Bunny CubWho is the faraway sounding guyWho always interrupts people??? Maybe cut him out of the group so the flow is better? He needs to learn to listen to his podmates his interrupting comments aren’t even that interesting.

dtwohigFun lists that can’t be taken too seriouslyThoroughly enjoyable podcast from guys who are true insiders but who are still fully relatable to the average movie fan. I’ve expanded my own movie watch list (those I’ve watched or those I’ve planned to watch) listening to their commentaries. It’s also great to hear from guys who are not just contemporaries of me (age wise) but some of the reminiscences of NYC and specifically Brooklyn of the 70s and 80s (even Kings Plaza references). The only thing that annoys me is Mark’s obsession with all things Woody Allen, though to his credit he even poked fun at this during Stallone week.

Capes1969Good show with only one problem…As someone who is both vaccinated and not a redneck, I find Robert A Altman’s perpetual arrogant approach to politics and anyone he disagrees with to be at best….disappointing. I have mad love for Free Enterprise, and I enjoy Inglorious Treksperts. Like with Treksperts though, Mark can’t help himself as he is compulsive in his need to inject political divisiveness as a divine right entitlement. It’s distasteful. Today for the first time I listened to the 4:30 movie and was laughing at the discussion around Every Which Way but Loose. I am very fond of this movie. It is a favorite. I have great memories of watching it with my dad and laughing a lot. Eastwood to his credit knew when to stop and be willing to laugh at himself or a given situation. Mark A. Altman could learn a thing or two from that as I’m sure he will proudly proclaim that he does not care and that people (like me) don’t have to listen to his show. It’s a narrow view and I’m sure that deep down he does in fact care what other people, even those like me think about him. It’s a shame really. Lashing out from some position of mis-directed erudite self importance at people he disagrees with is a trait generally reflective of some level of self loathing or immaturity. But either way it sours the flavor of the great shows that he and Daren and company consistently create. I have loved movies, pop culture, and all things Trek up until 2009. The Original series was my first love. That crew were my friends. I relate to so much both here and on Treksperts. But It is both uplifting and soul crushing at times when I listen to these otherwise great programs because it doesn’t have to be this way. Inevitably the constant need to espouse his vitriol is going to have a negative impact on the quality of the work and I think that would be a shame. Because it is good work. Very good in fact. So as far the podcast is concerned I give that a 5. I give Mark A. Altman a 1 for always needing to inject himself into the podcast as negatively as he does at times. It is the exact opposite of what the original series was all about and it diminishes the show we all love and the people that work with him.

qayneIf you love movies, you have to love this show!I hate this podcast. Why? Because every week the hosts introduce me to or remind me of great films that I haven't watched and my Must See Movie List continues to grow and grow! I love the expertise, insider knowledge, and the love the hosts have for the movies they discuss.

thehuckmanMy new favorite podcast! The Electric Now is a fantastic channel that produces high quality listening. Best Movies Never Made, Inglorious Treksperts and of course, The 4:30 Movie are all worth listening to. The panel consists of very knowledgeable and funny fellows that really know their stuff. Their enthusiasm and friendly banter are infectious. Keep up the great work!

joekucharskiBest podcast for movie loversListening to the 4:30 Movie is like listening to your movie friends having the best of in-depth discussions. I bow at the altar of these guys’ knowledge. Love it!

@globalcouchGreat movie memories!Excellent podcast chat from a rag tag bunch of irregulars who love movies. Awesome format offers listeners essential viewing tips. My one quibble is the mention of Streets of Fire as worth revisiting. It is not. One song does not a movie make. It goes nowhere fast. :)

Rockford JayFive Stars for 4:30I didn’t grow up with the 4:30 Movie that’s the namesake of this entertaining podcast, but after burning through all of the episodes produced so far, I’ve started to wish I had. A week of movies programmed around a specific theme, week in and week out, would have made for a great film education then, and it definitely makes for a fun premise for a podcast now. Daren Dochterman, Mark Altman, Ashley Miller, and Steven Melching each bring a lifetime of film fandom to the table as they program a week of movies around a chosen theme, both classics films you know and interesting titles you may not know but will be inspired to check out. Entertaining, informative, and easy on the ears, The 4:30 Movie Podcast is a worthwhile addition to your regular podcast rotation.

Jim SweeneyThe Banter Is BackI stopped attending Comic-Con when the price hit $100 for a four day pass. It was no longer worth the hassle and aggravation. Before that, I never missed the chance to hear Mark Altman, Daren Dochterman and friends geek out over our favorite movie and TV franchises at a Comic-Con panel. How thrilled was I to discover that these princes of geek banter had formed a new crew and are now cracking wise to my generation of fandom on an all new podcast? Like the proverbial Jillian Guiler, “I can’t believe it’s real.” These characters are down to earth fanboys first, and knowledgeable industry insiders second, and its a joy to eavesdrop on their heartfelt dissection and celebration of the movies I grew up with. “This time it’s personal”, don’t miss The 4:30 Movie!

RocketSpotsFrak yeah!Having been a fan of Mark A. Altman’s writing for years (his 50-Years books with Ed Gross are the best making-of books on Star Trek ever made) I am over the moon to hear his takes and thoughts on geekdom on a regular basis. Could be my own tastes, but I’m always more interested in hearing commentary on movies and TV from someone that has some realistic idea of how those entertainments are made. Having been an producer for several TV shows (Castle, The Librarian) and the great cult movie Free Enterprise, Altman is exactly the kind of geek I like to listen to. Very excited. Also, he was a great guest talking Star Trek on the Dorking Out Show podcast... which I mention here for no particular reason.
