AniaAnnaAmeliaMorning coffee with BroadwayRadioListening to this podcast become a lovely morning routine for me, one of my favorite !

Purple show tunesLove the show!I live 4 hours north of Los Angeles I travel frequently to see musicals and other performing arts. This podcast helps me feel connected, helps me discover shows that will eventually tour in my area. It also fuels my periodic trips to NY where I pack I. Nearly as many shows as Matt. The Charles Busch interview warmed my heart.

Kria88Top 5 fave podsToday on Broadway and This Week on Broadway are among my top 5 favorite podcasts. I usually listen as soon as the episode drops. Happy to be a Patreon supporter.

416in917Just not the same anymore. This show is not what it used to be. Matt is great. Bring back Ashley.

skyleschrisGrowing tiredMichael and Peter are the best part of this podcast! I look forward to the Sunday shows but it’s getting to a point where I can no longer listen to James’s terrible dad jokes and overall cringeworthy commentary that often has more to do with ice cream shops than Broadway shows. It would be more tolerable if he had anything interesting to say but often it seems like he doesn’t even know what year it is…. He recently said “oh yeah, I guess it’s been awhile since Cats closed at the Winter Garden” referring to Back to the Future moving in after its closure. It closed 23 years ago…..

JenR10Thanks Broadwayradio! Thanks for keeping us up to date. I listen every day!
-
Fish0247Great info!I don’t live in NYC, so this is my go-to show for up-to-the-minute news about what’s happening on and off Broadway!
-
CooperLoganExcellent with one glaring exceptionI enjoy the weekly This Week on Broadway and Jan Simpson’s series about Pulitzer Prize winning shows. I also appreciate Today on Broadway on the weekdays, but agree with other reviewers that episodes including Ashley are basically unlistenable, due to her constant, obnoxious talking over her co-hosts and taking over every topic, usually just to hear herself say what’s already been said. I generally have to turn off or just skip the episodes she’s on. Otherwise, I recommend these podcasts.

Just a Kid in LoveThey’re the bestMatt, Ashley, and Grace are phenomenal. I love their hot takes on all the latest Broadway news!
-
cruftonBring back JamesMissed James Marino this weekend. His replacement was manic and overwhelming. What’s the rush? Is there a time limit? His voice drowned out Peter’s and Michael’s.
-
K and the BWhere’s the show?Less political commentary as there are other pods for that. Here I looked forward to a break from political opinion and escape into the arts world.
-
HudgregShakespeare’s SonnetsThanks for your insightful interview with Edmondson & Wells. Great questions & allowing them the time to fully answer. This is a must listen to podcast for all Theater lovers. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Paul In WichitaA Must ListenMy daughter and I listen every day on our way to school. The Sunday show is appoitment listening.

StinkerbellStephGreat content, but the vocal fry is hard to listen toI used to listen to this podcast faithfully everyday, but couldn’t remember why I stopped. Returned today and only a few minutes into today’s podcast Ashley’s vocal fry reminded me what put me off it. To be clear, her thoughts and contributions are interesting, but so hard to hear when given in this tone. So sorry to be negative, but can’t imagine I’m the only person who is put off by this, especially when we are Broadway lovers who cherish great voices.

davidezellEssential if you care about the theaterWe are seven months into the pandemic and I can’t believe how robust this program is even though Broadway closed in March. Everyone on the panel, regular and semi regular, has an enthusiasm and knowledge about the theater that makes me feel like I don’t know anything about the performing arts. We might not have theater but we have This Week on Broadway!

clever fellowA Vital Series of Candid, Illuminating Programs Offering a Comphrehensive Look at Broadway & BeyondThe core of Broadway Radio will always be "This Week on Broadway", the cherished Sunday "round table" discussion between the passionate Michael Portantiere, living encyclopedia Peter Filichia, occasional special guests, and the always charming host, James Marino. They talk theatre news, theatre rumors, theatre people. They aren't afraid to ask questions about anything and, if no immediate answer is on hand, they'll improvise one. The driving force behind "This Week on Broadway" are the show reviews. These aren't soundbytes. They are elaborately crafted, intriguing disertations of offerings from Broadway, Off-Broadway, sometimes Off-Off-Broadway, and regional theatres throughout the country. If one of the gang has travelled overseas, there will always be a robust account of what's happening on foreign stages. Whether each reviewer feels positively, negatively or lukewarm about a production, the arguments for all opinions are spread out beautifully for the listeners to consider, while at no time being didactic in what should or shouldn't be seen, This panel is never prescriptive in a way that would make the listener feel judged for enjoying something one or more of them did not That's the beauty of "This Week on Broadway." It's like hanging out with old friends who have well formed opinions and are occasionally hilarious. Once in a while, opposiing opinions about a show or performance (ahem - Tracie Bennett in END OF THE RAINBOW anybody?) can lead to hardcore debate. When this happens, the gloves come off and the sparks fly. Nevertheless, these guys are gentlmen first and foremost, so they always bring the conversation back to a stable place. Have you not been listening to this show? Are you a theatre person? At all? Are you an active audience member? Are you someone's tyrannical stage mother? Are you a kid somewhere in America or the world who loves Broadway but is struggling to understand why you feel so different from everyone else at school? Every Sunday. Park it here. Episodes are an hour on average, but will hit 90 minutes or more if the meat is juicy. The meat is often juicy. Periodically, there will be side programs on Broadway Radio that explore an artist's craft, from playwriting to acting. Some of these interviews are truly riveting. I think becuase the conversations are so honest. Finally, the program most often heard on Broadway Radio is the Monday through Friday quickie (15-25 minutes), "Today on Broadway," which has been around for more than three years but still feels like an experiment instead of a stablized presentation. Essentially, it's the daily theatre news show, which is great for getting a lot of information fast. There have been a series of ripples with "Today on Broadway" during the last months and it's very unclear at this point who the hosts actually are. They are constantly being jumbled about. This is the kind of program where regularity of hosts serves it best. Especially if this is to be a ritualistic listen, which I assume Broadway Radio would prefer from its audience. All in all, even with my couple quibbles, this is your Number One resource for professional theatre. Broadway Radio provides an unmatchable service to the theatre community and its allies. Your search ends here. Start listening now!

blomst222A mustI love the daily episodes and listen to it everyday on my commute. My week wraps up with This week on Broadway. This podcast is a must for all above- average theater fans.
-
McKennaNelsInformative and fun daily updates on BroadwayI listen to Today on Broadway every morning. The three hosts give informative updates while making predictions for the future and commenting on trends. It keeps me in the loop and starts my morning off right!

Grace M. CoganFABULOUS!!!!I discovered BroadwayRadio last winter when I had a knee surgery and can proudly say not only did I keep up with the daily and weekly podcasts, I downloaded as many archived episodes as I could and binged for days while I was recovering!!!!!!!! Matt, Ashley, James, Peter, Michael, Jan, EVERYONE puts together WONDERFUL shows for us Broadway fans out here in the world and gives us a daily dose of what we love the most!!!! I am proud to be a BroadwayRadio patron and hope to keep listening in the future! Thank you for making me look forward to my alarm going off every morning, friends!!!!
-
Peach818Great daily show and love the hosts!I love love love Today on Broadway! It’s a must listen for me every morning. I don’t listen to This Week on Broadway as much, just because I don’t live in the NYC area and I don’t find myself needing as much detail about the shows, but that’s where Today comes in perfectly. They talk about the highlights that I want to hear, hit up some international news, really hitting all the bases I want.
-
Dana PetersenLove today on broadwayToday on Broadway is a great show, that keeps me updated on whats happening. I’m so glad ashley got added to the line up, she has wonderful voice and hearing her opinion on news was a much needed addition to the show. I do have to saw though that this Week on broadway is a borderline unlistenable review show. The casual misogyny that micheal and peter espouse on a weekly basis is completely unexamined and unquestioned. Ever week i check to see if someone new is on the show, and pretty much every week i delete the show. James if your reading this please please please considering replacing peter and micheal.
-
MomlovesbroadwayMy favorite podcast!I love Broadway and I love these podcastst! It keeps me informed on everything Broadway and I use it to choose the shows I see. Matt, James and Ashley do a great job keeping their audience informed during the week. And they have great rapport and are fun to listen to.
-
broadway2peopleTheater fan essential!Today on Broadway is part of my daily routine. I wouldn’t know half the stuff going on in the theater world without it!
-
TLDCRevTheatrefanBroadway Radio offers the best theatre podcasts. The hosts are knowledgable and the information is timely. Everyone I know who's not in the business relies on me as an expert on what to see, what's happening on Broadway, and what's coming up next. The reason: I never miss an episode of Broadway Radio's podcasts. And when there's a hot show, I already have my tickets because the hosts on Broadway Radio have given me an early heads up. If you care about theatre, especially on and off Broadway, don't miss Broadway Radio.
-
ablowerhatMehGood for up to date information, but the hosts are pretty joyless and their endless shallow opining gets tiresome. They constantly second guess producer’s strategies and are quick to join in on the manufactured “outrage”of the moment.

JayDep1982Good info. Hosts, not so much.I begin every weekday listening to Today on Broadway. I love it because it’s full of good info and keeps me up to date on the happenings in theatre. But to me the best podcasts are the ones that are informative and have good hosts. Unfortunately, the hosts of this show are unappealing to me. I don’t mind people sharing their opinions, but their soapbox that they stand on to make political comments on an almost daily basis get very annoying after a while. Even when I agree with them I get annoyed because it’s SO often, often harping on the same tired thing. Based on the comments they’ve made on the show I know they don’t really care when listeners feel this way, and that’s their prerogative, but as a listener their’s a lot of eye rolling on my part. The production value of the show is mediocre often leaving in mistakes that are meant to be edited out. I do applaud them for putting out a daily podcast on a consistent basis. That’s a lot of work. Overall, I listen for the info but if another daily theater podcast came along with better hosts, I would jump ship.

KatKealyDaily Broadway FixI FINALLY started getting into podcasts again and I love Broadway. I've tried TONS of podcasts and this is one of the podcasts I really love. Most of the time, it's a very quick listen that catches me up on what's going on with Broadway. I may not listen to ALL the episodes, but I have enjoyed going backwards to listen to some of the older shows. The current shows have been very helpful telling me something I had missed on Playbill.com/Facebook and helping us get tickets for a show I know we'll love in October before they sell out. If you love Broadway, I highly recommend this podcast!
-
j4minBenJust report the news!Too many opinions, now. Please just give us the Broadway news. The West Side Story casting outcry was exhausting.
-
matthewdgordonBest Theater PodcastI listen to this everyday. The quality of this podcast is so high, I really appreciate the professionalism and hard work that is put into this. Keep up the awesome work!!!!
-
DavibeyGood show. Thorough. Sexism problem with the Sunday criticsThe main hosts do a great job daily collecting and reporting on what’s what and happening on Broadway. Really appreciate that. The Sunday episodes feature Peter Filichia and James Marino who exercise frequent casual sexism. Example: 4/21/2019 episode James Marino speaking of Fosse/Verdon refers to Gwen Verdon’s first husband as “aggressively trying to have sex with her.” It’s a rape. And rape of an underaged girl. Listening to the two speak about the York Theatre Mufti presentation of Lolita My Love was really problematic. No appreciation for the female director who did a staggeringly profound effort to put Lolita at the center of Show and not letting the audience get charmed by Humbert Humbert. One of them said it would’ve been better if the actor playing him was more good looking charming. This is a musical about a deranged man who preys on a child. So better to stick with the daily episodes and skip the Sunday shows.

Gary 21000Best way to start the weekWonderful and insightful look at the world of theater

RafoliveiraGreat way to stay up to dateThey are funny and they go straight to the point! Great way to start your day!
-
timbnurseThe only daily news that matters!!My favorite podcast. Always entertaining and informative.
-
Stalker ChanningStart your day with James & Matt like I do!Every Monday - Friday first thing I do when I wake up, is turn on Good Morning America and download the latest episode of Broadway Radio which I listen to as soon as I head out the door! Breaking theater news, and surprisingly woke conversations (for two straight white guys ;-) ) are a pleasure to listen to every day! I could do without the occasional sports chat, but ces't la vie!
-
pjhbond007Great group of men and women who are longtime theater loversSmart, honest, thoughtful, knowledgable, witty, caring, serious, educational,,current, and insighteful. Seasoned theater critics that explain their opinions with intelligence and a history of theaters past to draw from.
-
Logan310Love the podcast but...It’s confounding how they mispronounce names consistently. If you’re going to be the broadway radio broadcast please don’t disrespect artists by not knowing how to pronounce their names !
-
RubycueMy Go To...I am in Oklahoma and get to go to NYC once a year. This podcast helps me narrow down my very long list of shows.
-
CoastalSatyrNews, Reviews & Interviews, oh my!This show is a lifeline for a west coast actor interested in the New York theatre scene. Whether it’s the daily news format, interviews with industry professionals or reviews of various shows, this podcast is integral to getting all the latest information!
-
MykelinlhMy favorite podcastI love listening to This Week on Broadway, and Today on Broadway brightens my spirits every morning. I'll add a dissenting opinion: I hate when the shows are too short. Also I love the intro/outro music quite a lot. Thank you!
-
UshsukebsuInformative, but...Overall I enjoy BroadwayRadio. I go the city as often as possible to see shows and this podcast keeps me up to date on what is going on. HOWEVER (and some of these have left me considering unsubscribing, so I think they are worth mentioning), every time they come up with a new concept that podcast automatically downloads too. I can see doing this as an introduction, but I should have a choice of which of the many different podcasts that automatically hit my phone (this week on Broadway, today on Broadway, the sound of musicals, class notes...). It's a between like when U2 decided I just had to have their album on my phone; no, I don't. Secondly, sometimes this week on Broadway runs wayyyyy too long. When I see one that is bordering on two hours, I have to think long and hard about whether I'm going to invest that kid of time. It needs some streamlining. But, as I said at the beginning, I do find value in the multiple viewpoints offered on the podcast.
-
BwayCAGreat, but just a bit too longI really love this podcast. Big theater fan here not living in NYC nad love keeping up. Keeps me from having to read all the websites...daily, consolidated theater news. But for a podcast that is put out daily, 20+ minutes is just too long. 10-12 minutes of solid news (less banter, please) would make me be sure to listen to it every single day. So many podcasts out there, a daily podcast should just be shorter. That being said, keep up the good work.
-
at8axgreat info and banter, but ...... a one-star demerit for continual mispronunciation of names. Maybe it's understandable to miss (George) Takei, but Lunt-Fontanne? Please do better.
-
Keiko91Great show!Love every single podcast in your network. Keep up the good work!
-
imagpcI listen everydayI would give it more stars, but I have come to realize James really doen't contribute much to the podcast and is so low energy I wonder if he is paying attention sometimes. That said---I love Matt! Has a lot of information, He should do the show by himself.
-
Carrie BrighamGreat show!Love the short daily podcasts. They're informative and funny and just long enough. Can't wait to see what's next.
-
G714KrisDon't miss it!Broadway Radio has become my new "walking music" on my phone - I haven't found an episode I thoroughly enjoyed!
-
Y THIS HAPPEN?!My Broadway fixMy obsession! I listen daily on my commute to work. Best Broadway podcast I have found and I have sampled a lot!
-
orrisimoFor Insatiable Theatre Nerds EverywhereAround the country and the world, this FABULOUS (set of) podcast(s), makes us feel connected to the theatrical world we love. Daily. This podcast fills such a major want for so many of us and they do it with charm. A theatre-lover's podcast dream come true.
-
Movidude74RobbJAlways informative and at their best when they disagree. OR when they all agree and hate something that I hate. Tons of news and an invaluable resource Today On Broadway is awesome. I like to think I have my finger on the pulse of Broadway news, but happy to have this resource to stopgap anything I missed the night before. Keep up the awesome work James and Matt
-
NaazjuInformative podcast!Love the "today on Broadway" feature best. Seeing as I live quite far away from New York, it is nice to have some inside information on the goings on of theater.
