Millennials Are Killing Capitalism

Politics #228

We created this podcast in recognition that there are a number of podcasts for the American “left,” but many of them focus heavily on the organizing of social democrats, progressives, and liberal democrats. Aside from that, on the left we are always fighting a war of ideas and if we do not continue to build platforms to share those ideas and the stories of their implementation from a leftist perspective, they will continue to be ignored, misrepresented, and dismissed by the capitalist media and as a result by the general public. Our goal is to provide a platform for communists, anti-imperialists, Black Liberation movements, ancoms, left libertarians, LBGTQ activists, feminists, immigration activists, and abolitionists to discuss radical politics, radical organizing and share their visions for a better world. Our goal is to center organizers who represent and work with marginalized communities building survival programs, defense programs, political education, and counterpower. We also plan to bring in perspectives on and from the global south to highlight anti-capitalist struggles outside the imperial core. We view solidarity with decolonization, indigenous, anti-imperialist, environmentalist, socialist, and anarchist movements across the world as necessary steps toward meaningful liberation for all people. Too often within the imperial core we focus on our own struggles without taking the time to understand those fighting for freedom from beneath the empire’s thumb. It is important to highlight these struggles, learn what we can from them, offer solidarity, and support with action when we can. It is not enough to Fight For $15 an hour and Single-Payer within the core, while the US actively fights against the self-determination of the people of the global economically and militarily. We recognize that except for the extremely wealthy and privileged, our fates and struggles are intrinsically connected. We hope that our podcast becomes a meaningful platform for organizers and activists fighting for social change to connect their local movements to broader movements centered around the fight to end imperialism, capitalism, racism, discrimination based on gender identity or sexuality, sexism, and ableism. Great topics, host needs to speak more clearly.
Love the podcast. Recommend the host slowing their speech down and enunciating more.

    Great subject but
Josh…SLOW DOWN. Opening a discussion with an author or guest by reading a block quote of their words ar WARP SPEED is a terrible way to start a discussion. I’ve started and abandoned numerous episodes because of the co-hosts reading style. This is such an important podcast and series, but the experience as a listener is seldom good. Clarity + brevity + pace = better.

    Serious, in depth discussions
This show will broaden and deepen your understanding of history, psychology, sociology, revolutionary theory among many other areas of study. It is a serious show. Love the long-form interviews that dont feel rushed or over-edited. Keep up the great work!!

    Pay attention!
We all have so much to learn from the most enlightened generation that ever is, was, or will be. These millennials are creating utopia.

    hosts are all talk
this show has great guests but Josh is just another empty hot take machine on every other platforms and loves to punch down. his views on disability align with the fuhrer’s.

Great interview. Mind blowing actually! Not familiar with the French intelligentsia, radical liberal anti-communists, petty bourgeois collaborators…exposed. Going to Rockhill’s link!

    This podcast radicalized me
I can’t actually recall precisely how I stumbled across this podcast. I know it was during the Trump administration, when I was still a liberal but very disillusioned by the Democratic Party. I found myself eager for political education that went beyond electoral politics. Four years later, I am a proud Patreon subscriber, avid listener, and a radical leftist who is probably an anarchist but still has a lot to learn. Thank you, Jay and Josh, for this fantastic podcast and for all the work y’all put into bringing on amazing and knowledgeable guests in order to hold important and necessary conversations about liberation and the necessity of both theory and praxis.

    excellent political education
this podcast has incredible breadth in the topics they cover. I came for the Joy James interview, and was overjoyed to find an archive with four years worth of quality interviews. They cover topics that the other leftist interview podcasts I like (like the Dig or Know Your Enemy) rarely ever cover. You won’t always agree with the guests, but I’ve learned something valuable from every interview. Also, the special episode about MF DOOM is just awesome!

    Gloria Richardson’s Episode
I recently began listening to this podcast, and it is a different experience because of the focus on the guest speakers. Amplifying the voices and maintaining focus on their stories is enthralling and motivating. I appreciate the podcasters for encouraging the ample space for speakers to talk at length. It is a good format for absorbing this content. (Compared to more dialogue/discussion based podcast content, maybe I just haven’t listened to enough of their episodes to hear that style) Solidarity with you and any readers of this review

This podcast shows ultimate ignorance LOL
Every time I hear this podcast I listen to a bunch of claims that are really, really crazy with no evidence to back it up. It’s like when Ibram X was asked to define racism and he said racist policies, racial oppression, and the systems of systemic racism. Ultimately they don’t elaborate on any of their thoughts and clearly have gone down a rabbit hole that’s turning into an Egyptian gold mine but instead of the product being gold it’s more like a farmers cow manure pile. They have a very ignorant view of the world, clearly don’t understand how anything works, and are filled with resentment. It’s sad to see people so radicalized wasting their time trying to influence others.

    Truly important
I never listened to podcasts. But this is one I will listen to consistently. I even am having students listen to some of these interviews as sources. Amazing podcast. Immeasurably important content.

    Intelligentsia speak
Some episodes are accessible to a lay but most episodes are impenetrable discussions between academics. The hosts aren’t good at defining terms for non-academe listeners. The episodes with historical political activists are more accessible and interesting than the rest. It’s a political philosophy podcast for political philosophers.

    Utterly fantastic
I have learned SO MUCH from this podcast, in terms of both how to think and how to act. Every episode I listen to blows my mind in some way. Such great guests, such great interviewers. Thank you!!

So proud of the episodes featuring Zoe (black anarcho-feminism, yes please) and Sankofa, especially the breakdown on Beyonce. Don’t disrespect the 👑 This show is radical and yet relevant. It’s a hard balance to bring to the table. Also North Carolina we are doing a good job around organizing and having really powerful conversations! Go us !
