    Loved it!!
What a cool story, and refreshing to hear some true crime that does not involve murder, rape, torture, kidnapping. It is about as close as one could come to victimless crimes, and about as likable a criminal as I have ever come across.

You can fall asleep to it… that’s about it.
I used to looked to Wondry for exceptional content. They just like everyone else are just pushing out true crime content to keep up with demand. This is so flat and boring that I will probably use it to fall asleep to. The people they interview are boring … I could go on… but you get it. I listen to a podcast once that was all about fact checking a mobster’s statement that they killed a Pope. These guys can’t really fact check anything so everything is then “ extraordinary “

Couldn’t get past the first episode.
The journalist showed his cards in the first episode referring to the subject as an illegal alien.

    Enjoyable
I always enjoy a true crime story that does not involve violence and goes behind the scenes with the criminal, victims, family, and law enforcement. This story spans many continents and years and is a pretty impressive piece of journalism. Enjoyed this

    Very interesting!
Wow! Really got pulled into this one. I’ve always loved listening to podcasts like this on historical subjects, but something modern like this and knowing Juan is still out there kills me! I would LOVE to spend a day with him! Give it a listen.

    Fun
Great storytelling, but do your own research for context and it’s even better! While it is not mentioned in the podcast, it was a strange delight when I realized he burglarized a central member of one of the world’s dirtiest and most unaccountable con families. Perhaps a podcast on the GoIds should follow.

    The Best Podcast of 2023
Great job host and producers. And a heart felt thank you to Juan for sharing so openly. I don’t know how I feel about the producers sharing Juan’s passport switcheroo during airplane rides, think you crossed the line there by threatening Juan’s safety. But overall, job well done.

    The “Detective” & The “Journalist”
Decent podcast overall. Compelling story. Not the finest production I’ve ever heard, yet still entertaining. *HOWEVER, I’m almost finished with episode 5 and… [**Chrissy and Dar, you both know what I’m about to mention and you should be more ashamed than you sounded in the episode…] …and it comes to light that throughout this whole storied and winding, high-stakes perpetual cat and mouse saga spanning several years and almost as many continents, these 2 super sleuths had NEVER CHECKED SOCIAL MEDIA for the fugitive until it was suggested by Juan Carlos’s non-professional, childhood friend from a tiny, rural town in Colombia. Oh and sounds like dude had a lot of pics and multiple accounts on FB!! Seriously guys?? 🤦‍♂️How can this be? I mean, sure, one wouldn’t expect that someone who is trying to evade the authorities would be so blatant as to post on Facebook. But you’ve gotta check!! Right?? Riigghhtt???? What happened there? Did Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys tell you that they were gonna cover that angle, but ended up dropping the ball? Jeez, guys. One of you is a journalist? And the other one is a police detective? Oh, and the way you guys just glossed over it. Way to own up to your mistakes there.👍 Honestly, I don’t know if I can continue with this podcast, this might be a dealbreaker for me…
