fromtexasbygodUnabashed Leftist Ideology/PropagandaOMG! Where to begin? About 30 minutes in it was actually comical the rate at which the relentless leftist talking points and Liberal Democrat Propaganda continued with relentless intensity and no sign of abating. This podcast exemplifies everything Radical Liberals stand for and offers compelling evidence that liberalism really is a mental illness. Too funny!

OBW2A Texan RequirementTexas is an amazing state with so many aspects of governance. We need this podcast to keep up and know where we want to dive.

Gregg555Very high qualityI love this podcast. It’s my secret weapon.

rustyorgr80% left side of the newsI’m looking for Texas news that is center and not always leaning to the left side of the political side.
-
Hondo1836Very slantedThey should call this program “The Leftist Standard,” as they seem to present only one side of any issue. Hardly surprising, given that it’s a production of KUT and Houston Public Media, but not representative of the outlook of most Texans.

D-rock17Slanted Texas NewsThis podcast is close to being good with the inevitable exception that it has a very annoying anti-Texan liberal slant. This stuff may play in Austin and Dallas but people elsewhere simply don’t agree with these viewpoints. Just deliver INFORMATION without the slant; how is this so difficult to do? They always go to their social media idiot who cherry picks liberal views and presents them as the voice of Texans. Stick to the facts, guys. These guys support claims of rampant white supremacy, court packing, repeal of gun rights, critical race theory and are pro abortion. Move to California and you guys will do much much better.

criticalthought101Need more balanceI must say that I do enjoy your podcast some days and other days I find it a bit frustrating . It is important to not just cover the stories that you find interesting or necessary, you need to cover stories that all Texans should be interested about. For example the border issue is very important as the new administration has definitely implemented different policies. I live in El Paso and border issues are of the upmost importance and yet I’ve found almost no one who will report truthfully about controversial things that happen at the border i.e. who gets in and how they get in. In a community with lots of border patrol and customs agents you find out that there are things going on at our border that need to be reported and don’t get the coverage. If you truly want to give Texas the news that’s important then you need to be honest about border issues.

Dr.DramaturgFantastic Statewide NewsThe Texas Standard examines Texas news in depth and brings journalistic rigor to their reporting. It is my favorite news podcast for Texas news stories. They also include a few human interest features occasionally like The Typewriter Rodeo (short poems composed spontaneously) or stories about the accents and linguistic quirks of famous Texans. If you generally like other public radio news programs then you would likely enjoy this show. If your tastes run more towards opinionated cable news networks or Sinclair broadcast news shows with a strong conservative bias than it may not be your cup of tea.

#118Informative & entertainingI like the Texas centered stories. I think they maintain a pretty good balance. I don’t call myself liberal or conservative. I think both sides are over the top on different things! Just like reading my Texas Monthly, I’m not interested in every story, but over all they do a lot of good work! I enjoy the program. Great to have the podcast when I’m out on the road.

EBMarkA Little Too BiasedI love that the podcast is focused solely on Texas and the reporting is great! I just wish it wasn't so biased one way or the other, but that’s impossible to find these days.
-
JubileeTXUnbiased and diverseDiverse range of topics and varied guests. Not a fan of everything about the show but not sure what the negative review is about. Even at times when I wish the host and others on the show would be more biased they stay impressively middle of the road. Keep up the good work everyone.

Birddog817Not NetrualThe Texas focus is great, the rest; not so much. I was looking for an un-biased source for local/regional news. Several reviews made this claim, so I gave it a shot. If your a Texas Democrat with Trump hating tendencies, you’ll love this podcast.

PastorSamBrannonThese guys give a good broadcastI a time of political bizzaro it is vital to hear sanity. These guys are beyond the political poles, they are Texan Journalists and Texas comes first. At the same time, they have a variety of stories that are quite interesting. Just yesterday I listned to one show where they explore the history of pirate radio on the border, (i.e., Mexican Radio.) It was helpful to understand the history of radio in Texas (and yes America too) but more specifically, it pieced together some memories from my childhood.

Rachel CrutcherDoesn’t represent the demographic of TexasI wish this news could be delivered by someone other than white guys. Texas has a diverse group of people but 3 of the first 4 interviews are white guys. They only call on the Hispanic lady to discuss the immigration issue at the border.

sdr66Love the StandardGlad to have a newscast dedicated solely to Lone Star issues. This one always gets skipped to the front of the line when it comes up.

NikmoausExcellent: Texas News through a refreshing lensThe Texas Standard reminds me that there is more to Texas than meets the eye. There are more views, more happenings, more issues than the state is often given credit for and the Texas Standard is bringing them to us every day with fresh reporting and a great, lively format. The hosts are terrific, uplifiting and smart. The content is always interesting. Great work and thanks for all you are doing!
-
SOCO-LOCOExcellent reportingThe Texas Standard does high quality, interesting reporting and is a daily listen for me. I suggest adding more coverage of the growing Texas wine industry. Keep up the great work!

Adam-WadeIndispensable for morning commutes!!This podcast along with Houston Matters on News 88.7 are an incredible one-two punch to be informed about state and local issues. Any decent newspaper/organization already covers national and DC-related stories extensively so I'm grateful to have these two. TX Standard seems to go a lot more in-depth and covers more of the state than my local newspaper. Love David Brown's presentation as well. I got annoyed whenever I turned on the radio and the show was already half over so I had to hunt for this online. Sad to see it's got so few review, but at least it's well-loved.

TejanaInChileSmart and InformativeThis show has been a part of my routine for quite some time now. Texas news outlets can be wayward at times. The Texas Standard delivers relevant and insightful stories, keeping the all too common media bias at bay. I'm currently living in Chile and still feel at home. Thank youuuu!

SafetyAllgoodExcellent podcast! One of the best ones out there! Great stories and very personable hosts that keep you wanting more.

VuelVery well done.It does a good job of being Texas oriented and not too focused on Austin/Houston/Dallas, I find most shows are focused on one of those areas, and you can tell they definatley focus on the state as a whole and try not to zero in. That being said, they do really good reporting in depth.
-
iGreeleyGreat Texas News SourceGreat source for news about Texas. Well done. Could be awesome with two tweaks: 1) Put show notes. A list of topics and stories for that particular show. Helps to know what the stories are. 2) Put chapters; or break the podcast/show into smaller bites. Chapters allows one to skip stories more easily. Separate podcasts for each story (as for the Texas Matters podcast) would also help this issue. One large podcast without breaks is the way of the past.
