I run phatDBO’s stoke…Stokes the fire of trail running.
-
RaektmEasy listeningGreat show, content! 5 star review. My only feedback is for D-BO to allow guests to fully explain and reduce his interruptions to the guests.
-

Derkson91MediocreA couple of years ago I left a mediocre review of the Freetrail podcast but I wanted to update my review here a couple of years later as I continued to listen in. Over the last couple of years Dylan has without question built and established the absolute best trail running podcast in the industry. This is now the gold standard. Interviews with guests are so on point, and two-way conversational. Which has been an excellent listen each week. And coverage of the sport at large and on a broad scale is even better. Kudos to Dylan and his team. I hope he is in this game for the long haul. This pod is single handedly helping grow our sport in such a positive and inclusive way. I often tune into other content mediums around the sport of Trail Running and I often hear the Freetrail pod referenced for good reason. If you are a trail athlete, this is a must listen pod.

justaguitarguyEnjoyable!Dylan does a great interview/conversation with his guests. It’s refreshing to hear a podcast where the host does ramble on endlessly about himself and his own agenda. Really enjoyable and informative.

J. KoornInterview with Amelia Boone is SO good!I drove 5 miles under the speed limit and took every back road I could find to get through the episode before I got to work. So many gems!

talking lead is the sh**Second nature Ep 1 - thumbs up!Great first episode! Loved it!
-
2phaedraSports are people tooDylan has a knack for casual, fluid, gab that draws the story out of his guests and brings attention to the person behind the athlete. His genuine enthusiasm, depth of knowledge, and natural skills as an interviewer make it a listen I keep coming back to. Highly recommend!

Midpacker podGreat showThe FreeTrail Pod is one of the best not only trail running based shows, but one of my favorite podcasts in any subject matter. Dylan is clearly such an impressive athlete (and person), this show is an information farm for me that I learn something from every time I tap in. I walk away inspired. I’ve been listening for a couple of years now, but continue to appreciate this show and the perspectives more and more with time. It inspired me to jump into FreeTrailPro, which is an amazing group of people and well worth it for anyone who loves this sport or the people that participate within. My knowledge base grew overnight and it’s supporting people that are doing awesome stuff! As I get more involved with this sport and community, this pod (and FreeTrail) are a NorthStar for me to follow. Love all of this, thank you. Eric

-
moose 7374Good ultra contentLove their coverage of big events and their wide range of guests. Subtracted one star because I don’t like hearing about building a media business.

KnickNameHereLess bros pleaseNot sure why we needed to hear from Mr Machismo himself Cam Hanes. Hard pass for me on that gun-loving conservative. Dude makes David Goggins look like a yoga instructor. He described his life goal on his website as becoming “the ultimate predator.” Just glance at his merch store: all about his “haters,” and how “no one cares (about what exactly?), work harder!” Not the vibe I’m looking for in “trail culture,” (whatever that nebulous term means).

DH1884MONT-BLANC and the UTMBExcellent coverage, reporting, comments, etc….all week. And on You Tube as well. As a French speaking fan of your show, I have to correct you (and most English speaking people). When saying MONT-BLANC, do not pronounce the C ! ! And by the way, same for Sauvignon Blanc, for people who are celebrating !! Safe return home. 🙂

pleaserainAppreciationAppreciate this podcast by Dylan. Thoughtful questions and stirring conversations. Put it on your must-listen-to list!

LeonaMarie83451Hard to relateI enjoy the podcast from time to time but it’s hard to find a lot of it relatable. There isn’t a ton of diversity in guests (it’s mostly elite runners who have it all) and at times some it just comes across boastful. I still follow though.
-
Kaleidoscope1972🔥Fire 🔥Dylan has a deep rooted love of ultra and all things trail running has to offer. Free Trail Podcast is inspiring and informative. My go to for all the latest information on the top runners and the latest gear.

jonrichpenLike a window into the elite trail running communityFreetrail has grown on me over the last several months. Right out of the gate, I enjoyed it, but wasn’t gripped by it. Dylan is so low-key and the vibe so relaxed it didn’t grip me during my first few listens. But after a while I came to really appreciate how thoughtful Dylan is and what a genuinely good dude he seems to be. Once that happened this podcast became sort of like listening to a friend and then the low key relaxed vibe made all the sense. I now love freetrail. Dylan is a great interviewer and has on some really impressive and interesting guests and after a few episodes you feel like you’re just hanging out in the living room listening to friends who happen to be world class elite athletes share their stories. Most of the time I finish an episode and can feel what Dylan means when he says trail running will save the world.

Ben from WNCLove it!I look forward to each episode and it never disappoints. I’ve been trail running for years and consume a lot a “trail media” but I appreciate everything about this podcast. Keep up the good work DBo and company!

MC Bon-BonSettle InLove listening out on the run or in the car. Flows so well and not too many questions, Dylan let’s the pro’s/guests talk and I’ve learned so much since I started listening 3 months ago. Free trail is one of my go to mental supplements to stay motivated and occupied while grinding it out on the trails and in life! Loved the most recent episode with Tom Evans about goal setting and running psychology. Solid podcast!

Dylan has a unique ability as as interviewer, providing well researched insight, thoughtful POV, and the skill to provide space for the guest’s voice and story to really shine. DBo is on a mission to elevate the trail world through community, storytelling, and bringing voice to its deep culture.

Mel AnsonThe best ultrarunning podcast on the airwaves right now.Dylan is a great commentator on the sport. And it pairs fantastically with his experience as a top competitor as well. Nowhere else are you going to get that perspective. In addition, he brings on great guests to ensure listeners get a ton of value.
-
nashkatoFascinating and professionalStumbled on this amazing podcast. The host (Dylan or DBo) is a great communicator and finds really interesting guests. Nothing annoying and no wasting time. It’s really broadened my horizons while still being (mostly) focused on trail running.
-

Rach CBSimply wonderfulHearing “Hey fam!” and “Love you all” brings a smile to my face each episode. Dylan brings such connection to each episode that even I, as an east coast trail newbie, feel like I’m part of something bigger and so important. I’ve also really enjoyed witnessing the evolution of Freetrail and can’t wait to see what the future (or next episode) holds!
-
LisaMLangeGreat show!Dylan’s love of the sport is felt in every respectful interview he does. He delves in really interesting ways and his expertise is felt too. And I don’t hate that he’s just a really nice guy too.
-
SdddsseeddhjjmmAmazing!!I’ve listened to most of Dylan’s podcasts since he launched Freetrail and even many before under the old brand. They are all really informative excellent interviews about ultra running and trail running with top-notch guests and well structured conversations. Lately, he has really stepped it up to an even higher level with interviews like Jim Walmsley, Ryan Sandes, Francois D’Hanene and Kilian Jornet - amazing interviews with the top trail runners in the world being open about their successes and failures and telling fascinating stories about all of their incredible adventures. Well done To Dylan for all that you are doing to bring these conversations to a broader audience.
