Thank you Neil for the incredible, easy, poetic way you have to describe everything. I love the way you give a though to every single, ordinary, day to day event, and relate that to the past of our humanity and present moments.

I used to love this show but recently host seems to have gone down the antivax, “you can’t tell me what to do” rabbit hole. Unfortunate.

Yes I admit I am a history buff and I love this podcast that I recently discovered however “normal” people will enjoy this I am sure because of the information and the excellence of the writing narration and production

I recently found this podcast and am binge listening now. Each episode is throughly researched. I learn something new each time I listen to an episode including topics that I think I know well. The presenters voice is easy on the ear and his enthusiasm contagious!

I am in love! With the history, the voice & the way he shares the story! I’m American but my ancestors were Scottish (early & mid 19th century) therefore I feel I can relive their struggles thru these stories.This is such a welcome relief from non-stop dishonest Media stories.

I love anything that’s has to do with Neil ever since I watch the history of Scotland documentary he hosted so I knew I had to listen and I was not disappointed it’s been a joy listening to this podcast I’m always excited for next episode keep up the good work

As good as this podcast is (and it’s excellent) it would make a GREAT television series where the audience could actually see the places as Neil talks about them!

This is a wonderful podcast with a fantastic presenter. Neil starts at the beginning before Britain was Britain and elegantly tells you the story of how it came to be! I love history and my passion started with American civil war history. A friend of mine got me excited about ancient Europe and now it’s an absolute passion that Neil’s podcast compliments perfectly. Through his voice I get to hear about things I have never seen yet (and one day REALLY hope I can!) and when he describes the landscape, the place or the object I can picture it. I now have a small collection about books about ancient Britain, Anglo-Saxons and Roman pottery and I adore them all. Thank you for doing this! I look forward to new episodes and it brings some light into my life. This is such an uplifting and passionate podcast and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Love this. Feel like i die and go to Heaven or Valhallia with each episode. No one can spin a yarn like Neil. His voice is soothing and wraps around you like a warm blanket. I learn so much and feel like i am there.

This podcast is truly a love letter as it says in the title. Neil speaks with such awe and respect of all of these locations. Thanks to his melodic tones (he has a voice made for podcasts) you feel you are there, even if you’ve never heard of the place before. If you’re familiar with the site, you are transported back to what it was like to stand in the site, the be surrounded by the history...the sounds, the views. It’s comforting that for a person who has spent his life talking about history/places, he can still sound amazed by what occurred there. Stuck in our homes, this podcast has me desperate to return to the British Isles.

Archeology gets little media coverage - Neil Oliver is an excellent presenter. I enjoyed his TV history and archeology programs (eye-opening series on the British Isles). The lack of visuals is no handicap...his soft Scottish accent is perfect vehicle for quite complex themes. He manages to weave speculation into human motivation and our shared humanity without undermining the material or being mawkiskly irritating, as is the way with the gratingly woke BBC nowadays. The Beeb should have commissioned this as a series...I hope Neil does well on his own!

A lush and absorbing telling of Neolithic Britain and how profoundly it relates to us in our modern world. Looking forward to more episodes!
