FULL EPISODES OF SOUNDTRACKER CAN ONLY BE FOUND EXCLUSIVELY ON PATREON!

Lots and lots of movies have soundtracks. Some are classics. Some are bad. But the majority fall somewhere in between. This podcast is going to take a look at all of them (or, as many as I can). Every week I'll be covering a different movie that had an original motion picture soundtrack, and then digging into the album. One part film discussion, one part music discussion, the Soundtracker podcast is here to help you navigate the wide world of movies and music. In each episode, myself and a guest discuss the movie and its soundtrack, rate each one, give you our picks for the best songs on the soundtrack, and suggest additional recommendations for what to watch or listen to in relation to whatever we're covering. So join me, as I look back at an era that's largely a thing of the past, and maybe you'll find a new favorite film or song along the way. New episodes every Friday. Theme Song provided by Howell Dawdy of Howell Dawdy's Fast Track https://soundcloud.com/howelldawdysfasttrack. Edited by Ross Reilly (@4_5_and_7). Brings back great memories
I really enjoy this podcast-it takes hours to get through each episode because I always stop and listen to the music discussed:) so a live show!! If you do an intro before the movie or give out a list of the tracks and the scenes they appear in, the audience can prep for the soundtrack portion of your discussion. I would def be there…um, if you come to NY. thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and research from a fellow teacher-I have no idea where you find the time 💪🏼

    Support indie podcasting!
I love Soundtracker. I love Eric Peacock. His show is always a great time, well researched, and a clear labor of love. I don’t listen to every show, only because I have huge gaps in my movie and music knowledge, but any time I watch a movie that he’s covered it gets me to go back and check that episode out, and it always deepens my appreciation for the movie and the soundtrack. Support this show! It’s the kind of independent podcasting we need. - Julian Titus, host of The Stage Select

Great look at the intersection between film and music industries
It constantly astounds me that this show isn’t more popular. Eric does a great job of getting into a part of popular film that doesn’t get enough analysis, and the guest stars are always great for the movie being discussed. The highest praise that I can give is that Eric is able to get me interested in a movie I either didn’t see or didn’t like the first time I saw it, which is something not all movie podcasts can pull off.

    great show
I love this pod. It’s a great show and i never realized how much i wanted. show to discuss music and movies at the same time. They have great guests from all the good pods everyone should be listening to. I’m glad i wasn’t the only one who liked vanilla sky.

    Great movie show
If you love movies and music you’ll love this podcast. You get a nice long podcast that recaps a little bit of history by setting the time and place for the movie’s release, a recap of the movie itself with commentary from host and guest, and then a recap and discussion of the soundtrack (with a bit of music history about the top music of the time). Very detailed and entertaining. Really love to hear the movies I haven’t seen. Most movie lover podcasts are about reviewing movies and I find it’s actually more enjoyable to just talk about the movie and not completely focus on the judgement of the movie. They still judge, because that’s naturally as a movie viewer, but it’s not their main focus. I find I enjoy this more enjoyable than review pods.

Very well researched with entertaining discussions!
I really enjoy listening to the host and guest talking about the history behind the soundtrack and movie, their own personal experiences with them, and if either the movie and soundtrack are worth going out of your way to seek out if you’ve never seen the movie or listened to the soundtrack. The majority of soundtracks that have been covered thus far are fascinating to me in that they’re such a product of the time they were released in, and how much of a bygone era it is for films during the 80’s, 90’s, and even into the 00’s, to also sell you on an entire album’s worth of music inspired by the film as well. Also, shout out to Jeff May for showing up twice so far on the podcast, I really enjoy him on the “You Don’t Even Like Podcasts Network” (formerly the Unpops Network), and he’s just as fun to listen to here as he is on other podcasts he shows up on. I look forward to the Goofy Movie soundtrack being covered on this show fairly soon as I’m currently listening to the episode for the Lion King soundtrack that just dropped yesterday. Hope this show continues for as long as possible!

    One of the greats.
One of the greatest concepts for a podcast executed to perfection.

Finally hit my nerdy sweet spot! Soundtracks!
This is literally my favorite podcast right now for just nostalgia and entertainment. The thorough breakdown of the films are excellent and then to follow it all up with such eclectic mashups up artists… soundtracks from the 90s are responsible for so much of my tastes… so many bangers on here… I have almost listened to every episode now and thank you Eric for being the brave soul to take this on. We were so lucky to experience this era of music in our formative years. Best podcast I’ve found since ‘Chris DeMakes A Podcast’ 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

    Such a great show!

    Pure contagious enthusiasm!
This is one of my top ten “fun” podcasts. Soundtrack albums are a lost art remembered fondly here. The guests Eric brings on are great foils for him and match him gibe for gibe on the good, bad, and truly awful. The backbone of the show is Eric’s bottomless well of enthusiasm for his obsession. A true gem!

    The podcast struts!
Easily my #1 weekly listen- Eric and a guest walk you through a movie and it’s soundtrack every week using food, folks and fun. Definitely recommend the Patreon where you can have it your way. Del Taco. - Jackie Daytona

A great way to revisit some great films. Well hosted and moves along at a good pace.

Love the revisit of these classics from a great perspective from the soundtrack!
  • jblatron
    Well researched and always enthusiastic
Mr. Peacock does his homework on all the episodes and is a generous host with his guests. Plenty of laughs, but also genuine enthusiasm ever when the movies aren’t that good. I really appreciate the time and joy that obviously goes into each episode. Recommend.

    Great Podcast!
This is a real nostalgia trip to a time when OST songs by major bands were the norm. Sometimes a movies soundtrack album was more successful than the movie. Especially check out the episode with members of the WHM gang.

    Long live Soundtracker!
This podcast rules. I love the deep dive on movies and their soundtracks. I miss movie soundtracks! A lot of them were very formative for me when I was growing up, and it's great to listen to this podcast and learn that I wasn't alone in that.

… especially if you’re a grown-up 90s teen like I am! Great way to revisit some favorite movies and the reason why the “soundtrack” section of my CD notebook was so thick!

    Great idea
Eric is super funny and I thoroughly enjoy his perspective on the podcast. The guests can be hit or miss though and I’d rather have more casual movie fans than unironic versions of Gregg Turkington from On Cinema. The best episodes imo are with guests who just want to have fun with the format and there are plenty of them!

    Women Like Movies Too
I love this show but there is an EXTREME need for more women represented on the show. Too many long long long conversations between two men and only men makes hour after hour feel like I am eavesdropping on a overnight D&D meeting in someone’s basement. I truly appreciate the hard work and original concept of the show but there does not appear to be a way to reel a guest in when they go off in tangents that last for nearly an hour. It goes from charming to chummy and I just can’t listen to hours of men talking about Dumb and Dumber or Freddy Got Fingered. You lost me man. I’m way too adult to over-intellectualize the soundtrack of those films. This could have been so beautiful. There are SO MANY GOOD SOUNDTRACKS! I really want you to succeed but I have standards and these past few film selections have disappointed me. I wish you the best.

    Highly entertaining!
Eric has so much enthusiasm for the movies and soundtracks. Each episode is well-rounded and well-researched. Love learning new things about nostalgic movies and songs.

    Spectacular
One of the best and most engaging podcasts with an incredible premise! Essential listening!
  • CollP0rt
Quintessential listening for movie nerds who grew up (or were just around) in the soundtrack era.
A killer idea for a podcast executed with just the right amount of charm mixed with looseness to make it feel like you’re hanging with friends and talking movies. Always a good listen. Has also helped fill in some gaps for me as episodes pop up on things I never got around to seeing at the time but we’re definitely right up my alley.

Trivia, History, Banter — and a little bit of nostalgia!
An awesome little hang-out podcast where a different guest (or guests) stops by each week to talk about a movie and its soundtrack. The host, Eric, provides details on how the movies got made in the first place, how they performed financially relative to others, and all kinds of other context that brings you back to the moment when you saw this stuff in the theatre. From genuine classics like Deep Cover to more cheesy stuff like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Road House, the show really covers a lot of different genres and with the prep Eric does and his skill at finding good and easygoing guests, there’s not only something for everybody, but always a reason to listen even if you don’t have much love for a particular movie or don’t remember it at all. Fingers crossed that some day we get an Above The Rim episode…I had it on CD not cassette so it was harder to do, but still I wore that soundtrack *out*…

    Excellent!!
Being a teenager in the 90's, movie soundtracks played a big part in introducing me to some of my favorite musicians. This show is a great trip down memory lane and I highly recommend it.

Fun, insightful and did I say fun?
I started with the Royal Tenenbaums episode and have been grinding through the catalog since. Highly recommend!

A simple concept that is so great
Music and movies so often overlap in terms of the impact on pop culture. This was heightened higher than normal in the 80’s and 90’s with soundtracks that were no longer an afterthought when tapping into youth culture to gain an audience for the movie. This podcast takes a look at this intersection of time & culture as Gen X began becoming a force at the box office, then follows it towards the waining days of physical media for listening to music. It’s a smart show that shows the host comes prepared, is knowledgeable on multiple relevant topics. This is all done and covered in a positive way, meaning the point of the show is to nerd out on multiple interests and not intended to be some film snob bashing. It’s not all love, but it’s also not mean.

THE SOUDTRACKER’S GONNA TRACK YOU DOWN
Come for the theme song, stay for the deep dives on the film soundtracks that have shaped the genre. Eric is a fantastic host who really does his research and had brought in amazing guests to talk through these moments in film and music history. Highly recommended.

One of the best music pods in the game
Tremendous first effort by the host, Mr Peacock. Look forward to listening to this on my commutes every week.

Great show that seperates itself from the crowd
Having a focus on the music gives Soundtracker a unique perspective as they work their way through some of the best in the game. Deep Cover episode is a great starting point.

    90s Nostalgia and Beyond
Part film review and part music review. I always learn something fascinating on these episodes. Along with great guests that will make you lol. What’s not to like.

Why are you not obsessed yet?
Don’t you understand that this isn’t a group of bearded hipsters talking about Marvel movies? This is a brilliantly-developed and slickly-produced podcast about a topic we don’t talk nearly enough about: movie soundtracks with original songs. It would be folly not to be addicted to this, you fool.

    Such a great concept
I’ve followed Eric on twitter for years now and have always thought highly of him. When he announced the premise of this podcast, I was equally happy for him and for the world who will be receiving it. He has good taste in music and does a fantastic job of breaking down the movies and their musical counterparts. This is a time machine for me that digs up my earlier years and reminds me of when I was just opening my eyes and ears to the world of music. I am looking forward to many more episodes - this show is awesome.

A unique look at a niche subject
This is such a great idea for a podcast that I can’t believe it’s not been tried before. The good news is Eric is just the person for the job. He’s equal parts funny and insightful and each guest brings their own individual viewpoint to the topic.

    Soundtracker is delightful
Really enjoying this podcast, made me break out my copies of Lost Highway and Batman Forever. Cant really give higher praise than this podcast made me dig up my old case logic binder.
