Mom of 4 up northStart listening!!!This podcast is for those who are new to faith and have questions and also for those who grew up in the faith and need a review or never knew the full context of certain biblical and theological ideas. I LOVE this podcast and can’t recommend it enough!! Thanks Kaitlyn for all you do!
-
MeterMaidFamily Friendly TheologyI appreciate Kaitlyn’s guests who are smart, thoughtful, and relatable. My favorite moments are when Kaitlyn pauses the person being interviewed to have them explain in “common language” sometimes confusing terms. Keep up the good work!

tchflagirlDeep questions, simply answeredI love the kids questions explained in a way anyone can understand. I get a lot out of this discussion, and enjoy sharing it with my teens

nicolpeterson128GrowthListening to your podcast, has given me growth as a Christian. Thank you for always sharing helpful insights on The Bible and helping us understand all the gifts God has given us.
-
gratefulbakerneySO well doneThank you Kaitlin for the time and thoughtfulness you put into all your work. This podcast has encouraged me in, enlightened me and equipped me to engage in a better way with the littles at church. Appreciate all you do & your beautiful perspective.

JJ McCoolsGoodGood podcast with interesting questions but it feels like it’s 30 min of ads and 5-10 of actual content. Really broke the flow of the conversation.
-
vwaudijagBig fan of the showIt hits just right on all the levels and hits such a wide breadth of theology such specific and respectful ways

NooenipeCuriosity isn’t just for kids!I appreciate this podcast! I think it’s really important for us humans, even when we think we know something, to be able to explain it so a kid (or a newbie) could understand. So far the guests I’ve heard on here have been helpful in that regard - quite knowledgeable yet making the ideas and terms approachable. Stay curious, friends! Update: a few weeks in, and this podcast has exceeded my expectations!

LamponmyfeetCan theologians speak in plain language? The explanations to kids’ questions from the theologians are meandering and muddled-not very clear and hard to understand even for adults (I don't think this podcast is for kids but still). Sometimes they don't even answer the questions. I don’t think theologians know how to speak in plain language. I like it when Kaitlyn tries to clarify the answers at the end of each episode.

@jeffsolofKids ask the darndest things. And Kaitlyn (and her guests) answer them. These past few weeks, I’ve been walking about the town in search of fresh air, iced coffee and something numpty (family term) to eat with it. On many of my walks, I’ve been listening to this new podcast from @KaitlynSchiess. Kaitlyn’s a Ph.D. student in theology at Duke, but is already an accomplished author and speaker. She’s a natural, especially, with kids — and this podcast features their questions which are, as often as not, things we would like to ask, ourselves, but are too embarrassed to own up to. Like, how do we know the Bible is true, or — my favorite — if nobody had had a baby before Eve, what did she think was going on when she got pregnant? Did she think she had just eaten too much fruit? Kaitlyn talks with a different theologian each time, and they’re wonderful people — but she always keeps them grounded (they’re answering a kid’s question, after all, and big words don’t help) and also chimes in (post-production) with helpful definitions and clarifications. From an Orthodox Christian perspective — mine anyway — the theology has been, so far, entirely Nicene, and I’ve found little, if anything, to be concerned about, much less object to. If nothing else, the podcast is a great reminder that while we may not be in full sacramental communion with other Christian denominations, we have much in common, and even much to learn. I highly recommend it!

Master KrissDelightful! The Trinity is such a hard concept. Great job and thank you for all you contribute for the KOG! Best (though always limited) illustration I’ve found for the Trinity is a fidget spinner. Allows me to talk about the communal dance between the three persons. Pastor Kriss from the rural trenches 😉 Peace be with you!
-
Light sabersMy new favorite!I love this approach to questions of theology. The questions come from kids, but, really, these are questions adults are asking as well. Kaitlyn and her guests deep dive into theological waters in a way that’s easy to follow and fun to listen to. Well done!
-
Lincoln Project fan friendWonderful podcast!Kaitlyn and her guest discussed important, and sometimes complex, theologically concepts clearly and in an inviting manner. I love that she invites children to ask important questions. Then, she interviews other experts (as she is one herself) for possible answers.

kelsklorGreat Concept, Not Loving the DeliveryI am wondering if a lot of these 5 star reviews are coming from Holy Post Listeners or actual listeners of this podcast. First, I’d like to mention that I listen to the Holy Post and appreciate Kaitlyn’s insight there. I think she is wise, level headed, and brings a lot of value to those discussions. I love that she is branching out to do her own podcast. However, and maybe I’m just not the target audience (but as a mom of two very curious children, I may be??), this podcast is missing the mark for me (and my kids). I don’t think it’s the fault of the host or the guests, but maybe they define “making theology approachable” differently than me? I’d imagine an academic host and an academic guest would define and implement “approachable” differently than me. I found some of the words used and topics discussed to be over my children’s heads, and really, sometimes over mine as well, and I was raised in the church (with a parent in ministry, so when I say raised, I mean I was there all the time!) It feels like this podcast would benefit from some more editing / clarification of points made. Also, it’s a lot of discussion and off topic banter which can actually be confusing for kids when asking a question. (Rabbit trails and hypotheticals that may or may not make any valuable point). This podcast would be much better at the 10-15 min time level and force both the host and guest to be direct and elaborate on important points only. I want to listen and enjoy this podcast with my kids, so that’s honestly why I’m leaving this review because I think it could benefit from some constructive feedback.

MinnetexChristians need to talk the language of kidsMuch needed podcast - very well done

Stan Van SantWonderful Concept!Curiously Kaitlyn is a wonderful concept, but unfortunately uses liberal theologians to promote liberal theology. Much of the content is sound and helpful, though much isn’t. I’ve been enjoying Foundation Worldview Podcast by Elizabeth Urbanowicz. Doctrinally sound and anchored in the Christian Worldview, she has a lot of material instructing children 4 & older in theology, logical thinking, and Christian Worldview. Her podcast answers questions parents send her.

Jimo70Kids speak their minds, adults benefit! What a great idea for a podcast! Kids ask great questions and Kaitlin, along with a guest, tackle answering the question and the implications of the question. It is compelling listening and highly recommended!!
-
Max()MaxKaitlyn jumps right into the questions that we are to adult to askKaitlyn lays open the inner thinking of theology and deals with questions that we want answers to, questions we adults are too adult to ask.
-
Recycled. MomFor the child in every adultIngenious podcast in the format of questions asked by curious children that adults can truly learn the answers to as well. Kaitlyn started on The Holypost and I’ve followed her there as well as through her books. Her love of children and their innate curiosity plus her deep enjoyment of learning & teaching are the perfect pairing for Curiously Kaitlyn.
-
McshanehenryEasy to understand doctrineFun new podcast that makes theological topics easy to understand. I like how she defines academic words during the podcast when guest mention them.
-
Caitlin BarrickLove it!This podcast is so great, and I have already learned a ton from just 3 episodes! Thank you to Kaitlyn and her guests for making theological conversations easily accessible to anyone and everyone.
-
H.AnneLove it!I love everything about this concept - taking the questions kids ask that are easy to disregard, but then delving into the deeper theological implications those questions touch on (and doing it in a way that kids and parents can both enjoy!)
-
chipsndipsMade for kids, good enough for adults!!As a parent you’ve had your kid ask “how does this work” or “why does the sun shine” - and if you take the question seriously it leads to a cascade of follow up questions until your patience gives out or the answers get harder than you know how to answer. In this podcast Kaitlyn has immense patience, and finds experts in the field to answer when the rabbit trail gets REALLY hard. Everyone will learn something, every episode!!
-
Kjt146Great Concept!I love this! Breaking down complex questions of theology with the ‘simple’ explanations we need. A little disappointed there is no ‘News of the Butt’, but I looked passed that disappointment and gave this 5 stars anyway because it was so cleverly put together.
-
echobase_2000Kids ask the questions grown ups don’t think ofHere’s the concept: kids ask questions about God, theology, and the Bible and smart people respond. This approach is way less intimidating for adults who are afraid of not understanding the big words. At first I thought it might be a show for kids but that’s the entry point to bring us all in the conversation. Bonus points for the way the show is produced, with brief interjections to explain words the scholars use. That’s a very necessary feature and it doesn’t take from the flow of conversation.
-
GirlMeetsWordsNot Just for KidsThis show is not just for kids. Curious people of any age will learn a lot from this show that never talks down to anyone, but meets everyone at whatever level they’re at. You can tell Kaitlyn is in her element here. She takes the kids’ questions as seriously as the theologians she interviews, and she does it all in such a kind, gentle, and winsome way. It’s truly a joy to listen.
-
Maybinator21AmazingSeriously, this podcast is so good. We need more kids in theology and MORE FEMALE VOICES! Let’s be honest most of us never grow up, and we have the same questions that kids have. I’m a family pastor and I love when a kid asks a question and all the adults lean in because they’ve been thinking the same thing but are afraid to say something. You need to listen to this podcast, it’s so good. The only thing it is missing is more news of the butt lol.
-
Ndb2314Just love it!I have followed Kaitlyn for many years through The Holy Post podcast, and now I am so excited for this simple dive into theology and the way she is presenting her podcast! I’ve only listened to the first, but I can already tell. I’m going to be listening on a regular basis!!
-
chifambaThank you Kaitlyn!I have dreaming someone would do this for years. Jephat in Zimbabwe
-
IndiglowbluFinally Theology without going to seminaryThis podcast is a wonderful, wise and thought provoking discussion of those questions we all have but are not sure who to ask and whether we will ever get an answer we can digest and purposefully ponder. Kaitlyn is right where she needs to be. Talking with her favorites, the kids and us big kids!
-
fbstrickDeep eleganceKaitlyn takes the deepest questions of life and elegantly communicates answers for living. Using children’s questions is brilliant and the post production makes this pod a fun and engaging listen. Thank you for doing this pod!
-
GratChiselImportant and beautiful!Super excited that this podcast exists
-
nspindlerDeep thoughts made accessibleKaitlyn does a great job of making really deep concepts easy to understand.
-
BenoblesLooking forward to moreThank you for the concept and for making this format so well made. Hope for possible dialogue with the kids in future. Also, what’s an example of “butt news” that will never be on this show? God bless
-
musigal4HimBravo!Thank you for this podcast!!! I am recommending it to my friends with children. Not everyone has been as fortunate as me to grow up in. Christian home and also go to a Christian College. And though some days, “News of the Butt” makes me laugh- we certainly don't need another one! ( unless it was titled “News with a ‘but. . . ‘ “ lol!!!) I was happy to meet you over the phone with Megan when you came to do Training Ground! 🥰😅
-
OALNRJWCuriosity as a virtueGlad to be the first reviewer! I’ve always been a fan of the Holy Post universe and I’m excited for this new podcast. I appreciate the desire to answer questions from kids - those little ones can sometimes have the best questions that adults can tend to ignore or overlook. I am looking forward to future episodes.
-
Jo4$Accessible theology delivered with joy!Kaitlyn Schiess is a faithful voice at the intersection of contemporary Christianity and American politics. In this podcast she nudges adults towards a posture of childlike inquisitiveness to embark on what I (and hopefully others who wish for prophetic witness in a political sense) yearn to see: a more communal and daily process of “doing theology” that might help a fractured people step towards Christ as one church. Also it’s fun! 🤩 Kids say unpredictable and amazing things
-
MomToFour2017Added to “listen first”I have always loved Kaitlyn’s thoughtful, knowledgeable and gracious contributions on the Holy Post and was so excited to hear of the concept of this new podcast. I really enjoyed the first episode. The length of it was perfect. Hopefully all will be a similar length, as it made it possible for my kids and me to listen in one car trip. Led to great discussion between with them, as well. I am excited to continue to share with friends and family - believers and skeptics both.
-
Austin DonahooHumble and CuriousKaitlyn’s new podcast combines both a humility and curiosity in a pursuit of truth that we could all learn from. If you want a podcast that combines the genuine questions of children with the insightful discussions from leading scholars, this one is for you!
-
JDJCuretonA Beautiful Gift to The ChurchThis podcast is truly a beautiful gift to all believers who wish to delve into theology in an approachable way! Kaitlyn understood the assignment when Our Lord said “Let the little children come unto me, and do not hinder them; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones such as these!” Also I’m glad the whole time is spent on theology and not Butt News.
-
GardendoodlerSo RefreshingThis is so fresh and I love the format. Jesus said to let the children come to Him. I think because they ask the best questions … simple and to the point. Also, if they don’t understand, they let you know. As adults we need to remember to learn about God in this way, too. Be humble enough to say - I don’t understand. I’m really looking forward to more of this Podcast!!

DvrenkenSmart and fun theologyClever, Clear, and Cute answers for us Laypeople.

wam957Deep answers to childlike curiosityI just listened to the first episode of Curiously Kaitlyn. I love the format of taking the questions about God from kids and answering them or at least interacting with them through a conversation with Kaitlyn and theologians. Kaitlyn has an open, curious and peacemaking approach to these deep questions. She wants to bring along as many people as possible by helping us understand who we are, who God is and what he has done for us through the incarnation, life, death, resurrection of Jesus. She tries to “put the cookies on the bottom shelf so the kiddies can get them”— as Dr. Harry Ironsides counseled Bible teachers. I think you will love this podcast and I pray it brings deeper understanding of the wonderful truths of God.
-
sadieTSgregorySubstance that’s sweet! One of my favorite practices, particularly when I feel overwhelmed with fraught topics and/or lofty theology, is to pick up the Jesus Storybook Bible. Something about getting back to the basics helps me connect to Jesus — and thus engage the world more graciously and confidently. I can already tell that’s the role this podcast will serve, as well and I’m so grateful for the hard work y’all have put into this kind gift to us all.
-
McWeaselA Wonderful Meeting of the Minds :)Kaitlyn is a secretly brilliant scholar who loves children, theology, and helping us ALL talk about and understand ideas about God. Plus she is just funny and thinks the best of everyone. Love to hear how all these unique things mix!
-
Bigdave1159That giggle…She has the cutest giggle. But seriously I love her thoughtfulness and desire for a deeper walk with God through His word. I’m horribly jealous of her ability to clearly explain deep theological issues with a patient, caring attitude. Ok, she doesn’t like New Of The Butt… other than that? Awesome!
-
JennRae356Love it!Incredible content answering all the questions we had as kids and forgot about! As a mom of two and a kids ministry teacher, I am so grateful for this resource. Also love Kaitlyn’s interjections to define and break down ideas. Will definitely be listening every week!
-
GrannygoblinExcellent !I’ve been a Holy Post listener since 2020. I’m so excited about this new podcast. I also have these questions for theologians. Thank you!
-
DancershellGreat Accessible Theology PodcastI love Kaitlyn’s enthusiasm and passion that shines through each episode. This podcast has questions by kids, but answers theology/Bible questions in a way that anyone can understand and learn something new. I appreciate this as a parent trying to answer tough questions for my kids that I don’t have answers for myself.
-
KlchoThe BestI have been a huge fan of Kaitlyn Schiess! I’m so excited about this podcast. I find her insightful, and appreciate how carefully she thinks through her responses and thoughts.
