Reclaiming Parenthood with Taylor Kulik

135
Parenting #165

Join me, Taylor Kulik, an occupational therapist and sleep & well-being specialist, as we examine the mainstream narratives that dominate our culture. It's common to enter parenthood without really stopping to reflect on why we are doing the things we are doing. This is a space where we will challenge societal parenting and childhood norms and discuss biological infant sleep without sleep training. We'll also share real journeys of parents who have gone against the grain by practicing responsive and respectful parenting, and by following their intuition.

    The instincts of motherhood confirmed
Absolutely loving this podcast! So amazing to hear so many of our natural instincts as moms confirmed and encouraged!

    New fav parenting podcast!
I’m so grateful for this podcast and Taylor’s work- it’s given me the confidence to parent in alignment with my family’s values instead of what everyone else is doing. Thank you so much!
  • ~Danielle~
    5 Stars!
It’s so important to not live in an echo chamber and to listen to different parenting perspectives, to challenge your own beliefs, and figure out what is best for your family. Taylor provides a space for that.

    Amazing
The conversation with Teva Johnstone was sooooo necessary. It really opened my eyes to what is happening in our society to our children. Taylor has tough conversations with factual but compassionate points of view. So informative and incredible!

    Fascinating!!!
Thank you for having Dianne on your podcast! Everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive! So simple…technology driven learning for the 🧠 brain. We use technology for everything else, often with a negative impact , why not use it to help improve your brain health and ultimately your life??!!!

Puts my mind and heart at peace!
I wish I wouldn’t have found this podcast and Taylor on Instagram when I was pregnant with my first child. I had so much anxiety when it came to raising my baby, her sleep, parenting against the norm and not falling into “normal” practices that couple potentially hurt her or our relationship. Please share with new moms!

    Every Episode Blows My Mind!
So extremely grateful for this podcast — Taylor is a wealth of information and challenges us to think outside of mainstream parenting ideas.

    The Taylor Show
The guests are often great, but it’d be interesting if someone did a breakdown of how much time Taylor spends each episode talking about herself versus letting her guests talk. If you want to feel judged by someone who masks her contempt for Moms parenting differently from her in a dripping saccharine voice, this is the podcast for you.

    Such a Valuable Listen
I’ve loved every episode I’ve listened to. Each one was super informative and gave me lots to think about! It’s literally changed my life as a parent and even as a person in general! Thanks Taylor!

Sleep training episode is on point!
I absolutely loved the recent episode on sleep training and the impacts on the nervous system! We need more professionals like these talking about what’s really happening with this popular parenting trend. As a mental health therapist who works with children every day, I wish parents had this information to make more informed decisions about how they interact with their children and the long term effects it has on their health and wellbeing. Thank you for bringing in such a knowledgeable professional to bring light to this issue!

    Love this podcast!
As a fellow Orthodox Christian and "crunchy" mom I LOVED the most recent episode on parenting.(and cant wait to listen to the others!) We have a 4 year old and another on the way and I am looking forward to reading the parenting towards the kingdom book as well! Its so helpful to learn more about the developmental stages of kids and have the science displayed to back up my previous instinctual parenting choices.

    So important
Taylor has challenged my thinking on a few things, but I think it’s so important to hear her perspective. I love the guests she has on as well!!

Last episode of this season… felt like listening to two Karens upset over something not going their way. Sure, acknowledge these topics are triggering but let’s ignore the inequities and inequalities of food systems that place a huge burden on vulnerable populations. This convo was just not productive, like “let me tell you…” can’t imagine what the rest of the episodes are like.

    Thank you Taylor Kulik!
I love Taylor’s no-nonsense, critical thinking approach to motherhood and postpartum. She helps me feel empowered to advocate for myself and my child as we stride into respectful and responsive parenting.

Valuable information that google can’t deliver
Taylors Instagram was recommended to me by a friend after I had a lot of resistance to sleep training. The information she presents in her podcasts and on Instagram is valuable and lowers the anxiety that I feel about raising a child respectively. It is a safe place to go. I have also found like minded caregivers on her page that I connected with and often time find comfort discussing our views on holistic sleep training.

    Love Taylor!
I have been following Taylor on Instagram for quite a while. I recently found her podcast and I am obsessed! She keeps it real and provides the facts that parents NEED to hear! I love that this podcast feels very professional. It’s not just her opinions. This is researched based! She does her homework before sharing information. This is so important. Thanks for the amazing podcast!

    The best❤️
Taylor is so relative and practical. She lives a life that questions the main narrative and brings it back to our biological norms. I love her podcast and following her on Instagram. Initially, I followed her for reassurance that rocking/nursing my baby to sleep and cosleeping was okay. But she quickly became my fav account for many other reasons. She has helped me slowly make other changes in my life and pushed me to do my own research. While also not overwhelming me with all the big changes. She's made non tox livelihood (eating, cleaning, etc.), gentle parenting and much more seem attainable for a normal mom who is slowly evolving herself. And does it in such a respectful way. Couldn't recommend her enough!

    Must listen for new parents!
This podcast is so validating!! I recently started bedsharing with my 6 month old because his sleep took a nosedive and I couldn’t function. It’s been a lifesaver for me but I’ve been feeling shame. This podcast has given me a lot of good information and made me feel validated and not alone! Thank you!
  • isabelnickname
Thought provoking, supportive and my favorite podcast
I’m so thankful to have found this podcast. Taylor always discusses thought-provoking topics with respect to both sides. This podcast has been such a light for me as a FTM ashamed of some of my “mom instincts”. This podcast has helped to give me confidence in how I’m choosing to mother my child. Thank you Taylor, I appreciate your hard work
  • linds15875
    I’d give 6 stars if I could.
Before I stumbled across Taylor’s IG, I was struggling with anxiety surrounding the sleep of my 4 month old. Feeling pressured to sleep train just went against every instinctual bone in my body. Her page gave me the knowledge and confidence to bed share safely. 10/10 would recommend
  • Tay3689
    Wonderful podcast
I really appreciate Taylor and the way she empowers mothers to stick to choices they feel are best for their babies regardless of outside pressures. She’s a lovely gal and I owe a lot of my mom confidence to her.

Sorry can’t support you or this podcast anymore.
Really disappointed with the turn this podcast and her Instagram page has taken. She’s masks (no pun intended) her antivax beliefs in posts/podcasts and calls it “medical freedom” for which she has no willingness to have a balanced conversation about. It’s as if this isn’t something that as a civilization we have relied on to survive & thrive (requiring childhood vaccines for school for example). I just can’t financially support someone the perpetuates this narrative anymore (and this is coming from someone that has paid for her sleep course).

    Usable Information For Mom’s
As a seasoned mom who’s raising teenagers and toddlers, I have really enjoyed the information shared here. It’s easily digestible while buzzing around the house or nursing my wiggly baby. Great guests that don’t overcomplicate motherhood, but instead illuminate the path forward for us.

Excellent information! Highly recommend spending your time listening to this.

    Taylor is knowledgeable and passionate!
Taylor is knowledgeable and passionate about infant sleep and gentle parenting. This podcast is one I look forward to every week and Taylor my go to resource for all things sleep and gentle parenting. A must listen for parents who do not want to subscribe to our cultures “normal” and outdated parenting practices.
  • rtgphoebe
    A must listen!
Thank you Taylor, for sharing these important conversations for parents of young children. If you haven’t already, give Taylor a follow on Instagram too!
  • chelskuk
    Mind blown, less stressed already
This podcast was exactly what I needed to hear in the midst of struggling with my infants sleep. “Sleep training” hasn’t felt right or worked for my baby and this is the perfect education around other options with sleep.
  • Leslie_ann22
So great & looking forward to more!
Loved the first episode! Taylor’s story of her firstborn’s sleep is soooo similar to my son. There are so few voices out there about safe bedsharing, and it was such a relief to find Taylor’s on Instagram when I needed it. I’m excited to hear what she has in store for future podcast episodes.
  • Nicki_F
    Important work
I’ve followed Taylor’s Instagram page for years, which encourages parents to follow their natural instincts. She’s not here for herself - she’s here for her children, my children, your children, and their children too.
  • PaigeAE
    Thank you!
I am really looking forward to listening to future episodes. It is so nice to hear of others sleep journey’s with their babies. Our sweet baby is 6 months old and Taylor’s story of sleep the first 6 months of her daughter’s life is SO relatable. Why is it everyone’s first question?
  • [shut.up.and.swim]
    Taylor is the real deal
So excited about this podcast. Taylor is among the best of the best in this space.
  • SariFL88
    Must listen
The first episode was so relatable, real, transparent, and exactly what first time parents need to hear. Thank you Taylor for all you do!

    Unfiltered Truth
Unapologetic truth: providing parents with resources pertaining to sleep and wellness, without shamming, so they can make the right decisions for their family unit - even if that means going against the grain of norms in western society. Not only a great podcast, but a valuable resource.
  • LStippy
    Been waiting for this!
Can’t wait for Taylor to start sharing more episodes! I know this will be full of great info in a relatable and non judgmental space! So excited!
  • ElenaRoseH
    Great resource
A great resource for any news moms —or seasoned. Taylor’s approach to sleep and parenting is what we need to see more of in our society.
  • Maryboberrie
    So excited for more!
I’ve followed Taylor on Instagram for a little under a year now, and I LOVE her and her mission and her content! I’ve been hoping she’d do a podcast so I could listen and learn and spend less time on my phone. Taylor is REAL and so much of what she shares rings true for my family and makes me feel validated for my “against the grain” parenting decisions. Give her a listen!
  • hadassahmohr
    The best.
I love this podcast. I highly recommend it to new parents. Taylor encourages parents to listen to their intuition. It’s easy to feel alone as a new mom but listening to this makes me feel like I’m not alone in my parenting decisions.
  • Sbell852
The content all us moms need!
I have never looked forward to a podcast so much! The sleep and parenting education she provides through her Instagram has made me a more confident mom and taught me so much about what to expect (and not expect) out of our little babies when it comes to sleep! Already feel so seen with the first episode!
