I have been listening to this podcast for a while now and have found myself really looking forward to Mondays. It is a big cast of characters that rotate weekly to put out the episodes and it has taken me a while to become familiar with each of them. My new favorite is Dana as I find myself cracking up each time she is on. All of the hosts are informative, knowledgeable, well spoken, truly exude a love for board games, and just seem like good people. There is something really cool about living in Idaho and having the same experiences and feelings about board games as people clear around the other side of the world in Australia. Great podcast, guys!

This show is awesome. I discovered the BBQ a few months ago when I was searching for any podcast episodes in which they were discussing a specific game, Alma Mater. I came for content on one specific game, but I stayed to enjoy the whole episode. So many interesting games covered. Then I listened to another episode. And another. Before long, I understood the format (start with a sizzle, then the question of the pod, then swearing an oath). All with lots of brilliant banter in between. The bbq crew seem like a fun lot. I think I heard someone mention that reviews are read aloud on the podcast once, and the call to the community was to write a rap as to thoroughly embarrass whichever pour soul has to read it aloud. Well, I’m not much of a rapper, but here’s a poem (in Portuguese): O churrasco do jogo de tabuleiro, É um lugar para os nerds, Todos nós temos uma prateleira de vergonha, Então nós grelhamos com nossas palavras. Anyway, it’s a great show. I’ve gone all the way back to the beginning and started listening to the original episodes from 2020. It’s been so cool to listen to the evolution of the pod and enjoy the development of chemistry between hosts. They also feature some fantastic guests, including Vital Lacerda, Ian O’Toole, Tom Vasel, and many others. Cheers, folks. Keep up the brilliant content.

Your podcast is very entertaining. I love the variety of perspectives. Gonna miss Sarah, though! We definitely need more women in the hobby.

This podcast excels despite having a few hurdles to jump over. For one thing, they have nine different hosts. Most shows would break under the weight, but they mix things up by having 3ish hosts each episode that rotate, and I LOVE that format! I also like the informal style and the chemistry and friendship between the hosts. Really easy listening. Keep up the great work!

It was over a year ago that I heard about this motley group of gamers down in Australia. Little did I predict that I would be glued to their show every day since then! Great content including classic games, new hotness, kickstarters, kids games,solo, and euro games. They cover it all. And they do so by talking you throw their follies and victories with unbridled enthusiasm. And it wouldn’t be so addictive if they didn’t clearly love what they do! Ample helpings of laughter, side dishes of inside jokes, and even some oaths thrown in for dessert at the end of each show await you. So pull up a chair, wherever you are in the world, relax, and enjoy the BBQ.

Their tag line is so apropos. Their enthusiasm for games other gaming professionals are not enthused by is infectious. Of course their Aussie accents are fun to listen to. PLUS they have interviewed big name board game designers like Vital Lacerda and Matt Leacock. This is a gem of a podcast that board game fans need to add to their subscription feed.

I follow many YouTube board game vloggers and reviewers, but have struggled to find a podcast that translates well without visualizing the board games themselves. Board Game BBQ manages to overcome this hurdle really well. The hosts met through the online community, which I think helps the listener because they don’t have a level of assumed knowledge between them about what they’re talking about. The conversations are engaging, fun, and they cover a great range of games from the heavy, top of BGG to silly games their family enjoys.
