Francois MarxFull Marx ExcellentThis podcast is great so far. I’m only on episode 3 and will write more once I listen to the rest. I would have to disagree about The Coconuts being weak. This movie has probably the best comic scenes of all the movies. Via Duck, the Auction, all the scenes with Margaret Dumont, the arrival of Harpo and Chico. All brilliant and classic. I agree the music is weak and annoying.

Hawk1619Thank YouI loved this Podcast. I love the thorough analysis; which made revisiting these films a great joy. Thank you for all of your efforts!

RtabibThe worst hostWhy would someone host a show and claims that he has not watched all the Marx brothers movies. What??? And makes stupid comments. So bizzare

kellyfredsamExceptional podcast on the Marx BrothersExceptional podcast on the Marx Brothers. The hosts are knowledgeable and hilarious. I really like the format where the first part of each episode provides context letting us know where the Marx Brothers are in their career and the second part provides a scene-by-scene exploration of this week's movie. The first episode is particularly good since it provides extensive background on the Marx Brothers before they started doing movies, and this includes a lot of context that is invaluable in understanding the Marx Brothers’ movie career.

Frev1On Your Marx!A fun podcast of the Marx Brothers movies, just finished listening to the episode on ‘Go West’. Regarding the end with the Golden spike gag, interesting to note, according to Joe Adamson’s Marx book, that after Harpo drives the official into the ground with the hammer, all three Marx Brothers shake hands with each other as if they meant for that to happen, which adds an additional bit of anarchy to the ending. Looking forward to hearing more episodes!

CSR1967Great podcastI love to listen, wish I had the time. The podcasts are longer than the movies! The host are funny and knowledgeable, very easy to listen to. I recommend this to any Marx Brothers fan. My only complaints are the length and that the cover art looks like mugshots.

Rudy GazzooGreat for both hardcore and newbie fansFor those new to the Marxes, you'll get all the pertinant background and context for each film...for the diehard, there are interesting perspectives and lotsa laughs. Fascinating to hear Ian's fresh opinions, and David always tells me something I didn't know.

Vichy ChicagoLike a duck! It's recommended you listen to the episodes in order, because like all great comedy they build on each other. Dave and Ian guide us through the Marx Brothers career, with Dave giving the backstory and setting the scene for each movie beautifully. Ian, the casual Marx Brothers fan, brings his reactions to the movies without the filter of rose-colored glasses. They are the perfect pairing. Special mention: Ian and Dave are crushing it in these sidecasts, and then they get to the "Room Service" episode. They raised their game - I was incapacitated by laughter during most of their analysis. For example, Ian's high (and righteous) indignation expressed as "He literallly comes in and tells a funnier scene than the one he's doing!"

BabyFettFull Marks for the Full Marx PodcastAbout a month ago I decided to watch all the Marx Bros. films again, for the first time in a bazillion years, in chronological order, and as fate would have it the guys behind Sneaky Dragon had the same idea too! So I've been really enjoying sharing this journey with you guys. Loving the historical build up before each episode. Gives a great context and a wonderful history lesson. And I love the juxtapostion of Ian's often first-time experience vs. David's fanboy take on the films. I also love the sirens in the background, especially when you guys pause for them to pass, instead of cutting them out of the show. Somehow it adds a Harpo-esque charm to the podcast. Looking forward to more!

Edward DraganskiOh Sneaky Dragon, where have you been all my life?Alright guys, you've made me very happy. I'll go on record saying that it pays to Google for "Marx Brothers Podcast" because this is what I found...and what a find. For years, many years, I've been a sole Marx fan with not many other fans to celebrate with. And if you had told me 42 years ago when I was into the Marx Brothers for the first time that something like this was waiting for me in the future, I'd have ran the other way in disbelief. Thanks for your insight, knowledge and good natured contribution to the funniest men of our lifetime. I look forward to the rest of the Full Marx podcasts with great anticipation.... Really? So all I can do is add on to my existing review and not write any fresh, glowing new ones...okay. Absolutely stellar job on Opera and Races gentlemen!! These two films take up a huge piece of real estate in my heart since they're the two Marx Brothers films I saw first growing up. I grew up in Dallas and the local affiliate only showed Opera and Races in rotation with Go West, The Big Store and At the Circus but these two were pretty much my introduction to the Marx World of Comedy. David, your up-front insight as to where the Brothers were at in their career and how the film was written is so well told by you! I remember reading some of that years ago, but listening to your recounting of it all brings back a floodgate of memories. On more of a morose note, David sounds almost exactly like a late friend of mine whom I miss talking to very much. The tone, volume and pentameter of Ian telling stories is so dead-on that it's borderline surreal how much it sounds like my late friend...who was also a Marx Fan. Okay, creepy part aside, we've hit the peak of the Marx Brothers Mountain as we're now careening down the other side at breakneck speed! Before we know it, we'll all be on roller skates and unicycles racing through a Big Store! Top notch work so far and as I've said before, I'm looking forward more Marx Moments from Sneaky Dragon! Thanks....

Danny_JosephFun and Entertaining! Thanks, boys, for taking on analysis of my favorite comedians! I loved Full Marx 1-3. David- I believe you are the Marx expert-You do a great job of giving the fascinating backstory of the Marx boys career and writers and co stars and movies. Keep them coming. Very entertaining and informative. My only criticism would be... David- if you’re more comfortable calling the oldest brother “Cheeko,” that’s fine- but it is distracting when you repeatedly correct your pronunciation to “Chicko”. I don’t believe the Marxes corrected people who said Cheeko. So, just relax and keep it up. Your Marxian discussions are delightful! Thank you! Danny Joseph

MPD MachineOn the Marx! The Marx Brothers podcasts David and Ian are compiling are phenomenal. As someone who vaguely remembers the brothers’ movies from reruns in my childhood, their effort has re-engaged me. Watching each movie now as an adult, I’m dazzled by the Marx comedic excellence. Davis’s storehouse of knowledge into their history and the movie releases enhances my appreciation, and gives helpful context as I watch each film. And there’s so much to learn. I never knew that the troupe performed in plays before and while doing films. Made the connection that Groucho’s intro song on You Bet Your Life was from his character”s Animal Cracker’s theme song. A wonderful podcast to be introduced to or recapture understanding of the Marx Brothers’ impact.

LaurelGRThe Sneaky Dragon duo have done it again!David Dedrick and Ian Boothby of Sneaky Dragon fame give us yet another excellent podcast! Besides Sneaky Dragon ( a delightful weekly pop culture podcast), these two have also produced "Compleatly Beatles" and "Totally Tintin"podcasts. Now, a new and incredibly insightful look into the Marx Brothers, their rise through vaudeville, and their movies, to inform and entertain us! The first episode is really enjoyable and I am looking forward to hearing more from David and Ian! Definitely, this is a podcast everyone should check out, as well as all of their others!

Robert_DCFive stars, four honks and one hard boiled egg (make that two hard boiled eggs)A fun, in-depth look at the Marx Brothers' history and films from the Sneaky Dragon podcast hosts Ian Boothby and David Dedrick. The conversation has their usual blend of humor and insight. There's a great balance in their discussion of the Marx' films. David's brings his research into Marx Brothers' history, and great observations on their work while Ian, a more casual fan of the Brothers, provides the perspective of someone viewing some of their films for the first time as well as his insights as a comedy performer and writer. Bravo!
