I recently started watching Dark and discovered this podcast. The host is great and the conversation around each episode is informative and entertaining. Very helpful in understanding this convoluted show.

Trying to enjoy S1 E2. The decibel level for the one voice feels 2x the reasonable male voice. Suggestion try to level these.

Found this show when I became obsessed with Dark and needed a pod that went episode by episode to help me talk through the knot. Glad I had them with me for all the episodes, my favorite episode had the German teacher and the discussion of the word kein.

Season one and two episodes Get five stars but I am 15 minutes into episode one for season three and I don’t think I can make it through. You need to give your wife a lesson on how to do a podcast. Her cackling into the microphone every three minutes is making this insufferable and I am about to turn it off

I enjoy this podcast for what it is...I like listening after watching an episode to make sure I didn’t miss anything. This show is complicated! My only complaint is the audio. Some of these episodes are downright unlistenable (S2, E8 may be the worst). Host should figure out a way to get the sound quality of the co-host up a bit. Otherwise, great pod!

Came back today since the dark run ended and I am pleased you're doing equinox!

Female voice is simply irritating, loud and pinching my ears. Seriously, consider switching her with someone else. Only podcast my ears still hurt after listening to it. Also, please be more respectful to the creators of Dark and treat it with intellectual respect. This is not Stranger Things.

10/8/20 update - it’s 3+ months since season 3 dropped, and I am still very into and appreciative of this podcast. This is my favorite tv show, and I love that I have ways to savor it with others who love it. Please keep up the good work, and finish the series! Hello and best wishes to all on your team, especially Alisa, who we haven’t heard from in a while. ——- These folks have fun and entertaining takes, and care about this great show without needing to pretend that it’s sacred scripture. I like and appreciate the views of all the contributors so far. I especially appreciate the way they manage to laugh off criticism that doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. Well done, and keep going!

I’m really enjoying listening to the host and his wife and assorted friends discuss Dark. They are doing a good job. My only negative is the audio. It’s very hard to hear if I’m playing it over background noise (partially my fault for not wearing headphones). But I enjoy the host and co-hosts banter and reactions to the story. This is my favorite of the Dark podcasts, but there are so few options. To the other reviewers complaining about this podcast, please make the highly intellectual Dark podcast you are looking for. We will all listen to it. And leave Wake Up Winden alone. They are doing what they set out to do.

This doesn’t pretend to be a deeply intellectual podcast, which is fine. Yes you could get much more depth out of the discussion but that’s just not where it is coming from. Bryan sounds like he might like to take it there if he had willing cohosts. Please get each person their own mic so the cohost doesn’t have to constantly SHOUT ALL COMMENTARY. No joke, this hurts my ears. Not a matter of pitch except that the level is so loud that it then becomes a problem. Fix that, and you’ll fix a lot. The depth of discussion could be vastly improved by better cohosts - the pair in the first episode were pretty good in bringing in art to the discussion - but this is a recap podcast, not an analysis podcast. It could be a pretty good pod if PEOPLE STOPPED SHOUTING.

Watching Dark is like being on a journey, and that journey is best understood when you’ve got people to help walk you through it. Wake Up Winden is just that- the host and his guests are thoughtful and don’t take themselves too seriously. Great pod!

Bryan, you talked about the criticism you are receiving and I wanted to say that I have tried a few different Dark podcasts and yours is the best I have found!! Keep up the good work. I am watching the show one episode a night (season 3) and each morning I look forward to listening to your recap/break down of the show!!! I just finished your recap of “the origin” and greatly enjoyed the dynamic of you and your co-host (sorry, can not remember his name 🙁 but shout out to the German instructor). I really think the two of you should keep it going if possible! His knowledge of the German language and culture brings a whole new insight ie no name vs possible Cain....😳. Anyway keep it up and don’t let the negativity get you down....keep doing you!!!!!!

This podcast’s shallowness is an insult to the masterpiece that is “Dark”. Tell me the female voice is a parody, please! It encapsulates the whole of all obnoxiousness, concentrates it, then it tortures us until we would pierce our eardrums with wooden skewers if forced to bear more than five minutes if of its giggle-screech cacophony of horrid nasal noise I cannot recall having ever heard deeply intellectual material treated with such irreverence nor the level of audacity this podcast exudes by feeling free to critique something of this depth absent even the most basic understanding of the classical thought and thinkers to which it alludes. I suspect that anyone astounded a garrote exists and has no word for such a weird wore thingie has no point of reference to theorize regarding the whole labyrinth motif means or the reference to Theseus, the ball of thread and Ariadne. Instead we get “OMG” it is the UPSIDE DOWN. THEY TOTALLY COPIED! This podcast made me ashamed to be American.

After anxiously awaiting season 3 of Dark, this was just the podcast I was needing to process the episode and unpack all of the themes in Season 3, Episode 1! The hosts insights gave me so much to think about! I am also grateful they touched on the disappointment of the show’s use of disabilities in this season as props instead of casting a representative and diverse cast. Couldn’t agree more! Great podcast, entertaining hosts! Can’t wait to process the rest of this season with them!

Why is the female host yelling all her sentences. Also sorry the disabilities were not up to your standards. Very offensive takes. Prejudice and borderline racist. Shame in today's climate people still spew hate.

Good summary, good mixture of jokes and plot discussion. Spoiler sections are fun.
