Three best buddies - Rhys Darby, Dan Schreiber, and Leon 'Buttons' Kirkbeck bring you The Cryptid Factor - a podcast dedicated to all things weird that are yet to be defined by science.Since 2008 they have passionately (and often awkwardly) been discussing 'cryptids' and monsters like Yeti, Chupacabra, Bigfoot and Nessie - as well as weird news of the world, UFO's, Time travellers, robots and space stuff.Though they take these pseudosciences as seriously as they can, they struggle to take themselves seriously at all.Hosted by comedian and actor Rhys Darby, star of top rating podcast 'No Such Thing as a Fish' Dan Schreiber - and Pulling it all together is their best friend, 'Buttons'. If anything goes wrong, it is probably his fault.

I came into the program knowing Dan Schreiber from No Such Thing As A Fish and Rhys Darby from film and television - I now consider myself a Buttons fan as well. Very entertaining light-hearted show that also inspires a sense of wonder about life’s mysteries, which you can enjoy with or without a serious belief in cryptids, aliens and/or magical powers.

Each episode is a crazy ride. It’s like climbing into these best friends heads for an hour or so and learn a few things about crytids. I have never laughed so hard while questioning mine, and their, sanity. It’s my favorite!

What’s not to love!? They are so wholesome, funny, and make you wish they were all your dads! I love cryptids and when I found out my favorite actor had a podcast about them with his friends I was over the moon. Keep putting them out if you guys can and I’ll be waiting to laugh along.

Something wholesome while the world crumbles

Amidst disease, oppression, and catastrophe, these three lads have kept the wonder alive. Though, as an American, I am still trying to figure out what a baby grow hat is, I’ve never wanted to live amongst the joyful insanity that is anywhere but here (and mostly New Zealand). Thanks all, and definitely invest in Cryptid Cabins as that should be the next real estate empire.

Few Cryptids

While I tend to enjoy the banter on the show it’s not very structured and unfortunately a majority of the news stories they speak on don’t actually involve cryptids. I was hoping to hear more about them overall but that hasn’t happened. Overall though the show can be quite funny and the guys have great chemistry. If you’re coming for cryptids only it might not be for you but if you like good banter and comedy with some weird news thrown in it just might be.

The cryptids lend themselves to humor but Rhys and the guys could make anything funny. Always puts a smile on face and curiosity in my spirit! Plus they actually believe, or at least they want to believe. The guest appearances by Arj Barker are fantastic as well! And Buttons, remember that you are appreciated ;)
