    Absolutely the Best!!!
If you are a DIY musician or producer who wants to learn more about recording and mixing, this is absolutely the best podcast you could possibly listen to. As a result of this podcast, I signed up for the coaching program and it has been extremely helpful in advancing my knowledge of recording and mixing as an at-home creator of music. I still listen to back episodes because I didn’t find this podcast until last summer. Even though I am in the coaching program, I find these podcasts extremely valuable in supporting my learning. The great thing is that I can listen to them in the car or when I’m out for a walk. I love the casual format and the interchange between Malcolm and Benedikt. Both are extremely knowledgeable, and the way they bounce ideas off each other is a highlight of the show for me. Other podcasts on the topic of home recording do an okay job of covering lots of basic skills and even digging into some nuanced concepts, but none of them are close to touching the level of ideas that this podcast covers while still remaining accessible. In addition, The Self-Recording Band Facebook community and the ability to communicate directly with Benedikt and Malcolm, are big pluses as well.

    Invaluable
This podcast is great! I’ve been playing and singing for more than 24 years and, broke as we dreamers are, have recently decided to take recording into my own hands. Over that time I’ve picked up a lot of obvious recording knowledge but this podcast is great at helping me fill in the gaps, the sticking points, those stupid little things that stop all momentum because you just don’t have a particular piece of critical information. For beginners there is a ton of great resources and foundational information and for those of us who have been in the mix for a bit, it provides that extra understanding that gets it to the next level. In addition to tips and tricks they explain the foundational, comprehensive rationale behind everything they discuss. Having each episode organized around specific topics really helps you find exactly what you’re looking for. It’s also well paced and easy to understand. Thank you both for this wonderful resource

    Incredibly helpful.
This podcast has been the most helpful tool in my music recording journey. Thank you Benedikt and Malcolm for dedicating your time to put together this collection of podcasts. This has really given me a roadmap and filled in a ton of holes in what little I knew about recording when I began listening to this show. Iv listened to every searchable podcast there is on Apple or Spotify and I would say this is the most enlightening, informative, well organized podcast Iv found. Especially if your a beginner (like me) and need the basics explained. The later episodes expand on earlier topics and get more conceptual. There I did it! Here’s your review! Thanks again guys.

If you record music, LISTEN TO THIS FUN PODCAST!!!
Of course this podcast is super informative! Just check out episode 47 about guitar setups. I learned so much from it and it’s really helped my setups and consequently made it more fun for me to play guitar! But the other thing that maybe is not so obvious is that these two are really nice and fun people. As you listen, you get little nuggets of funny anecdotes like Malcolm making drum sounds with his voice, Benedikt learning what eggnog is, how Floyd roses belong in the trash, and many other funny moments! I find myself literally laughing out loud a lot and this podcast is in my weekly rotation because of it!

Why am I just now discovering this?!
Finally, a podcast for those of us who record at home. In my case, rock n roll. I just listened to the episode about recording guitars. It was heaven. Kind of like sitting at a local pub discussing tone and recording techniques with the only two people you knew that would appreciate the topic. Keep it going, guys. Great podcast.
