    Sadness and thanksgiving.
This is so sad. Thank you for all the important, entertaining, informative work you did for all of us good beer lovers, Michael and GBH team. I hope and know you will come back with even more gusto and fervency. -Molly, a Dallas listener and appreciator. đź’–

    Well Produced, Great Topics, BUT...
It’s such a well produced and thought out podcast from the very beginning, covers topics other beer podcasts barely touch and is overall a very enjoyable narrative about something I’m very passionate about. My problem is the sponsorship by multinational corporate beer companies. I know they were bought by an investment arm of ABInBev, but the increasing corporate beer integration is absurd. People who are this into the craft beer industry have little to no interest in supporting a corporate beer culture that almost destroyed smaller brewers in the US. As a pro brewer, it disgusts me that after years of not being able to break into craft beer, the giant brewers just started buying shelf space and tap handles back. It’s always an uphill battle that can’t be won as a small brewery. Something that pretends to care about beer but takes the enemy’s money is not a friend of craft beer—nor does it have any true journalist integrity anymore. I mean if you have a series sponsored by Miller High Life, that is not good beer hunting. That was my first beer a long time ago, and my honest reaction was, “Why do people like beer?!?” It took a few years before I ever had an interesting beer due to the beer landscape in the South in the early to mid 90s. I would have NEVER drank beer again if I had placed my impression of beer on Miller’s beer. And yet “Good Beer Hunting” is letting them dictate their content. What a shame. It makes me sad about the thing I love so much and its future. I wish you could have reminded independent and free from corporate blood money.

    Invaluable
The most holistically focused podcast about beer out there. The team of deft interviewers that make up the GBH team make their guests, topics, and beer on the whole more approachable. An invaluable resource for understanding why beer means more than just beer.

Brian Roth, piqued is pronounced “peaked”, not “picked”
This is an excellent podcast. Respectful of the craft of brewing and lacking the “bro” factor that seems to plague so many other podcasts about the industry.

    The best beer podcast
The gbh platform is my go-to for keeping abreast of the beer world. Sign up for the email if you haven’t.

    Beer NPR
Long time listener, first time reviewer. Great interviews with great guests. I really enjoy the story telling and digging deeper. Bryan Roth and Kiser are the real deal. Even the fervent episodes with Plachy are a fun listen. The production level is top notch. I’m surprised NPR hasn’t picked you up. Keep it up.

    Great Brew Interviews
I enjoy all the insight about the brew industry. It has opened me up to new brews to try when I travel. Although I rate it a five star, I would ask the creation team to consider shorter episodes; 30-45 minutes would be ideal. Give GBH a listen and hear if you agree.

    “Um hum”
I’m losing my mind listening to episode 191... the interviewer says “um hum” the ENTIRE time Kim from Social talks. It is beyond distracting. Her questions also involve “like...so like.” It’s painful. So not fluid and feels like she is just waiting to ask a question. Skipping to a different episode with another interviewer. PAINFUL.

    Terrific Insight
A truly global publication drawing from not just the artisinal side of the industry but a wholistic view of the industry. They're covering the macro brewers all the way down to the micro brewers. I continue to be amazed by the content that is coming out. I would think it would plateau at one point but the quality and variety continues to improve. Keep up the good work guys! - FF @Drawdy

Beer & The Thoughtful Conversitions That Surround It
The GBH podcast gives you a behind the scenes look at every facet of beer. I’ve been a subscriber for years and will continue because this is the best beer podcast out there and it also sets the standard for other interview style podcasts. High quality audio and production, paired with great interviews from a wide range of beer industry insiders provides an all around great cast. There aren’t necessarily scheduled releases (like some other casts) but there is usually a pretty steady flow of great original content. Recent additions like the 3 minute original music scores (MU) provide a nice variety without taking up much air time. I might be a bit bias being a current Fervent Few member but I have enjoyed hearing the FF episodes that include general GBH recaps, some discussion of a weekly topic and an ever expanding variety of guests. This podcast turned me onto all podcasts. Listen to some current episodes and you’ll find yourself digging into the archives to listen to them all.

Great podcast for people interested in beer
This is an amazing podcast to get to hear from the personalities involved in making, selling, or branding some of your favorite beers. You can learn a lot about the industry and how beer is made, just from listening to these. There’s so much in each episode, I find it’s the only podcast that I will go back to episodes and find something new and enjoyable each time. It wasn’t until finding GBH that I really began to appreciate how much of a sense of community there is around beer. They also started a community (Fervent Few) that includes folks making, selling, and involved in the creative processes around beer, and were kind enough to let average folks like myself in - a fun place to learn a lot from some smart people. Definitely recommend if you like good stories, interesting characters, or beer of any kind.

    Distributer employee
Very detailed, interesting, and deep for anyone interested or working in the industry. Gets me excited about my job and a healthy way to expand knowledge. I love that its not pretentious about certain companies (cough cough) the big four. It's never a bad thing to learn a thing or two from the big guys and small guys alike.

    ohhh brian (sp?) roth...
the podcast is generally great, and even across-the-pond stand-in for kiser, matthew curtis, passes some muster. but jesus god, please please please coach roth to free himself from his redonkulous vocal delivery in his intros. woof. (that, and to guide and mentor him away from his "checking-the-boxes" interview style.) ultimately, other than kiser's huge hard-on for shaun hill (and the shaun hills of the industry), a solidly educational and enjoyable listen 90% of the time!

    Good guests, but...
Michael definitely lands lots of great guests worth listening to. Lately show co-hosts have been conducting more of the interviews which has been a very refreshing break. Love the co-hosts. They're sharp but very down to earth. They let the interview be about the guests, not the interviewer, Terry Gross style. I currently subscribe to the podcast, but it frustrates me that the feed is now mixed with recurring experimental interpretive music episodes; episodes in which Michael, in serial, calls his contributors to catch up; and the new feature--episodes in which Michael talks to the subcriber community about the subscriber community. I of course realize I'm not obligated to listen to these episodes, but it kinda feels like I've subscribed to a mailing list that now sends me lots of junk mail. One final reservation: the pocast is a marketing tool for this brewery brand and marketing consulting company. They interview clients and don't always make that clear. They're not hiding it or lying about anything and the content is usually interesting, but you just need to keep in mind that you're listening to paid marketing material sometimes.

    The Best Beer Podcast. Period.
Good Beer Hunting is my favorite thing to read when it comes to beer journalism because of the depth and quality of the stories they tell. Their podcasts are no different, with deep and engaging conversations with some of the industry's biggest players. Michael Kiser does a great job of asking insightful questions in his interviews that lead to some remarkable responses from those he is interviewing. Together they paint a bigger picture of the beer industry as a whole, connecting the dots in a complex industry that can at times seem disconnected. He's also not afraid to ask the hard questions and to push for honest answers. I would highly recommend this podcast for anyone looking to understand the business of beer on a deeper level or for anyone simply looking to hear much more than one normally does from brewers and business owners at all levels of the beer industry.

    Great conversations
These podcasts are some of the best, relaxed, and natural conversations with folks inside the industry.

    Great Stuff
GBH always provides an interesting perspective on the beer world whether they're talking about the newest trends or the news of the moment. You learn so much about how the industry works and what's on the horizon.
  • SeanPmacNYC
Great range of beer business guests, Kiser keeps conversation relatable
The range of topics/guests here is it's strongest attribute - obviously leans heavy on brewers (and can veer into beer nerdery/technical jargon on occasion), but Michael makes a unique effort to include a wide lens to his guest list, from people in sales/marketing, international markets, bar owners, and guests with a beer history bent. Michael does a good job keeping the conversation relatable, and also setting up why each guest is someone you should know about.
  • Benjamin L Clark
    Great show
Great beer talk coming out of Chicago and lots of content from around the world, which is a refreshing change from all the beer podcasts coming out of California. Does skew a little more heavily toward the bigger breweries. Music is a little weird.
  • ________311
    A trojan horse
This podcast is all about ego stroking Kiser's consulting business leeching off the craft beer industry. He is what's wrong with that industry. If you wonder why it's going down the tubes, look no further than this show.
  • loyal listenerr
    Not a fan...
Michael spends too much time ingraciating himself with his guests who are either "lifelong friends" or have had a "profound" impact on his life. Oh stop it. Although I enjoy the interviews his constant kissing up to his guests (discussing their children, marriages, etc...) turns me off . A little too pretentious for my tastes. Switching to The Beer Temple Insiders from now on.

    Best beer podcast I've heard
I LOVE craft beer and have been in search of a great beer related podcast and I have finally found it. Great podcast with amazing guests from across the country - with an emphasis on Chicagoland. Also make sure to check out his website - I found some amazing wall art to hang.

On the Fence with Good Beer Hunting....
Good Beer Hunting is well produced and quite informative. BUT BUT BUT..... the host/interviewer, Michael Kiser can come off as somewhat pretentious and rude. The most glaring example was the recent interview with Boston Beer's Jim Koch. Absoultely Jim Koch can be a hand full during an interview. But regardless, listen to the interview and it will be rather apparent. Kiser rarely acted this way a couple years ago, but seems to be heading in a different direction. Another small annoyance is Kiser's constant interuptions of his guests. Yes, the interviewer needs to be in control and keep the Podcast moving in a streamlined direction as much as possible. But again, it comes off as though Kiser always needs to let the listeners and guests understand he's as knowledgable as anyone in the industry. When you're constantly interupting and finishing the sentences/thoughts of your guests, it just comes off a little pretentious. There is a huge difference between interviewing skills/confidence and being arrogant! Overall, if Kiser's interviewing intricacies don't bother you, then Good Beer Hunting is a solid beer industry podcast.

    A beacon of light
GBH is easily the best beer podcast out there, but it’s also an excellent resource for an entrepreneur or anyone interested in brand strategy. I feel smarter after listening to each episode. Michael Kiser is a well-prepared and knowledgeable interviewer, always asking questions designed to walk his subjects along the sometimes uncomfortable paths that lead to insight and understanding. A refreshing take on the industry, and a beacon of light in a sea of beer podcasts full of machismo and no focus.
  • gatornlb
    Refreshing
The GBH podcast is a clean and stripped down approach to the world of craft beer. Michael Kiser's interviews with beer industry leaders are fun and intuitive. Every time I listen to an episode, I want to pop open a brew...well done!

A Must-Listen For All Beer People
Beer geek to brewmaster, Michael Kiser's GBH podcast is a must-listen. Honest conversations and compelling guests make for "insider's" content you truly can't get anywhere else. Listen in and get to know the humans behind the beer you love or soon will try!
  • mictohunan
    Top to bottom great.
Kiser is focused on the story. He finds it in the mighty and the small. Also, the fact that he views the podcast as a documentary of this incredible beer culture in the US makes it incredibly educational.
  • Twitchasaurus
    Great
A great, worthwhile listen almost every time. While there are a lot of beer podcasts that fall flat in substance or keeping relevant throughout the broadcast, GBH blurs between great beer producers, branding, and other aspects of the industry from small retailers and distributors, to the world economy of beer, in an insightful way from someone who really understands the culture of beer.

    Excellent podcast!
Found this podcast from The Beer Temple Insiders Roundtable. Liking what I'm hearing so far. Thanks for all the content, I can't wait to get caught up from the beginning.

    The Best!
Kiser puts together a wonderfully engaging podcast the covers not just beer but it's connection to our own culture. Must listen for any fan of beers and interviews.

    Best beer podcast
This really is the pre-eminent beer podcast going. Incisive, provocative, informative and compelling. It features the best interviews, has authoritative commentary and is fundamentally current and vital. The production is also top notch. If you are a beer enthusiast and you're interested in the trends and the personalities behind them this is a must-listen.

A podcast almost as good as 1999 rock classic Human Clay
Wow. I did it. I finally subscribed to the GBH podcast, after more than a year of streaming episodes on the website. Always late at night. Always with tray of generic fig newtons. Shades drawn. Earbuds in. I was nothing but an IP address. Now I am a subscriber. A craft enthusiast. A storylistener. Death to monoculture. Long live GBH.

    Quality content
For those in, or interested in the beer industry. From the who's who of brewers, bar and taproom proprietors, and the people who you should pay attention to in beer and brewing, this is a quality podcast that never fails to inspire and entertain.

    The Best Beer Podcast
GBH is one of a few beer podcasts I look forward to each week. Opinions, commentaries, interviews with craft beer royalty and up-and-coming beer personalities. It is obvious that Michael Kiser puts the time into making this a quality, creative product. Cheers!

    Good Beer - Happy Hunting
Not only have I had the opportunity to contribute to what Michael is doing with respect to the Good Beer Hunting Podcast, but I have the absolute pleasure of listening in with incredible depth to each and every episode. The content covered in the podcast is an outstanding resource and simply entertaining, with some irreverent humor in the mix. Always a joy…great stuff.

    GBH is Outstanding
The GBH podcast is extremely well done. It has given me a lot of insight into beer. Listening makes you feel like an insider in the craft beer industry. But the podcast seems to be as much about people as it is beer which makes it very interesting. I throughly enjoy the stories each episode and can't wait for each new one to come out.

    I'll have another...
A smart and thoughtful approach in providing insight to the craft beer industry. Michael does his homework/research and really seems to maximize the time he has with his guests, all while making you feel like you are in the room with them. From upcoming releases across craft breweries to unique places to find and enjoy your favorite beer, GBH has a lot to offer its listeners. A great way to keep up with some of the trends as well as connecting the recent history of the craft industry to where we are today. Keep up the good work!

    My industry secret
I've been in the beer industry for 11 years now and I've never geeked-out over an industry-related blog or especially a podcast as Good Beer Hunting. He nails a great balance of producer, retailer, distributor. Knows beer and beer culture inside and out. Holds great interviews. Can't say enough about this dude. He's just doing it right.

Mike takes you on a journey with beer as the subject matter. Every story however is full of winding roads that speak to dedication, innovation, great ideas , and challenges along the way. If you love beer and learning . Listen to this podcast , you will come out more enriched undoubtedly.

    Smartest Beer Podcast
Even though this podcast is Chicago based, it is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in learning more about the beer industry without all the hype. I look forward to every episode, even those in which the beer is not available in California. This is a people, industry and lifestyle show that just happens to focus on beer. Love it!

Storytelling. Beer legends. Personal and deep conversations.
The podcast of Good Beer Hunting itself is reflective, knowledgeable, exciting. It is filled with a passion which can fill a listener with joy and interest. Good Beer Hunting itself is an institution. While Michael Kiser may not be the only person working on the Podcast, events, and website, he is the heart and soul of this multimedia cultural force. His knowledge, connections, and degree of love for beer in our current revolutionary times deliver this beautiful podcast. If you live anywhere that their events have occurred, you know what they have done. Uppers and Downers this past January changed my palate, my thinking on beers, coffee, cider and how events can transform food and beverage culture. If you love great beer, interesting people or interviews that regularly delve into something of deeper interest, this podcast exists for you,

    Craft Beer Deep Cuts
This podcast reminds me of the craft beer version of when your radio station does b-sides or deep cuts. It's not a place to find reviews or the latest gossip. Each episode is a journey into a completely different aspect of craft beer with a wide range of characters. Robust, rich, and never dull.
  • jakob lewis
Beer is the jumping of point
Michael uses beer as a starting point to get to the heart of people. Why do they love beer? What role does it play in their lives? From traveling the Czech countryside to Music City USA to keeping it classy in Michigan this podcast goes down like a crisp lager.
  • Agent/Orange
    Good Beer Hunting
The notion that someone would give this series of podcasts anything short of exceptional marks is amusing. The host works to walk the listener through his own personal beer journey, which turns out to be a high-level, thoughtful essay on the trends, accomplishments, and most importantly, the economics of the craft beer trade. This podcast is a must for anybody interested in the business of craft beer. Unlike nearly every other similarly-focused podcast, GBH does not waste time ruminating about the mouthfeel of the beer they're drinking at the moment (though the host definitely enjoys a tipple during recording, which is great). We don't have to listen to a 20-minute diatribe on the hosts' most recent run-in with a beer novice's faux pas. Instead, the host of GBH really works to develop the subject matter and respects his listener in the process. The sheer quality of his interviewees is a testament to the weight the host carries within the industry. That said, it's not super-wonky and does not forget that this whole exploration is fundamentally about something that gives a lot of us a great deal of pleasure: Beer.

    Not just GOOD, it’s GREAT.
Michael Kiser is crazy smart with a super smooth voice and lots of awesome guests. Worth a listen (and then more listens).

    Craft Business
The people in the craft beer industry have stories to tell and GBH makes them heard. As a passionate craft beer fan and someone who majored in business, I love how the discussions are more than just tasting notes. They discuss strategy, marketing, growth and all those other business aspects I geek out about. By far my favorite podcast.
