    Good, balanced discussion
I always enjoy hearing their thoughtful views on various shows. They watch the episodes multiple times, and have a good discussion. They aren’t afraid to point out things that don’t work.

    Pretty good
Enjoy the show and analysis of each episode. But I do wish the podcast had two hosts that really enjoy and are fans of Lord of the Rings. You can tell one of them is a big fan and has a passion for the LOTR world. But it is clear the other host doesn’t really care. You can sum of all of his feedback on each episode with “ehh it was okay”. I would enjoy the podcast more if both hosts showed up excited to talk about the show.

    Garbage.
From there terrible jokes from not understanding simple storylines from not being able to pronounce easy and well known names the show is just trash. Both of you are lucky people with an actual brain don’t combat the STUPID and RIDICULOUS things you say. Thank god I don’t have to listen to them for another 2 years. Hopefully you guys actually get good at this podcast thing and the show improves.

    Keep Digging
Half of my enjoyment of The Rings of Power comes from the show itself. The other half, this coverage. Thanks Jim and A.Ron.

    Easel-door
I like Rings of Power and I enjoy the commentary from this recap show. It’s a fun listen! HOWEVER. The mispronunciation of names of people and places is egregious, and very distracting. I’m no diehard Silmarillion/ appendices purist, but I’ve read the LOTR books a couple times and watched the movies many times. It’s very strange that these hosts pronounce so many names wrong (as in, differently than the actors do on the show), mostly by putting the emphasis on the wrong syllables. By far the most grating is “Easel-door” (Isildur, should be “is-EEL-dur”) but there’s also “Aaron-dir” (Arondir, should be “a-RON-dir”), “Ellen-deel” (Elendil, should be “el-EN-deel”), and many more. It’s almost to the point that I want to just find another recap pod for ROP, but I’m still holding out hope for the hosts to fix this in future pods. Maybe it’s just me, but I wish so much that they would just. say. the names. right. and then we could all listen to their entertaining commentary without distraction!

    This podcast is money.
This show is fantastic for anyone watching Rings of Power and wanting to hear good discussion and analysis.

    I appreciate their time…
…however, the way the hosts feel about Galadriel, is precisely the way I feel about the commentary. Like I stated, I appreciate their time, especially the content with the Lorehounds.

    Lame
This is low quality content. The first several episodes with the lore hounds were a good primer for the series but once we actually get into the breakdown and analysis of each episode the pod begins to devolve. The hosts, whose names I can’t remember, are broken records commenting over and over again on how great the show looks while stumbling through a disjointed recap and simultaneously lamenting the complexity of the lore while doing a poor job of explaining it. It would have been nice to get people who actually know the lore and are excited to talk about it. These guys are annoying and with each episode I care less and less about their opinions. I would classify this pod as a gripe-fest for people who are looking for things to complain about and don’t care enough about the lore to invest the time in understanding it.

Lore hounds are great, other hosts are Debbie downers
David and John of the lore hounds were great to kick this podcast off. When it transitioned to Aaron and jim(?) the show goes severely downhill. They’re incredibly negative and complain about literally every part of the show. I was so relieved when they brought back the lore hounds for the finale to hear an unbiased account. This show is honestly depressing

    Enjoyed their takes
TROP had its issues but the guys did a good job talking through the highs and the lows. I am very familiar with Tolkien and have read from Silmarillion through Unfinished Tales etc. The guys helped me enjoy and appreciate the show and were entertaining as well.

It’s time to upgrade the mics
Please invest in quality mics. Stop using the McDonald’s headset.

They seem afraid to admit how bad this show is
Normally Jim and Aaron have solid analysis of script, story, and acting - all of which are TERRIBLE in this offensively stupid show. I’m not sure why they avoid all the obvious plot holes, the boring/slow/repetitive pace, and the stone-faced acting. Are they afraid that criticizing this dumpster fire would be “toxic”? Guys, you lose credibility when you review something this bad and give it your approval.

Ignorant bros talking for an hour
Dear Lord of Darkness, I can now use my palantir like device to listen to a couple unread bros talking about Tolkien? When I could Easily overhear a more informed discussion at Macdonald at 1am? They can’t even pronounce let alone clearly recognize Valinor? Give me a break.

Too Critical / Not Knowledgeable Enough
Could barely make it through one episode of the podcast and almost turned it off when they stated they’re “not really fans of Lord of the Rings.” They proceeded to be over critical of the show (which is fine, the show deserves some criticism) while also displaying they know or care little about the lore of Middle Earth. I feel like they caught the wave of media critique against the show and thought they could ride along with it to podcasting fame and glory, but, when they openly admit they know nothing about the Tolkien universe, they end up falling very flat.

    Needs Some Development
Between the frequent whining and profanity, it is really hard for me to take this podcast seriously. They are representing themselves as people who will look for any reason not to like the show, which doesn’t make me respect their opinions very much. Hopefully they’ll improve for season two.

    Great show, love their convo
Jim and A.Ron also always make it interesting and I love when they have a pod for a show I’m watching. Bald Move is the best around for pop culture content. Worth the listen every week. Less cursing would be a bonus. I see a lot of negative reviews because they talk politics, I’m a catholic conservative, just tune that stuff out. Would prefer no politics and just entertainment but, honestly it’s not that bad. Jim and A.Ron do a better job than most of giving you a real opinion of a show and putting their politics aside better than most. You can trust if they say something is good and if something is bad it’s their real opinion, that is what I want. The rest of their content and chemistry is worth it, trust me. Don’t let silly politics turn you off.

    Snark is getting heavy
I’ve been listening faithfully but the latest few episodes are just repetitive with the snark and whining. There’s been some good info here but I’ve had enough with the hosts.
  • Bigred6824
All the wheels of podcast fell off.
16 straight minutes of whining. Fine to not like something. But that was ridiculous!
  • GonzAgave
    Prefer podcasts without profanity.
    Too much.
  • Domnorix
They’re good hosts but don’t know Tolkein
These guys are funny and know good storytelling but if you’re looking for Tolkein knowledge I’m not sure they’ve read any if the books.
  • EKH2019
    Love this podcast!
I started this podcast late, after having seen the first 5 episodes already, but love the Lore background which sets the scene of the second age. Good for a LOTR fan that read all the content, but maybe need a solid reminder.
  • Aashlleyymichelle
    Not Impressed
I’ve truly enjoyed their GOT podcasts, but this was a let down. Only one of them has read the Silmarillion and it’s obvious they’re just not as into Tolkien’s works as they should be in order to talk about such a dense subject. There’s more rambling than information provided.
  • Bad Wolf 09
    Why so negative
This is more fun to watch, stop comparing to HOD!!!
  • rae the nerd
    Great podcast!
Just started watching rings of power and this is one of my favorite podcasts of the show so far. Not too lore intensive and the hosts have good banter.
  • kim489
    Pretty decent
This is the next best RoP podcast I’ve found for when I want more content after listening to the Ringerverse recaps. These guys appreciate the show’s best moments in a relatable way. Cons: they often get some names wrong and 1 guy doesn’t know much about LotR at all.
  • FeatherinIt111
Not a good option if you’re a fan of the show and Tolkien
Jim and AAron are my GO TO for a lot of stuff, rocked with them throughout all of Thrones and will continue for HOTD, but this one is a no go for me anymore. I’m sure it’s great content if you are a casual viewer and are just listening for a laugh to pass the time but it’s abundantly clear that they are just simply not fans of the show and possibly just Tolkien in general, which is totally fair, not everything is for everyone, it’s just strange that they would do a podcast about it if that’s the case. In the GRRM review pods they are great and dig into everything with extreme detail and I love it, but the content here is just an overview of the episode with a lot of super harsh criticisms that often just contradict much of the things they applaud other shows and films for. Also I’m not doing this to dissuade viewers, think constructive criticism is good for this medium. If anyone reviews these hopefully they will consider tweaking. I tried to stick it out but find myself getting frustrated because I don’t think ANYONE wants to listen to a review podcast of a show they are a fan of that’s just constantly trashing it. It’s clear that aside from giving a shout out to how beautiful it looks they dislike every other aspect of the show.

Not nearly as good as their previous podcast
First of all, I really enjoyed Bald Moves GOT podcasts, and I was hoping for something similar. I'm really disappointed. The two of them do not know the source material and yet they ramble on and on with annoying viewpoints. For example, they complain that "fantasy books" (which they say don't like !?!) doesn't make logical sense. They use Frodo's stabbing by Shelob as an example because his Mithril shirt should have protected him. Hello! If they read or books or saw the movies, it's obvious that Frodo's Mithril shirt was taken away from him earlier (which the orcs fight over and later Gandalf grabs it back). Jim and ARon should either prepare better or just stop. Why do a podcast on the Rings of Power if you don't like fantasy and you don't respect Tolkien?

    Left wanting more…
This is a podcast about LOTR by people who know nothing to little about LOTR. The Lohrhound guys are awesome but the main hosts of this show just sit there and trash on things they know nothing about. Gimme more of the Lohrhound guys. Help me understand the plot more by breaking this show down within the writings from Tolkien. I don’t want to hear how it didn’t make sense to the hosts. Overall disappointing.

Not the best podcast for fans
You’ve read Silmarillion but don’t know where this takes place? And are comparing to house of dragon? AND IT’S APPENDICES
  • Flexibleofficeruler
Glad BM has the lore hounds
Since I have read the books it’s much easier to keep track of who and where so am really enjoying ROP. Personally, I’ve fallen off HotD but I still stream it with the TV off in support of my love for most of GOT. Like ROP I’ve read all the GOT books but the time jumps in HotD just pull me out of the moment.

    Another BaldMove Winner
I like the recaps and the balance between A.Ron’s knowledge base and Jim’s. They work well with the Lorehounds, crossing over into each other’s podcasts.

Fantastic pod once again, for the deep-lore fan and the less-obsessed alike. Great sound and editing, smart, insightful discussion of the characters, events, & themes of the episodes as well as the larger Tolkien universe. Respectful of the spoiler sensitive among us. If you’re a fan of tv and movies, you can’t go wrong with any of the Bald Move shows - TRoP is just ya first stop.

The perfect LOTR podcast for normal people
A perfect combo of a casual viewer and a normal Tolkien fan who enjoy the show but don’t take it all too seriously. Jim and ARon strike the perfect balance of TV criticism and Tolkien fandom. Perfect for people of all levels of Tolkien knowledge. Also, they are clearly friends and know how to have fun which is a rarity with these fantasy lore experts. Can’t recommend enough.

    Great Coverage!
My bois crushing it as always with their coverage of Rings of Power
  • LaGaviota
Podcast should be called “F-bombing Tolkien”
I listened to an episode from a couple months ago and I appreciated the detail. But why is it necessary to use a constant stream of curse words when reviewing the new TV show? That’s just laziness. Also, relating imagery to a myriad of video games is also just plain laziness, and, not at all entertaining or informative. I gave 2 stars because if the hosts would put some effort into creating educational content without the using the F word for every 3rd word, it might actually be a really good podcast.

Look no further - Best Podcast duo for TV
These two cannot be outdone. So smart, funny, everything you are looking for in a podcast covering tv. I’ve been listening for years and so glad they’re covering T.R.O.P. Also, listen to the Lorehounds podcasts that works with them for a deep dive on the background info.

    Terrible
A Lotr podcast that talks modern politics and doesnt know much about the source material. Im guessing this is exactly what Amazon wants. Hard pass
  • davidu406
Great pod for a LOTR beginner
The lore cast was great but a little too deep for a LOTR beginner. These guys go deep enough but not too much to lose me. Highly recommend if you want a supplement to the show to remind you of the moments you might have forgotten about.
  • Newly Touched
    Great pod
Relaxed takes. Not too serious. Just right.
  • Saint pablø
    Good podcast, frustrating moments
It’s an enjoyable podcast to listen to and I enjoy the opinions and takes of the hosts, however it is very frustrating when they don’t know the names of some of the main characters, locations, cities, and regions. It is after all, a lord of the rings podcast…
  • Emilyjoyphotos
    Don’t know the source material
I listened to the first half of the Adrift episode. One of the cohosts “doesn’t like Tolkien” and then listening to them stumble over how to pronounce names and general lack of accurate detail in recounting the show. I wouldn’t anticipate any brilliant post show breakdowns from these guys.
  • Mar2782
    One does not simply….
Make a podcast about the LOTR universe but not know how to pronounce Valinor or who Morgoth is. Come on people. Know the material. Then record the podcast.
  • Carolynmw2
    My Favorite
I’m so glad Jim and A.Ron are covering Rings of Power. I absolutely loved their Game of Thrones coverage so I’m so excited to have both new shows to follow now! Both of these guys are intelligent, funny, and have great takes. I highly recommend listening!

    More from the best
Another great podcast from the people who brought us the best of the Game of Thrones podcasts.
  • He who shall remain nameless
    Bald Move are the best
Best coverage around in my opinion
  • GSWfanboy
    Okay
Good content, but a bit too much unnecessary swearing

    ROP review 1-2
I was enjoying the review until you insulted people who voted for Trump. Please no politics. The right enjoys entertainment as much as the left.

    5/5 podcast!
Cannot wait for this show and know this will be the best companion podcast out there!

Great podcast but why bag on the Hobbit?
I really appreciated the reviews and analysis presented in this podcast and I learned a few things that I was not fully aware of that helps link the characters from the second age to the third age. That being said, with respect to the Peter Jackson films, I can’t understand why the need to treat the Hobbit films like it was The Phantom Menace. There were some pretty cringe worth moments in LOTR too, but everyone in the LOTR fan base loves these films. I feel like the Hobbit movie in many ways is being treated like the Hobbit book. I think most people don’t understand the purpose of the Hobbit was to tell the back story of the ring and introduce people into the LOTR in an easy to digest story. It seems every aficionado movement has its bane. Star Wars fans hate the prequels, oenophiles can’t stand Chardonnay or Merlot, and Hipsters hate Coachella. There seems to be a huge LOTR fan base that already hates the ROP series but so guess that is to be expected.
  • Hsjebtnsjj
    Knowledge but
Guy def knows his Tolkien but could not sound less interested. Short abrupt answers. Some wrong if you know anything at all about the history. Ok for newcomers. For people knowledgeable about Tolkien not as much
