    Boring!
The narrator seems like she is reading straight from a script or a Wikipedia article. Hard pass

    Best podcast!
This is the best. I am a long time listener and there has never been an episode that wasn’t amazingly done.

    Excellent
There is a lot of work in research for this podcast. The host, delivers it in a smooth pace making it it an easy listen. She makes that possible even with the hardest information.
  • stillfunnyanne
    Fantastic podcast
Between the regular content and the crime news, she is consistently delivering well-written podcasts on true crime cases and news reports. Elissa is fantastic - 10/10 would recommend!

    Boring
I listened for 10 minutes before I turn it off 🙄

    Love this
This seems to be another well researched one. I appreciate the narrator , is not only good, but doesn’t do shy victim blaming or anything ridiculous
  • Fthisnikcnames
    Too graphic
The narrator is clear and eloquent. She clearly makes a good effort researching the cases in detail. She also makes an effort at the end to do a “back of the envelope diagnosis” which I guess can be interesting. HOWEVER, it is so freakin graphic I almost threw up. I can’t’! If you are ok with very detailed graphic description of horrific acts, this is for you.

Interesting and informative( yes, disturbing) episode. One jarring thing is the host calling a 1 year old victim and an adult abuser both girls in the same sentence; this feels kind of ICK, and doesn’t seem accurate for either one. The victim is a baby and the adult criminal is a woman.

    Skip the personal opinions
I turned the show off after 10 minutes 🫣

Thank you for covering my cousins story!
I love that one of my favorite podcasters is covering my cousins story! Thank you! 🤍

    Really good!
Just found this podcast while testing out something new to listen to. Pleasantly surprised! Host has a nice voice and the content is intense. Very interesting and scary at the same time. I will be checking out earlier episodes… and sleeping with the lights on.

    Fix the background music
I really enjoy this podcast, but the background music is the worst! Just have none, or get better stuff.

    Great podcast voice
I do enjoy listening. I think with the amount of information available, the episodes could be more complete. I feel it’s just a quick overview.
  • Candy Queen😘
    Love the content
I hate when Podcasters say oh I know I’m gonna pronounce this wrong and then butcher the word instead of just looking up how to pronounce difficult names and titles it’s super easy
  • THEOTW
    Love it!!
I love your podcast and your voice. Now enjoying a lot Monday and Friday murder news!!! Thank you:)

You called Rosa parks infamous that was very disrespectful

    Love!!!
Love this podcast. Love the host. Was nice to watch a few YouTube videos to put a face to the name. Giving five stars, but my only input would be to request more serial killer stories. It’s mostly just been murder in the news lately and I miss the full story content.

    Good program!
Very informative just heard the manifesto from T.Kaczynski read verbatim by her. I listen a couple of times a week.

bad reviews are written by morons.
To the individuals writing bad reviews: you don’t get it. I personally love listening to different perspectives, done by different podcasters. She’s good! She’s also respectful of the victims and her words reflect that. Just move on and leave your dumb comments.

    It’s ok, not great
Would largely categorize this as a “click bait” title. Great name and graphics, info is incomplete and leaves you feeling like you read a couple of quick headlines. More in-depth content would be better. Read like an awkward news anchor.

    Listened to one episode
Listened to one episode, the Candyman. I had listened the podcast the Candyman and the Clown and stupidly thought this was covering the same person Dean Corll aka the Candyman. This was not that. Host spent the first half narrating a movie. Really? If I wanted the movie, I would watch the movie. And when it finally got to the actual case, it wasn’t even a serial killer crime. I’m just all around confused. Did not like this style and will be trying another podcast.

    Monday
I now look forward to Mondays!!!!! I love the Monday morning murder round up. Because the rest is hot garbage. 💗
  • RasAlGhul
    Poorly researched.
The host doesn’t do much research and it shows. Just listened to the Norman Bates episode and after getting two names wrong and suggesting that a character in Psycho is the same character (same name) in Halloween, I turned it off. If you want a podcast about serial killers that gets its facts straight, look elsewhere.

    Excellent
Well constructed and informative podcast. Narrator has a soothing and pleasant voice. I just found this podcast a few days ago and have listened to several episodes now.

I liked this at first, but…
I was really into this podcast at first, but after listening to it for a few days, I’ve become really put off by it for the following reasons: 1) The host always seems to find a way to infer that religiosity and mental illness are the sole reasons someone becomes a murderer. Like, yeah, I think we all obviously understand that you have to be pretty messed up in the head to murder someone; however, psychologically profiling people based on what you could find on google while recklessly relating mental health disorders with murderers, serial killers, pedophiles, rapists, etc. without an ounce of discretion IS NOT OKAY. People with mental health issues already face enough stigma as it is. Loosely assigning mental health diagnoses to seriously dangerous people w/o disclosing that there are millions of people w/ the same disorders who don’t commit egregious acts (and even possibly live normal lives) is extremely harmful. Likewise, the host has an obvious bias towards the religious community that is quite prejudice - and I say this as an agnostic/atheist. 2) The host blatantly promotes a way for podcasters to share whatever content they want w/o getting demonetized via a loophole. Look, I honestly think that censoring has gone too far, but this lady is someone that I truly think needs to curbed. Her doing this also makes it clear as day that she’s been demonetized in the past, and it’s not hard to see why. 3) There seriously needs to be a content warning for this series. Yes, the host warns listeners when an episode contains difficult content - but, it’s literally like every episode and the stuff that she talks about it outright gruesome. This brings me to my final point: 4) Idk how in the hëłl anyone is able to cover the material that this woman does, to the extent that she does, with such an unaffected disposition. Idk if she’s just desensitized, or what, but it’s really weird and unsettling. Just do yourself a favor, and skip this. There may be a few good, and admittedly quite interesting episodes, but those episodes quickly become needles in a haystack.

    Editing needs work
So while I appreciate and enjoy the subject matter in this podcast the sound editing leaves me wanting. It used to be just the speaker’s audio always started out like she was too close to the microphone and then she slowly backed away to a normal level. She starts out loud and very echoed. Now that there are more ads on the podcast it has gotten much worse. I assume these ads are provided by the sponsors and then dropped into the Audio file by whoever edits the podcast. The problem is they come in at one audio level and no one is matching the volume of them to the rest of the podcast. The commercials are sometimes ten times the volume of the rest of the audio, which makes me jump out of my car seat when it comes on, or they are ten times less than the rest of the sound. Either way, I think someone should be doing a little bit better editing here.

    Great listen.
I enjoy this podcast a lot as the host does a good job of telling the story or horrible events. She tries to center the story on understanding the person (or sometimes place or event) as more than just a “monster.” Smart, well paced, and improving as time goes by. I’ve listed to the whole back catalogue and the show has grown and changed over time with the listener in mind. Great work!

    Unsubscribing
The cadence of the narrator’s voice is odd and difficult to listen to after a short amount of time, and her strange tonal emphasis of small words that don’t jibe with what she is actually saying in the rest of the monotone sentence, is jarring. She also seems to offer tonal sarcasm which spoon-feeds listeners what to think about historical offenders, when actually a dispassionate factual tone would inform listeners more effectively. Also, for example, in the Bonin episode, her tone of sarcasm regarding the orphanage makes evident her anti-Catholic bias, while most if not all orphanages in the past, whether secular or non-secular, were, unfortunately, abysmal and full of horrific abuses. Too much opinion here, not enough intellect. Unfortunately, I am unsubscribing.

    Ummmmmmm
Good info, but some of profiled aren’t serial killers.

    Love it but…..
Great podcast, but I often have trouble listening to past episodes because they aren’t available? Like the zodiac killer I can’t listen to because it not available. If this could be fixed it’d be an easy 5 stars

    Reading? Editing?
Such a choppy delivery. Interesting but hard to listen as the editing, or lack thereof, is terrible.

    Sorry
I used to be a reporter on live television. To get to be my best I made recording after recording and listened to them again and again until I could read from a script with a natural cadence. Your voice is pleasant; your stories are unique ones. Please practice until you gain a natural cadence.

Skinwalkers and mothman? What happened to true crime?
I really liked this podcast and waited each week for new episodes but Alyssa has gone off the deep end doing fables that simply aren’t true like mothman and skinwalkers. If this continues I’ll have to unsubscribe

    Great new find
Some good cases I never heard. Good voice. Nice and concise.
  • BexCava
I really want to love this
The content is great, unfortunately the narrator is not so great. It sounds like she is reading a script and the repetitive cadence makes every sentence have the exact same emphasis with awkward pauses. Really disappointed. It does seem like she is improving somewhat, unfortunately I couldn’t make it past the second episode. The intro is better than the narrator.

I do not at all understand your podcast goal of covering this child predator . Excuses for his heinous behavior are despicable beyond words .

    Great pod
I listen to a lot of true crime pods… I enjoy this one for the facts.

Thanks for all the work you put into this.
  • GmtKMk
Going to give it a try
But I can already tell that being able to hear her take deep breaths may bug me. The historical set up I found interesting. The case I started on is an older one so I will check out newer ones before I truly decide.
