Please consider keeping the focus on the individual being interviewed
Long time time listener and finally just have to comment on this. You have the ingredients for an incredible podcast. You have solid branding and have managed to interview many icons in the bikepacking community. These accomplished and experienced guests are engaging and well spoken. One can’t help but lose oneself in their harrowing tales of adventure, however you seem to find the need, at every turn, to attempt to spin the conversation back to you with some long winded lukewarm analogy from your own life. Repeatedly putting yourself in the spotlight rather than the individual that deserves that spotlight and the reason the listener is taking the time out of his or her day to listen to this audio content. An experienced interviewer makes the interview all about the individual being interviewed. This is meant to be positive criticism. I personally know many of the individuals you have interviewed and an experienced bikepacker. I want to see the sport and community continue to grow. I would love to see your podcast improve. Maybe go back and listen to some of your previous podcasts and compare how you conduct an interview to how others in the field do so.

Great great conversation with Gus. I love what these brothers are doing for our sport. Keep it up!! We are on our way to Oaxaca and these films are so inspiring and energizing.

Whether you are a seasoned bikepacker or just someone who enjoys sleeping in a tent smaller than a laundry basket tune in and enjoy the ride! 🚴🏻‍♂️🎙️🥳

    Great bikepacking podcast
Just a lot of good interviews on the subject of bikepacking and usually bikepacking racing. Well worth listening! I’ve been really impressed by how real and easygoing Patrick can be with his guests. Definitely not pretentious, and always fun, also has a great theme song ever since Miles Arbour was on!

    1/18 ride along ep
Since you asked for reviews, I enjoyed this one. I like dialing up bikepacking videos on YouTube so this was an easy listen. I agree that more interviews would be cool, but man when you’re going you just want to go, or just enjoy the view. I’m the same way with getting pictures.

    Consistently great guests and interviews
Patrick manages to snag interviews with the greatest bikepackers in the sport while also working in some middle of the packers with compelling stories to tell. He asks great questions and puts together episodes that are fascinating and informative.

    New(ish) to bikepacking!
This is a great podcast. I’m really enjoying listening and learning about this newish to me sport. Lots of information and fun chats so far that have me taking notes and making lists of things to buy and or look into. 🤘🏻🚲

    Best Bike/bikepacking Podcast.
I try to give other cycling/gravel podcasts a chance, but then I realize I’ve been listening to people ramble about nothing with no direction for an hour+. Patrick’s style of interviewing people goes on all sorts of tangents, yet always seems to have great direction.

    Best in class podcast
If you are interested in or into bike touring, gravel riding, or bike packing, you need to give Bikes or Death podcast a try. Patrick is so true and down to earth, something that is hard to find these days. Patrick and his team put together the best interviews with some amazing members of the bike scene. Thank you for what you and your team do Patrick.

Great Guests, but please let them just talk
I enjoy listening to the guests. There are some amazing people with vast knowledge out there on their bikes! But the host talks about himself incessantly. Please, just ask one question at a time and pause to let the guest answer before piggybacking a 2nd or 3rd question before they can answer. We want to hear the guests’ opinions, not the host’s. It’s so awkward and self-centered.

    Impactful Content
Patrick always brings out the best perspective in tapping into folks lives beyond bikes. The guests are top notch and all have amazing stories to share about life not just biking. I’ve thoroughly enjoy each episode and take away so many nuggets to apply to my own life ! Thx Patrick and the bike packing community for bringing me into a new genre of biking I’ve enjoyed Mtb for decades and have found myself looking to go beyond my comfort of miles and destinations in the backcountry.

    Fun, informative, and real
Patrick does an amazing job with this show. It’s not super polished or fancy which I appreciate the most. He has good entertaining conversations with his guests and is extremely humble. Thank you for scratching my adventure itch when I’m driving!

    Lost interest
I tried to listen to the podcast with Jeff K. but after several minutes of advertising and long discussions pushing brands, I lost interest. I get it, this is a business but more content and insight on the topic might be necessary.

    Great bikepacking podcast
Even if you’re not a bikepacker yet, Patrick’s interviews of riders, racers, route builders and bike industry people, just might turn you into one. At the very least a very entertaining podcast with great information for any cyclist.
  • colin_mcwho
    Content you love to see!
Patrick approaches each interview with a humble and curious attitude that is truly refreshing to say the least. Through dialogue and raw conversation Patrick Farnsworth is able to get to the heart of the people behind some of the most inspiring figures in the cycling/outdoor space that you otherwise would not be exposed to. No frills or gimmicks. Just people talking about their love of bikes or the places this tool helps them explore.

Best cycling podcast on the planet

    👍
When you just can’t get enough of that bike life. Can’t stop riding bikes, talking about bikes, dreaming about bikes. With Bikes or Death, you can listen to stories about bikes in your down time. Patrick is a great host. I love hearing about everyone’s adventures.
  • JunkyardnMutt
Best bikepacking podcast, just one quibble
I listen to this podcast regularly and the guests are amazing. I don’t mind the length of the shows when the conversations are engaging, and the enthusiasm everyone has for bikepacking is evident. My only problem is that Patrick, buddy, you interrupt the guests a lot. I know you’re enthusiastic, but you talk about yourself a lot. That may feel natural in the conversation, but your subscribers have listened to this show for hundreds of hours. I still wanted to give 5 stars because it’s a great platform, but honestly the constant interruptions and references to yourself are the only reason this show isn’t in my regular “must listen” rotation. Keep doing what you do and refining your craft, man.
  • EstherBikes
    Approachable bikepacking
Patrick takes the intimidation out of bikepacking. His love of the sport and admiration for those that excel in it, really helps the listener feel like they can do it too. I appreciate that he doesn’t focus so much on components and fancy bikes but rather the “how” to bikepack. He makes bikepacking feel possible for anyone in any income bracket. His interview style and genuine love of the sport makes this the best bikepacking podcast out there.
  • pinkybikes

    An Adventure for your Ears!
I stumbled across this podcast about a year ago having no idea that bikepacking or Adventure cycling even existed; I was just looking for a podcast about cycling. This podcast is not only a joy to listen to for entertainment sake, but it has proved invaluable with teaching me what I needed to know to begin taking my own bikepacking trips! Patrick lines up great interviews each episode (who knew there were so many adventure cyclists!) or even makes how-to episodes on the practical side of bikepacking. I've made many lists from the different episodes of important gear to bring, what to leave behind, and the different bags and bikes used in the sport. I look forward to new episodes of BOD, and it's always the first in my queue. I even go back and relisten to old episodes because they're so good! Thanks, Patrick, for putting together this great podcast that's fun to listen to, but thank you for introducing me to a new sport that's becoming a big part of my life! Also, for new listeners, it's okay that you don't know what The Great Divide is or who Lael Wilcox is, either! You'll find out soon enough!

    Bikepacking Inspiration
Do you know you want to go backpacking. And you probably want to talk about it with all of your friends, but they don’t know about bikepacking. Enter: this show. Patrick is a true enthusiast for the sport, and I have caught the bug. Listen in and you will too.

    Even for a non-bikepacker
Farnsworth is a good interviewer, and has interesting guests. I've listened to maybe a half-dozen episodes and enjoyed every one of them. I'm not a bikepacker, but the show isn't hardcore. Lots of good tips for bike camping, maintenance, routing, etc. that apply to anyone serious about riding.
