Great Concept, But The Thrill Is Gone
When I was introduced to this podcast via PCHH, I was excited to have a movie review podcast with a Black voice leading conversations. I looked forward to pressing play on this show after walking out of the theater after seeing a film myself. After over a year of listening, I find myself left disappointed by the host’s consistent bleak tone at nearly every moviegoing experience, especially as of late. As a listener, it feels like the show and movie watching is an inconvenience to him. It comes across like it’s an obligation and burdensome to see the movie and talk about them. He comes across entitled as if he does the show as a vehicle for access to industry events/perks and a way to be a part of the conversation but not because he actually likes moviegoing, unless it’s his specific type of movie — which seems to be very rare these days.

    On Point!
Deadpool/Wolverine a let-down...yup! My 18 year old couldn't disagree more, but ya'll said it! Well done, well done!

    Must listen
I’ve been listening to Ronald’s podcasts for a while and love them so much that I became a Patreon. His laughter and movie knowledge will make you smile. And his guest hosts are always fun too!

    Our sympathies
So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I’m sure you made her very proud and she died in love. Thank you for that very difficult but heartfelt review of IF. I too am a John Krasinski fan and was planning on taking my 12 year old niece to the movie thinking it was going to be a funny, warm, feel good movie. For many reasons you articulated so well we both would have been devastated by the movie. We went to Garfield and had a silly good time which gave us the escape we needed. You are wonderful. A great son. A great podcaster. And an all around good man.

    More Please!!
I like LTT best when Ronald and his guest argue about the movie! Not only is it funny but it gives me an opportunity to think about who I might lean toward in my own viewing. Also, I love Ronald’s laugh!

    Warm, Fun, Thoughtful
This quickly became one of my favorite podcasts. Whether or not I agree with Ron on a particular film, I always enjoy and respect his reviews (here and in other podcasts). I particularly love this; because one of my favorite things to do is go to a movie with friends and discuss it fresh right afterward in the car or at a café. This has that same feeling. It’s warm and fun and thoughtful. Thanks, Ron, and guests. (Ron’s podcast Weight for It is also quite good, but very different.)

Great First Taste of New Releases
Love hearing a fresh take (with no spoilers) of newly released films. Great to hear the reviews and discussion. A great podcast for those who are trying to decide which ticket to buy next.

Like chatting with a funny and insightful friend
These are fun little episodes that give a hot take right after the first viewing. I like that they are short and sweet and provide the experience of having a brief, often funny / entertaining conversation with a friend after watching a new movie.

    Worthwhile
Okay here’s why you should listen to this podcast: do I agree with every opinion he has? No. Do I respect his commentary right out of the first viewing? YES!! Omg yes. It’s so cool to listen to reviews that are interesting and real and also knowledgeable. His reviews are really short, so even if you think one isn’t up to your standards, give it one more. It was nice to listen to a podcast that felt personable & knowledgeable, like a friend I haven’t met yet.

    Love this great podcast
I just found this podcast, and I’m hooked. The reviews are concise, everything I need to know is provided at a good pace and with a nice mix of humor sprinkled in.

I was very interested and then disappointed in “leaving the theater”
Podcast. Not so much as disagreeing with assessments of film but c’mon man where’s the excitement of viewing a film you enjoy? And the yawning during the critic?.. Nea stick to “Time.Well.Spent.”

    Good reviews -- fast
I love instant responses to movies -- often more than a critic's studied analysis because that's where the emotions are so fresh. This podcast includes a nicely deep love of film, combined with that emotional honesty -- a good touchstone. Keep up the good work!

Movies are my favorite pastime and Ronald explains each detail so well! Def a fave now.

A movie reviewer I can trust!
Leaving the Theater has become my new go to source for movie reviews. The host does such a good job of recapping without giving anything away and his movie knowledge really comes through. Unfiltered honest opinion about a film is what I want and that’s what this podcast gives me! I just want more episodes!

    Perfect
This podcast is the perfect time and format. I love listening on my way to the theater to know what I’m getting into before I sit down to watch. Great likable host!
