly blasted out of my car when the other host starts speaking.
-
deelovesbooksLove it!I have bought (and read) so many books that I’ve heard about from Halle and Ann. They have gotten me out of my book reading slump!
-

AmyWishmanBest bookish podcastMy favorite bookish podcast. The hosts' recommendations have consistently been high-quality and enjoyable reads for me. I also really enjoy their discussion on different genres and topics.
-
Book lover in OhioLove the book love!!!!Just stumbled across your podcast and IT IS A KEEPER!!! Ann and Halle thank you for all the time and thoughts you put into describing books!!! 5 Stars!!!!
-
nisapizzaYay Books!Love this podcast! The book recommendations and discussions are the best. I just placed a hold at my local library for Still Life by Louise Penny. My only suggestion is to add the book titles discussed in the podcast to the description/ show notes or at least a link to the podcast website. That way when I hear a book I like I can look it up immediately and place a hold at the library :)
-
bigbontonFinally! We needed thisGreat example of the power of podcasting, these two librarians have a professionally produced show that is a bulls-eye on New Media.
-
allerkinsDelightfulThis podcast is just delightful! It feels exactly like talking about books with two good friends. I always get so many great recommendations when I listen. Plus it makes doing even household chores like washing the dishes or cleaning the bathroom go by in a flash. A very pleasant way to spend listening time.
-
Nei0327One of my favorites! This podcast has quickly become one of my favorites! I love their recommendations and the different topics they cover. I always eagerly anticipate seeing what the next theme will be. I recommend for anyone interested in getting new, great book recommendations! My only complaint is that I wish they had an episode every week. :)
-
LoveMTGreat Recommendations!I LOVE this podcast!!!! I have enjoyed almost all of the books I've learned about through them. My absolute favorite episodes are the season previews (except that I have to wait to read the books). I also like the different themes. I would love more read-alike episodes. Only complaint - bi-weekly instead of weekly!
-
Baler6xThe Lowdown in the LowcountryBravo to Ann and Halle for dishing up gourmet reading ideas. Their discussions are casual and descriptive, helpful and enticing, varied and needed. It is great to hear local reports for local readers across a wide range in books. Very much appreciated. For our sake...keep this great service alive and loud for all to hear!!
-
Maldy4Love this podcast!Keep up the great work! I am loving all the great recommendations!!
-
LibraryLady9Great way to hear about new books!Loved the read-alikes podcast #2 and really enjoyed their recommendation of "A Kind Worth Killing" by Peter Swanson. Just listened to #3 and have put several on hold to read. Its a great way to find new book titles to read and enjoy!
