    I miss Alex Cranz
That’s all. Still a great podcast.

    Used to be better
I agree with other reviews that the new host tends to ramble too much, and he said once that he doesn’t really care what people say. I hope he changes his mind and listens. Still a great show overall, but it would be great if they would bring back the focus + witty humor they used to have.

Not what it used to be since the election.
I used to enjoy listening to the Vergecast and would do so every time after it came out. Before the election I was getting a little tired of Nilays slightly out of proportion view on AI. Now ever since the last election there has been something that makes the Vergecast something that doesn't seem what they used to be. Nilays super biased leftist views without be able to be a proponent of anything the right does makes this feel like a political show, not a tech show. It makes it feel like fox news always has for me except the vergecast is for the left. I cannot stand when someone sits down and does not have one single good thing to say about the political party they are against because it makes them look like an uneducated person who has shoved their brain into a box. The political content on the Vergecast has been so high that I can no longer peacefully listen to unbiased reporting on tech that I once could. So, either till the next election or maybe I hear that something changed, I'm out.

    Fun podcast with actual facts
Great podcast. Sometimes a bit long but it’s good for long commutes to work. They also do a great job reporting facts and not holding back punches when it comes to Trump’s idiotic administration and the rollback this admin is doing to consumer protections.

    The best
I’ve been listening since 2019, wish I started sooner. The vergecast forever.

Political propaganda has ruined this slow
For as long as the vergecast has existed, I've been a faithful listener. Before scissor vodka was cutting through the night, I was a loyal fan. I was there for every weekly installment of Paul Miller's super consistent segment about the same topic. When the show was Josh Tapolsky yelling "what is happening?" I was a fan. It was the single podcast I listened to for years and years. But ever since this last election cycle has begun the political bias has grown out of control. Our previously intelligent, deep thinking, and over-disclosing (because integrity) band of technology champions has lost all ability to interpret the world without confirmation bias. It's especially disappointing to see Nilay--someone who should be above the psychological tactics of political narrative spins--so bullishly ignore the other side of the political spectrum. Every show is now half good technology banter, half perpetrating ongoing anti-Trump + anti-Elon narratives. It's not the intellectually honest, integrity-driven journalism I loved about the verge. I listen to the verge because I want thoughtful and fun technology conversations. Not politics. And certainly not politics that are one-sided caricaturization of reality. The verge has historically done a great job at giving sober minded praise and critiques of technology. If they could apply that level of objectivity to political discourse, the show would be what it used to be--the best technology podcast on the planet.

    Politically biased and Negative
I’m a longtime listener of this podcast and I’ve always loved it. I used to be so excited to listen every Friday when there were more people on such as Dieter than Alex. Since the election and the departure of Alex, this podcast has really gone downhill. It’s one of the only tech shows that is so extremely politically biased. I understand that politics are a big part of tech especially with tariffs nowadays but the hosts (especially Nilay) are very biased towards the left and do not stay objective at all. They make fun of the current administration and its supporters. Based on other reviews I’ve read it seems that this is really alienating big groups of their audience including me. Other than that the tech news is generally very negative and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of excitement or positivity as there used to be. I’ll still listen for now but I have to say that this podcast is not at the top of my list as it used to be and I fear that in the future I may stop listening all together.

    Too political
The tech content is good, but their case of TDS is so bad that the whole podcast is unlistenable. As with most liberals, they don’t take 5 seconds to stop and think why not everyone thinks exactly like they do.
  • polin9
    Good but too long
I like the podcast and the hosts. Taken 1 star off because they take too long to ramble on about non important details — if that’s cut out, then the podcast becomes a manageable <1hour duration.
  • SIA729
    Mediocre tech podcast preaching politics
I’ve listened to the Vergecast on off for years for the tech info, but the hosts keep pushing their political views on the listeners now. Stick to what people expect which is tech and stop spouting your biased opinions. The recent discussion about Musk and Doge on was particularly disturbing and I am lifelong independent. Can’t listen to this garbage anymore.
  • Burned By Adobe
The hosts swallow too much tech hype
When I hear the host say in 2025 that Amazon Alexa worked? Please. Give me a break. That breaks your credibility. Get outside of the tech mobile. User use of these devices is profoundly low. The last thing we need right now is more hype about digital technology.
  • Chianne61
    They tell the whole story
Ignore the raters who don’t understand politics affects technology. Today, there is no way to discuss technology without politics. Governments control the web, and what products are on the market, what they cost, and what technology is considered legal. Europe is passing laws that effect how technology works in America, not just Europe. China is a communist government which is demanding backdoors built in the hardware. This is the 21st century, not the 20th. Talking about technology means talking politics. Get over it.

    T shirt idea
Great show. You should make a shirt of what David says all the time. (“It’s stupid and I hate it”)

    Stop the political content
Used to enjoy the show. The political biases are destroying this podcast.

    Balance is off
Been listening since the Engadget days. Since David has been hosting the show, the cynicism, sarcasm, and negativity has just ramped up to a point that it is often off putting. The balance between positive/neutral/negative seems to be way out of whack (toward negative). I like technology because it is fun and aspirational. The podcast used to reflect that. Too often now it glosses quickly over positives and spends too much time focusing on negatives and “yea, but”s. The lack of chapters makes skipping over segments much harder. After so many years of listening to this podcast, I’m considering taking a break. Recommendation: if you’re not going to have chapters, maybe keep some of the heavier negative policy stuff to separate Tuesday episodes? Hearing about every proposed wild idea that the administration or Musk has for hours on end is not ideal (for me). Give me reasons to fall in love with tech again and again please.

Fell off a radical liberal cliff
Content has become radical liberal Trump deranged babbling. No real reporting and no tech discussion. Don’t waste time or energy on this hot garbage. Too bad they crashed this so hard. They are intentionally alienating the majority of the audience with their radical left views. They seem to not live in reality where majority of Americans voted and spoke. Moreover they no longer have anything to report on tech. Such a shame
  • Take America back
    Politically bias
Terrible, if you want to listen to politics this is the show for you. If you want peace of mind avoid this podcast.
  • B0rloff
    Political drift
Love the tech, save the political talk for a future political talk podcast.
  • janker
    Yammering and meandering.
They need to stick to tech and check their bias.

    Excellent podcast
The Vergecast is a really good podcast in many ways. First, it gives you accurate and up to date news. Second, the language they use is very easy to understand. And third, it is just a very entertaining podcast and the content doesn’t get boring and repetitive. Overall this is a very enjoyable and accurate podcast. It’s boring to go alone so take this podcast.
  • skurtzie
    Messy
I wanted to like this podcast but host’s meandering way of speaking makes me realize i prefer podcasts with producers who reign in the host’s yammering. Also they sound so “over it”. Hand over the mic if you’re so exasperated with the tech world.

    Why Politics?
I’ve been listening to you guys for about 8+ now. It’s clear that you guys are progressives, fine. I just want to listen about tech, if I want to hear about the Dems, NPR, etc. would be my go to. Thanks.

    The Flagship Podcast
As a long time listener and nerd, it’s baffling why there are there STILL NO chapter markers?! Every other podcast has this figured out — even WITH dynamic ad insertion. It’s bananas that a huge TECH podcast doesn’t support this in 2024…. Also the breathless AI coverage is just absolutely exhausting. Can we be done yet, please? We get it: the models hallucinate, they’re all made by the bro-iest tech dudes with way too much VC funding, and they use a lot of electricity. Let’s move on, PLEASE!

    Been loving the verge
Started listening last year, have really enjoyed! Can’t wait to see where things go this year. Keep it up!

    Big Fan
Just finished listening to your Holiday re-run marathon. Loved it. Great idea. Also, big fan of Decoder, as well.

    One of the worst podcasts
One of the worst recent episodes was a 1 on 1 with a host and some A.I. bro. Host was uninformed and just repeating back whatever guest said. Felt like a sponsored episode. Nilay is by far the worst. Lame rich kid who surrounded himself with sycophant nerds.
  • 63guy
    Good tech, too many opinions
They are great for taking tech, however, they are VERY liberal. Love the segments with no politics, but are very biased when it comes to politics.
  • Tverde66
    Informative, but…
Really look forward to gadget talk and tech info. They do it well. But at times political rants when talking about news seem to spiral, making it hard to maintain interest .

Well meaning but a shadow of its former self.
The Vergecast used to be a GREAT show with well informed hosts giving takes on tech and culture in an easily digestible medium. Now for some reason we have to listen to David’s insufferable and irrelevant voice memo monologue and heard opinions on Tina it’s clear he’s never touched. It’s like Deter, Paul, and a few other smart people left and Nilay is making do with whoever he can find until he finds his exit from Vox. Please spin the Friday show into it’s own feed.

    Came for Tech, not Politics
I started listening to the Verge to hear the latest info and commentary on tech, but once they started pushing a political bias (especially on their X posts) I promptly unfollowed and stopped listening.

    Less AI, still five stars
Longtime listener. Great episodes every time. Love the mix of reporting, analysis, opinion, and chisme. Could use less breathless coverage of AI, because not everything is AI, but nonetheless a five star podcast.

    Longtime listener
I’ve been listening to The Vergecast since it began. I’ve enjoyed the show throughout all its iterations. The current era is no exception. I think it combines journalism and tech in a way few podcasts do well, as lots of consumer tech podcasts are primarily fanboy podcasts. I do have some minor complains. One, I don’t like having multiple shows a week. The Friday show is great. Two, I wish there was more of a focus on serious original journalism. This may be more of a problem with the website than the podcast, but in general I feel like there has been a decline in quality in favor of quantity. Keep it up, though. This is a great podcast, and I will be listening for years to come, I expect.

    Only Like Friday Show
Please split the other shows into their own feed. The Friday show is excellent. The other shows aren’t for me.

    Amateur politics hour
This show used to be my go to for tech news. After the good hosts all left or went into semi retirement, what’s left is watered down non-expert tech opinions that severely lacks expertise. What does stand out though is social political commentary from Alex Cranz — someone who isn’t qualified or dedicated enough to be a political commentator, which is saying something, using the Vergecast audience as target for random left wing rants. I’m unfollowing and you should too.

    Consistently great podcast
I think this is my favorite podcast. I like the chemistry between the hosts. I’m finally taking the time to write a review because I appreciate the experimentation of the format in the latest episode (history of Roku and debate about car user interface). I want to encourage you all to keep trying different and fun formats. It’s entertaining and helps me gain perspective about how technology has pretty much changed all facets of our life over the last couple decades. In my opinion, it’s OK to try new formats and then also abandon them if you’re no longer into it. I’m guessing your audience will roll this the randomness and appreciate the variety. I also dream of sponsoring the lightning round with my coffee company based in Oakland, California. I should probably just start by mailing in some coffee beans. 🙏

    Nilay… slow down a little 😉
The content is great… sometimes it veers off into the very deep weeds, but that’s okay for a tech show like this. Nilay… your brain is so full of facts…. It can be difficult to follow your fast paced diction. Slow down and enunciate for those of us a bit hard of hearing. Much love! 💕

    Politics
Please stay off politics. You are way too far left to be objective. I am through, unfollowing.

Another tech podcast that is losing it
Five years ago this was a giant. Now, it’s approaching “unsubscribe” levels of quality. The best part of the current iteration of the Vergecast is Alex Cranz’s laugh (really, it’s great). If you want the Vergecast to return to its former glory, please re-think your blasé attitude to tech takes. The show’s success has made you soft.

10/10. I look forward to it every week.
I love this show. I recently started listening a few months ago after being subscribed to The Verge on YouTube for years. I love this format because it helps me reduce my screen time while also staying up to date on the tech space. I love the hosts views and how they often challenge each other. You can tell they are coworkers who care passionately about tech and each other. Excited to see what conversations they have in the future. I wish they would do an offshoot of this show that is more philosophical in nature and helps us question tech at a deeper level.

    Getting More Difficult Over Time
I have been listening to the Vergecast for many years now and it has consistently stayed in my rotation. I really enjoy two of the three main hosts and love when they have guests as well. I like the variety of formats with some episodes focused on an individual topic and others covering a variety of areas. I can understand the style may not be for everyone. Update: I have been much more selective with this podcast in the past weeks/months, tending to review the topic and who is on that particular show before deciding on listening - or skipping - an episode. Update 2: My selectivity has only increased since my last update to the point that I need to be actively sold on or highly interested in the topic to listen and am more likely to just skip the average episode. Indeed, my experience listening to one of the cohosts is so aversive that I rarely enjoy the show when listening and have to constantly ask myself “Is this topic work getting through the irritation?” More frequently that answer is becoming “No.” I’m sorry, I hope I am the only one with this issue and that others continue to enjoy the Vergecast.

    Political commentary not journalism
I was open to this show before they talked about industries that I have knowledge in. This is just political commentary masquerading as journalism

    Just great

    Too many acronyms
I like these guys I think they are really thoughtful. but they also seem to have a lack of awareness about how uniquely nerdy they are and don’t take care to properly define obscure acronyms, which can make entire segments of the podcast inaccessible to someone who doesn’t work at the verge office.
