    Relatable and engaging
I’ve listened to my fair share of climbing pods and this is by far my favorite. Ryan is a weekend warrior with a family and a 9-5 who loves climbing. This makes it way more fun for me, a fellow obsessed climber with a regular life, to listen to than a pod with only pros. Especially when he gets into the nitty gritty with coaches about training. In my opinion, it’s much more useful than only listening to how pros train and climb. I find his interview structure really engaging and fun. Stop reading this review and give ‘er a listen!

    Great show
Ryan is engaging and he strikes a balance between being personal and geeking out about climbing. Yes you’ll hear about hangboard protocols, but he’ll move on to a fun story before it gets dry as a kinesiology textbook. And yes you’ll hear about a guest’s childhood or the lack of diversity in the sport, but he’ll move on to their sick project before you feel like you’re listening to a therapy session. Going to far in either of these directions is the biggest failure of many of the climbing podcasts out there and Ryan beautifully threads the needle to make a fun, informative, entertaining, listenable show. Overall a great production, you can tell that Ryan is passionate about the details that differentiate great podcasts from the good ones.

    Great podcast and host!
Ryan is a solid guy that I’ve had the opportunity to climb with at the gorge, super supportive partner with infectious enthusiasm and positivity! His podcast is the most well produced podcast in the climbing industry. He asks thought provoking questions and seeks out interesting and inspiring guests. Worth the listen and subscription!

A nice differentiated podcast but a bit too commercial/sales oriented
This podcast is a good listen but is increasingly filled with commercial offerings, sales pitches and product/service endorsements. I get it, the podcast needs to make money, but it can be overdone to a point of losing credibility. Great format, mostly good guest and a likable host.

It should be called the climbing bro podcast. Go climb don’t listen to this junk. Enjoy nature and don’t post

    Great podcast
Thoughtful and engaging content, professionally edited and cut with fantastic guests. There are plenty of climbing podcasts out there but this one is truly excellent. Ryan is an excellent host and strong interviewer. This is one of the few podcasts in the space that delivers on both cool stories and useful tips.

No really! It is not a struggle listening to these engaging interviews. Each week I’ve been excited to see who Ryan’s next guest is and have always found a fascinating climbers story to listen to. I listen to several climbing podcasts and this ones at the top of my list.

I’m an avid listener of climbing podcasts and this pod is on par with the best of them. From the music to the questions this podcast checks all the boxes. None of the other podcasts get me as stoked to climb as much as this one does. Keep up the good work Mr. Devlin. I’m excited to see what’s next to come.

    Love it!
I just started climbing in my local gym in June of 2023. I am from Louisiana and there isn’t much to climb outside this far south besides your local climbing gym. Having had a background in sports training and performance training, I have been looking for a podcast that gets straight to business and asks the elite in climbing the major questions. I find super help and am glad I have found The Struggle Climbing Podcast. Thanks Phil B.
  • SolitudeSol
I can’t wait for the next episode!
I found the struggle when looking for podcast about climbing. Iv been hooked ever since and look forward to every new episode that comes out. The intro is my favorite part Iv recommended this podcast to a bunch of my friends and they also love it!
  • elsenderoduroNM
    Worst kind of podcast
This podcaster is trying to monetize content that is provided for FREE by experts in the the field climbing. He adds nothing to what these experts make available on their own websites, podcasts, and social media accounts. Why would anyone pay this podcaster to hear an interview of watered down content on this podcast with someone like Coach Horst or Tyler N. when you can get much more I depth and informative content from these guests own site? Pay the people that do the hard work to gain expertise, not the guy trying to monetize it.
  • Chef ejl
I’m hooked! What is my new favorite podcast!
I found out about The Struggle PodcastA couple of months ago and listen to everything that was available within a few hours. This show is absolutely awesome! I listen to a lot of Climbing podcasts and this one is up there in my top three. Easy to listen to and as a relatively new climber of three years I am learning a boatload. Ryan seems like a cool dude and I look forward to listening to a lot more episodes.
  • jonsime90
    Awesome failures
I’ll tell ya it’s not too often you get to hear an extensive insight on the pro’s shortcomings and struggles. The power of learning through failure is essential for growth! & this podcast is doing it right.
  • rebeccajoy1024
    Very Insightful

  • vtersigni
    A fast favorite
I really appreciate the deliberate format of this show! Ryan’s podcast is different from the other options out there, and the structured conversations are a great way to compare climbers’ approaches and experiences.
  • tom kat 321
    Insightful far beyond the obvious
This is a great podcast. Ryan interviews many climbers you have probably heard from before, but manages to make the interviews unique and truly insightful. Ryan is beyond prepared and asks questions focused more on motivations and purpose than just what hangboard protocol someone is using.
  • motrn mini
    Great podcast!!
I just started listening to this podcast and am really excited to follow along. I love being able to hear how world class athletes train and how they work through their own struggles. Ryan asks so many great questions that many of us wish we could ask our favorite athlete! Thanks so much for opening these windows of insight and experience to the every day climber. I’m hooked.

It’s very interesting to get so many different climber’s perspectives on nutrition, training, and the passion for climbing. Keep up the excellent work!
  • HayHayHayHaley
    I love the struggle
Not much to say here except glory — I love the theme of asking super rad inspiring climbers about their relationship with struggle. I love the questions, the guests so far, and the climbing puns 🙌 Do yourself a favor and queue all the episodes up! We could all use more conversations about struggle.
