    Makes Hungarians smile
My life partner is Hungarian. And whenever we are with his family, or Friends, they get a huge smile from my Hungarian!. They are very surprised that as a Colombian living in Miami I can see so many faces so well. Thank you, and I would love if you could make more of these

    Great!
I am an English speaking American. As an adult, I have learned to speak French fluently, and have done some German, Italian and Spanish language learning over the years. I have gone thru many language learning methods. Thanks to a “Hungarian sweetheart” I decided to start learning Hungarian. It is a difficult language and got discouraged. I stumbled upon this podcast, and have been pleasantly surprised. I think that hosts are very gifted at teaching such a complicated language. The surprise has been how entertaining these two are. There is much laughter between them and I find it enjoyable to learn with them. Thank you for what you have done for us. I highly recommend this podcast. This has been the best course I have taken!

    Excellent series for Hungarian
Have had family living in Hungary for some years now. We have decided that it’s good to help with the little ones learning English but we need to know some Hungarian! Live the personal feel Steven and Györgyi bring to it, along with the many cultural insights. Fantastic resource!

    Great Podcast for Hungarian
I've been listening to this podcast for a couple months now and also studying on the side. My Hungarian is getting better and better, and this podcast helps. I also like that it's free and they don't try to sell you anything or force you into some paid lessons.

    Loving it!
My Hungarian isn't the best so I thought this would be an interesting and educational listen. I'm thoroughly enjoying the podcast and although I have only listened to the first few episodes, my confidence is slowly gaining momentum. I also enjoyed the slight history lesson regarding the currency! Thanks so much and looking forward to more!

    Best on podcast
I want to thank Custis for posting these on podcast for free along with the notes available for download. It is so helpful and i love the repeats where the words are broken down and said slowly. Also they are real life scenarios which are most helpful. Much appreciated 👍

    Preparing for vacation
I just found this podcast and have found it to be very useful. I'm heading to Budapest in 2 months and would like to pick up a little Hungarian before I head there. It helps to use the transcript's from their website along with the audio.

    Easiest way to learn
Still a fan after months!! Truly one of the best ways to learn the language. Steve and Gyõrgyi have helped me understand more about verb endings and explain better than any other method I've tried for years. Thanks I'm so grateful and hope you keep them coming. By the way, Steve, you speak great Hungarian..accented or not! :)
  • A happy listener!
    Wonderful!
I love listening to this podcast, especially since they have a sense of humor and incorporate random prices of Magyar culture. I've recommended it to a couple people already :) it will be great having this podcast since we're going to Hungary for a couple months this year! Keep up the good work!

    Mission
I'm so glad I've found podcasts like this. I leave in about a month to serve a religious mission in Hungary and I really want to be fluent in the language. This has given me a head start. I love the asides about Hungarian history and culture too. I'd love to learn more about the history and culture- especially in regards to religion.

    Great!!!
I just started listening to these today. They are greatly detailed and I like how you slow things down and explain everything. I wish you still updated these. I see it's been 4 years since the last post.

    Very excited!
I haven't spoken hungarian regularly since my grandparents passed on (over 12 years). I am already remembering so much just after the 1st episode! I really enjoy the dialog and the explanation of the use of the language in a real conversation. Thank you so much and please keep up this fantastic podcast!

    Great Refresher
I've been living in Budapest for a while now, and this is a great way to brush up on the basics, especially the pronunciation. Koszi Steven es Gyorgyi!

    Köszönöm
Thank you for producing this series. I had the very good fortune of spending some time in Hungary a few years ago. Before heading into what I would quickly learn to be one of the best places on Earth to visit, I studied the language. Hungarian is a beautiful and complicated language. Oh, the headaches and laughs I experienced as I tried to learn the basics. I surely wish that I'd had access to this program back then. I found the people of Hungary to be very hospitable and rightfully proud of their language, history, and culture. Almost every Hungarian I "spoke" with tried very hard to understand my poor version of their beautiful language. Most also expressed their gratitude for my attempt at learning some passable basic Hungarian. Learning some conversational Hungarian will reward the traveler in many ways. I count my weeks in Hungary as some of the best I've experienced. Köszönöm!

    I'm doing it!
This is just the greatest thing for learning Hungarian. I have been holding back for a while, I wanted to see how it went as time went on. Well, I am still hammering away on lesson 7 with Györgyi and Steve. They are funny, interesting, informative and entertaining they make learning fun and you get hooked on it. Best of all, being an auditory learner, this is a fantastic way for me to learn the language. I have wanted to do this for years (many many many years) and at last I am. My Grandmother would be proud.

    Glad I found you!
I do a lot of driving and what better way to learn Hungarian than listen to Stephen and Gyorgy. Very simple and slow for old people like me to jump start the brain cells in learning the language of my father. Many of the words I learned as a child are coming back to me! Very much enjoy this and I will be recommending all my siblings to subscribe so we can surprise Dad with some of our new learned phrases (Can I get a subway ticket) might be my first one to him!

Love, Tiff p.s. i wonder what you can say to impress some one, like a question or comment, as long as it isn't hard to pronounce or too long! :D Thanks so much!

    Terrific Podcast!
I was hoping someone would do a podcast in Hungarian. It's such a beautiful language. I really like this show because it gives you just a little bit at a time. It literally takes about 2 weeks to really master each lesson so I think the timing is perfect. Really nice job - thank you for taking the time to do the shows I look forward to each new episode.

The best language learning event EVER
Gyorgyi and Steven are the best language teachers I have heard on podcast or CD. They teach Hungarian in a very interesting way and what I have learned stays with me. It is excellent!

    This is great!
I am so excited to brush up on my Hungarian! My parents do speak to me in Hungarian but I usually respond in English. Now that I have my own little one, I would like to speak to her in Hungarian and sometimes forget some basic words. I am so excited to listed to each episode. Please keep posting these lessons! Thank you.

    Thanks!
I'm an American who's spent a lot of time the past couple of years learning Hungarian in Szeged, Budapest and Kolozsvár. But, as many non-native speakers soon learn, Hungarian can be a tricky language. If you're stuck in a place with no Hungarians, it's easy to slip out of practice. Steve and Györgyi's podcast is really great for keeping the vibe alive. I'm happy to say that my Hungarian's good enough now that these lessons are really easy, but they still serve as great practice for pronunciation and as a reminder of those shaky early days encountering Hungarian's mind-blowing grammatical concepts. Steve and Györgyi seem like really nice people too; the lessons are low-key and pressure-free. One of the big problems in Hungarian is the seeming need to introduce complex grammar early on . . . as one of my friends said, "It's like you can't say *anything* in Hungarian until you know *everything!* They've obviously worked out the lessons in such a way as to stave this off to a reasonable extent, without the dialogues becoming stilted. Györgyi's accent is adorable, and I like the goofy dichotomy of Steve's earnestness with Györgyi's enthusiasm. I highly recommend this series of lessons.

Something I have been looking for :)
Wonderful! Will you be recording any podcasts for more advanced listeners in the future?

    Fantastic!
Largely Hungarian myself, I've long been trying to find a course in the language (which my father has mostly forgotten... and only knew phrases about frustrations with the English language from my great grandma) and Hungarian classes are not the easiest to find. While still heeding the advice to not treat this podcast as a substitue for a certified teacher, it's a great way to get a feel for how the language sounds, plus of course learning important situational phrases. Great job.

This podcast is so great! I have always wanted to learn Hungarian and this is so easy to fallow. Looking foward to the next episode.

    Excellent Work!!
This is a great way to brush up on your Hungarian, or to learn it for travel situations in Hungary. Hungarians seem to love that people try to communicate to them in their own language! Even with mistakes, they are very forgiving and appreciate the effort. Congratulations on a podcast well done!
