Funny Cuz It's True with Elyse Myers

4,417

Hello, and welcome to my podcast. I first went viral on TikTok after telling the story of how I got stuck buying 100 tacos on a first date. Since then, it’s been a wild and crazy ride. I now have millions of eyeballs watching my videos on a daily basis (which is just a terrifying number of eyeballs, honestly).

Each week on my podcast Funny Cuz It’s True, I’ll be sitting down with my favorite creators, friends and comedians to find the stories that have stuck with them and changed their lives in small ways. Not so funny moments that have become funny over time. I want to know how they handled these situations and learned to laugh about them years later. How do they do it? Great question, I’d love to tell you (but you have to listen to find out).

HOW DID I NOT KNOW YOU HAVE A PODCAST?!
I was scrolling through reels the other day and found a few of yours like I always do, started scrolling through JUST your videos and found one of you recording a podcast and I about lost it. I came here and followed immediately and started listening like the next day! I've only heard the first episode and part of the second (literally as I type this) but I've already almost cried twice and already feel like a new person just hearing the things you both had to say! I love those lines people drop when they have no idea how powerful it'll be to us! Thank you for those! They help me be a better person. Thank you for sharing yourself with us in the way that you do! You are truly one of my favorite online people! 🫶🏼

Elyse Myers makes me feel like life is worth living despite all of the awfulness in the world. Love her content and authenticity, it’s contagious

    Love this podcast
Elyse’s voice is so soothing to me. Just naturally funny. Love to here all of her stories!
  • PA-Kate
    Wow…
Elyse is, hands-down, the best human…so honest, so loving, so funny; she says what many think, but never say, and normalizes the neurotypical. For the first time in almost 5 years on earth, I don’t feel “alone” in my quirky thoughts.
  • Jwilliams90
    Authentic and amazing
I love Elyse Myers. She is so funny and I’ve been watching her on Insta and now I get to listen to her pod!!! I’m so excited and can’t wait to go through them all! She’s so wonderfully authentic and lets herself just be who she is. It’s quite inspiring. I love her awkward stories, they are callbacks to all of my own awkward moments. It’s just lovely.
  • mariegael
Wish they were like her reels
I would listen to your stories all day. You’re hilarious. I just don’t like the guest format as much. Guests shows are hit & miss to me bc if I don’t like the guest, I don’t enjoy the episode. I wish this was more of a solo podcast. I think you can carry it. I hope you move to just storytelling one day. Cheering you on

    Bring back longer episodes please!!!
I adore this podcast and elyse. Leaving the review because i miss the 40-minute+ episodes!!

    Meh
I’ve enjoyed a few of the guests but I absolutely loathe the way the host interrupts with edits to add her own thoughts.

    ❤️
LOVE it! In an ideal world there'd be fewer ads but I'll gladly listen to them to help creators like Elise make a living!

    Love love love
Elyse is your best friend. Period. No ands, ifs, or buts. She is funny and entertaining, but what I truly love about her and her content is her ability to be humbling and open about her internal struggles. I wouldn’t have had the courage to make light over my overthinking brain if I hadn’t watched/ listened to how she turns it positive and light. Thank you for sharing your stories and all of the wonderful interviews

    So Relatable
Elise’s podcast is the most relatable podcast in the world and I love listening. Seriously-I laugh, I cry, I vigorously nod my head. Haha keep up the great work!
  • JoActor
    I laughed. I cried.
Seriously, I laughed, and I cried. I won’t get into the specifics. I just randomly found Elise on TikTok and thought I’d check out her podcast. Two episodes in and I’m hooked. I laughed. I cried. My heart is happy.

Smiling in the Car (with Elyse Myers)
After listening to tons of True Crime podcasts for a long time, I decided I needed to find some uplifting shows to subscribe to. I found a few, but when I saw my favorite Instagram creator had one, I jumped on it faster than you could believe! The mix of comedy and genuine compassion from Elyse is enchanting and I look forward to Wednesdays every week! Thanks Elyse! Keep it up!

Feels like I’m hanging with a friend
I cannot describe how happy I feel listening to this podcast. Elyse is not only so relatable she asks such insightful questions! I love the commentary throughout the interview! I find myself smiling and laughing as if I were with a friend!

    It Doesn’t Matter
Myers was great on the It Doesn't Matter Patreon podcast. Really funny

    Really good storytelling
I really love seeing all the videos on instagram. Now that I discovered the podcasts, I’m trying to catch up on all of them.. . So many times I laugh with Elyse as she tells her stories. . Her knack for telling stories is what makes her videos. she’s a ray of sunshine in her unique special way. . As someone with a panic disorder /generalized anxiety, hearing Elyse sharing her stories in such a genuine and heartfelt way is amazing. It’s refreshing and a breathe of fresh air for someone to be so open and honest. It normalizes things for the people that battle with mental health issues.

    Great show
Elyse is a true gem. Her energy and spirit is so special. She’s also so relatable. The way she tells a story is so fun. This is a great podcast!
  • Okiedokiedokey
    Stop stopping
The asides are so distracting and not usually very amusing. Pointing out ever moment of your own awkward thought process isn’t as funny as you think.

Is it weird to say I’ve missed you?
I’m so happy I found this podcast! I deleted my social media apps almost a year ago for a variety of reason and haven’t wanted to download them again…but I’ve really missed your stories and the way they make me feel so normal 🙃 so thank you for this ✨

    Music to my earholes
Easily in my top 3 favorite podcasts. I eagerly await each episode. I love Elyse’s authenticity, vulnerability, and quirky sense of humor. Her effervescence keeps me bubbly for hours after listening. Thank you Elyse!
  • loomy_loo
    The authenticity we all need
Listening to Elyse embrace herself so wholly and hilariously has been a huge guide for me as I try to do the same❤️
  • SaraMarie1836
    10/10 would recommend
Absolutely worth giving a try, this is my new favorite pod cast. Elyse just makes everyone seem like a regular human even though she’s secretly (kinda secretly) fan girling just like the rest of us would be.
  • Eviben
    Loooove this podcast
Elyse Myers is just the most beautiful soul. The way she presents herself in these interviews is so charmingly authentic and makes me feel so much less alone with my mental health struggles, many of which we share, which I found out while listening to the podcast. I love this podcast and hope it keeps going for a long, long time.
  • Tmarzouk
Thoughtful, Funny, and Oh So Relatable!
This podcast is like a fun discussion with close friends… lots of laughs while exploring the things that connect us. I especially enjoy Elyse’s storytelling style - it’s fresh and interesting.
  • Writingherlife
Like a weekly visit with a friend
I may be a little partial, but I’ll listen to-watch just about anything Elyse does. This podcast is one of the few I never binge…because I listen each week, the minute I have a few minutes. Thanks for bringing us along for these conversations (and your awkward moments). You make us all feel a little more comfortable with our own kinds of weird.
  • Kaydee Monty
    Asides
I liked the Julia interview aside from the asides. Idk if this is a regular thing the host does but I don’t like it. It derails the whole flow of the interview. I’m here for JLD not for random thoughts from the host. They’re itether funny or insightful. Just distracting.
  • Medn4me
    One of my two faves
My two favorite podcast these days are Elyse Myers’ “funny, cuz it’s true,” and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ “wiser than me.” Interesting to realize that these are two women at such different places on the spectrum of their careers — Elyse a young woman just getting started, Julia well into an accomplished and rewarded career — yet both are humbly, vulnerably, and truthfully exploring their questions and learning from people with experiences and insights to help them learn. And I learn, too! Different as these two women are, they are kindred souls, and I listen to each of their podcasts feeling like I’m lucky to be making a dear new friend.
  • Lriel
    Best podcast
I love how authentic and raw this podcast is. Elyse literally presses pause mid interview to tell us what she was really thinking at that moment in time. It’s beautiful.
  • McKinneyB
    Listen now; DO IT! 😬
Elyse is awesome and one of the most deserving human beings of this platform that I can possibly think of. The content is also fire. She makes me proud to be a fellow millennial and I’m a forever fan now. Truly blessed to have stumbled upon this podcast and would recommend 10/10 any day, any time. Listen now! Do it. 😊
  • Davejfred
    Fantastic
This is immediately my new favorite podcast. I intentionally switched from Spotify to follow here on Apple as well. (Double follow, Double algorithm, right?) I am so glad I discovered Elyse. I too am a neurodivergent human who has struggled to find company on my wild ride through brain chemistry in all its glory. She is so honest and her willingness to be vulnerable on the toxic minefield of peer-generated content…media…whatever the right term for social media that is also visual and audio media…doesn’t matter. This is a must-subscribe show. This is self care.
  • Hannah McP
    Love love love the podcast!
I found Elyse on instagram about a year ago and love love l or her account. I started listening to the podcast and completely binged the entire series while on the drive to and from picking my kids up from school (when the kids are dropped off or not picked up yet…). Such a good podcast and so easy to listen to. Well done!
  • AHenry22
    So funny and relatable!
I first saw Elyse on Instagram and knew I had to check out her podcast. I listen to Funny Cuz It’s True while working and it makes me laugh out loud more than anything I’ve ever listened to. My favorite part is the intro with the “That’s a great question, I’m so glad you asked…”. I enjoy the interviews with the guests too, but the intro always is just so relatable. Also, I absolutely love the pauses where Elyse breaks in to have a secondary thought on something she and the guest talked about. It sounds exactly like she went back to listen to the interview and was like “Ohhhhh…..” and just has to insert some very important (sometimes funny, sometimes inspiring) nugget of truth.
  • ahawkity
    Great part of my week.
I have been a fan of Elyse from TikTok for ages. I adore seeing Elyse grow and come into her own professionally. She is so real. Her interviews with Rainn Wilson and Julia-Louis Dreyfus were absolutely delightful.
  • Debbiedo1955
    Love this Podcast
I caught you originally on the TikTok and Instagram videos. Once you start watching, you just cannot stop. You make me laugh with your stories. I also appreciate how real you are in your stories. Sharing your pain, your love, and your appreciation of people.
  • Adobequeen
    Funny and touching!
You bring a sense of clumsy grace to what you do, I mean this in the most positive way I promise! I love your personality and everything you do, please keep being honest and yourself ♥️🌈
  • a.ackerson
    A thousand times yes.
I am 100% loving this pod! Ah, elyse. Our tiktok Queen. You killed this and I am here to support you in this too!

    Moms
I’ve just listened to the first episode. I’m sure this will be on my regular rotation. Please tell me you end every episode with a call to your Mama 💗

    You’ll laugh and you’ll cry!
I went back to work a few months ago and all of a sudden have alone time in the car. What else to do but listen to Elyse Myers’s podcast! I enjoy it so much. I laugh out loud multiple times during each episode and smile pretty much the rest of the time. I appreciate how much Elyse shares with her audience. She is so open and real. My drives are so enjoyable. The longer the solo drive the better. More time to listen to Funny Cuz It’s True!

    Lightening Things Up
I am an avid true crime podcast listener. I’ve noticed though that sometimes I need something a little brighter to lift my mood & Elyse is always my go to! She will no doubt make you smile & likely give you a solid giggle, at the very least. :)

I live her and her podcast. Yo! I can relate you
You make me laugh this you make me live longer. Thanks

Elyse is the voice in my head
I totally love Elyse!! She is so funny and so real it’s completely refreshing. Elyse just has a way of reminding us we are all just trying to make it day to day without embarrassing ourselves to the point of never leaving our houses again! The constant monologue I have running in my head is now an “Elyse style” voice and I love her for it. I’m not sure where she lives but I need to find out so I can causally run into her at the local grocery store and make her be friends with me. Not like in a single white female kind of situation though….crap I’ve said too much and now I sound crazy. Sigh. Just listen to her podcast it’s great.
