    Where did it go?? 😭
Loved this show, so fun to hear from folks in bands so important to my childhood. Bring it back!

    Ehh
Well, it’s good occasionally. The show doesn’t seem to live up to its original premise. They never address anything remotely controversial. If there is a chance T&N might look a little bad from a topic, they don’t cover it. A show like this should be fully independent of the label. UPDATE: a recent clip from Juliana Theory confirms that the label edits out anything that makes it look bad

Show is edited to make the label look good. Let people tell their real experiences.

    Fluids look good!
Best under the hood podcast into some of my favorite bands. Matt is great at capturing conversations that are true to what growing up a tooth & nail fan was like back in the 2000s. Bad Christian was cool too especially the stories about how emery started and all.

Tooth and nail kid for life
Love this podcast so much. I’d love to hear Daniel Davison on here who is without a doubt a T&N legend

    Great Podcast
I love this podcast. I’m not usually someone who listens to podcasts but my foster dad put me onto it, and I’ve listened to every episode since it first came out. Only complaint is Matt seems to butt in wayyyyyyy too much instead of just letting the guests talk. Besides that, I enjoy the podcast very much.

We need a Haste the Day episode!
    Love the podcast.

    Love it
Love this so far. So many other bands I’d love to hear from or about. Definitely an episode on Further Seems Forever! Other bands I’d like to hear about would be Halo Friendlies, The Huntington’s, and some of the other less known bands.

If you like hearing a hick talk about pop punk. This is for you.

    Stretch Arm Strong next please
Great show. Let’s hear an episode with Stretch Arm Strong. A criminally underrated band within the Solid State world yet an unbelievably important and loved band within the hxc world.

This is such a great podcast.
It drips pure nostalgia and it does does a great job of reflecting on an incredible era of music. I love seeing them hitting the earlier 90’s stuff that they are hitting now.

    Josh Scogin Episode; best yet
I’ve been aware of Scogin for years and have always been a casual fan. I saw Luti-Kris years ago when they were a new band, I caught (and opened for) Norma Jean on multiple occasions, and I’ve owned records by Norma Jean and The Chariot, but somehow ‘68 eluded me. Thanks to this episode I am now infatuated with their sound. I never knew what a cool dude Josh Scogin was, and I was thrilled that he and I share a common love for Starflyer 59, my all-time favorite band. Matt Carter, this interview was the best one I’ve heard on this show yet, and probably the best interview I’ve ever heard. You asked the perfect questions, and Josh’s responses were supremely satisfying and introspective. Thanks for nailing this! Additionally, it was cool to hear Ben Ricketts mentioned at the end of the episode for recognizing the tone at the end of the podcast. Matt mentioned that if Ben wasn’t already a musician, she should consider becoming one. He is, and his music is amazing. I highly recommend checking him out. He also shares a love of Starflyer 59—I know him through the Starflyer FB fan group.

    Fascinating
I got into Tooth & Nail around 2000, and this podcast is both nostalgic and really enlightening. It’s unfortunate they feel the need to throw the Christian scene under the bus so often, as though 1) there were no benefits to being in that scene, and 2) the Christian scene is the only one with problems or an agenda—don’t all bands have a message they want to share, Christian or otherwise? Other than the frequent jade that comes through, still a really fascinating podcast.

    Criminally Underrated
I listened to the podcast of Dead Poetic and began to realize how much of a disconnect there really was between the fans and the artists. I couldn’t help but feel so much empathy for Brandon Rike, but that music carried me through so much loneliness. When they split I remember feeling so sad...but I treasure Vices and New Medicines. I pray one day they’ll release one last project...not to tour, but for those who truly loved their God given talents as a whole.

    Great freaking show
I love this show! The interviews are so good and as a musician heavily inspired by most of these guys this show is my fav. -Darrell from The Loot Bros Podcast

If you know, then you know, and you’ll love it
If you knew these bands in the heyday of the early 2000s and followed Solid State and Tooth & Nail then you’ll love this Podcast. The discussions are deep and meaningful, raw and open, and resonate in such a genuine way that it’s clear that it continues something special. If the Christianity angle is not your thing, it can get a bit repetitive but it doesn’t take away from it

    Remembering great times
The band I was in recorded with Wisner right after Underoath finished “Only Chasing Safety”. We were working on our record when Spencer and Aaron came in to polish some vocals. It was cool to hear some of the first mixes. It was a great record! I enjoy the podcast and getting to hear stories from this time period. Brings back lots of fun memories.

A run back through my teenage years
I love this podcast. Taking a behind the scenes tour with all my favorite bands in high school and realizing how lucky I was to be getting into the music scene at that time. I forgot about so much of this music and have been listening to it all over again. Thank you for making this podcast!

    Emery Episode
If it makes you feel any better, I think “I’m Only a Man” is your best record front to back. It’s really incredible. One of my all time favorites.

    Funny show
    Best music podcast hands down.

    No Joy Electric?!?
It’s a good podcast. I love the history of Tooth and Nail, but why has there been no mention of the greatest Tooth and Nail band: Joy Electric!!! I want to hear from Ronnie and dig into his counter-culture story. He’s so punk rock he refused to even use guitars! Let’s hear his story! He had over a dozen releases on the label but hasn’t even gotten a mention in 18 episodes...

    What a journey... great storytelling
This podcast has been amazing. Taking me back through my teens and getting a behind the scenes look at a record label and the bands that shaped my adolescences. Love it!

    New Host, please
The idea of this podcast is great, but there are so many founding bands that have never been touched. Can we leave Matt to his BadChristian platform and find a host who doesn’t just love to hear himself talk? So much potential here, but is increasingly become T&N through the eyes of Matt Carter and the greatest, most innovative, earth shattering band, Emery.

    I Was There
I wish I knew about this podcast earlier. I was the sales rep for Frontline and Diamante on the West Coast during this era. And before that managed the largest Christian Music Store in the country, Maranatha Village. Selling this music into Christian Bookstores lends itself to a ton of stories.

A honest podcast about music, that neither apologizes or is highly critical

    High Quality Entertainment
This might be my favorite podcast EVER. Each episode is like a stand-alone documentary—you can tell how many hours go into a podcast of this magnitude, and the quality just radiates off every episode. As a music fan, this is a must-listen! (A note to everyone at the podcast—you can’t listen to the first season anymore?? There were some great episodes there, would love to see them back up again)

Hey Matt, love all the history of T&N episodes. Food for thought, you could easily do another episode or two of Cornerstone stories. Love it!! Keep up the great podcasts!

    Nostalgia!!!
Tooth and Nail was such a huge part of my teenage years! MXPX, Ghoti Hook, Blenderhead, Plankeye, Joy Electric, Mewithoutyou, Blindside, Luti... I mean Norma Jean. If these bands were a part of your life, you need to check this Podcast out!

I’m a Tooth and Nail kid through and through. This is by far my favorite and most anticipated podcast. Thanks for doing this.

    Getting worse but still interesting
Matt and crew have decided to take the hipster reductionist route by talking about how bands who didn’t want to talk about their faith were/are better people than those bands/pastors/people who did. In the last episode I kept hearing things like “they were manipulating kids to listen to preaching” and “they didn’t care about the music” but then they contradict themselves saying “Brandon Ebel was giving kids music they didn’t even know they wanted” and they were distributing the music. What’s the difference? It’s not a bare and switch. It’s talking about what you believe in. I don’t like rappers handing me their crappy cds but people really into hip hop (or those who don’t know they want it^^^) do like that just as I liked punk rockers and labels handing me their samplers back in the day. They baited me and I’m glad they did. Stop acting like you don’t promote the things you like and stop mocking people who do. It’s childish.

    LOVING SEASON 3
Labeled was already good and the new format is one I really dig. Great conversation and sound design. I love following along with Tooth and Nail’s story.

    Love it
It was great going through memory lane with the older bands I grew up listening to. As far as a podcast the team did an amazing job in their research and getting interviews and a proper journalistic way. I loved it and excited for more content.

    Don’t stop!
I love this podcast! I can’t imagine a better idea for a show! The stories and the follow up with the bands and even Brandon Ebel. Great job! Please keep it up! There’s years of stuff to go through.

    Excellent
Love hearing the details about so many of the stories and rumors of these bands from my youth. Great podcast!

Behind the scenes, in a good way
Hearing the behind the scenes (both good and bad!) things that went into my favorite bands is awesome. Plenty of stories from the people who were there. Must listen for anyone who loved Tooth & Nail bands!
  • Jimbobromania
    Genuine, entertaining, and thought provoking
I really like this podcast because you guys have genuine casual conversations with people who are giants in most of our lives and it helps us see they struggle just as much as we do. I also love all the great stories we would probably never hear if we were to talk with these people ourselves. Great job, keep it up, and thank you for such a well produced podcast!

What about a Living Sacrifice episode? I love this podcast.

    Very Crucial
Love the podcast! Been jamming it and waiting impatiently in between every episode! The one on squad ruled so hard! I used to be in a band on solid state that obviously sounded nothing like squad, but I copied everything their lead singer did. Very fun band! I still have a squad poster hanging in my closet. I was stoked to hear the behind the scenes.

    Fine.
I still listen to the show for the stories, because I'm interested in these bands and the T&N culture, but the hosts are incredibly judgemental, and they bring way too much of their own opinions into what is ostensibly a documentary-style podcast. Far too often they shame other artists for their behaviors, and hold themselves up as paragons of decency. It's irritating. I'm sure these dudes believe they are literally doing the Lord's work, but the moralist editorializing is the opposite of ethical journalism. There are moments when this show is like an elitist Christian rock version of TMZ. On the As Cities Burn episode the hosts gossip about their supposed friends' interpersonal struggles without said friends around. They then badger and guilt the ACB members separately about why they are no longer making music together, and then present the findings of those conversations to other members in a naked effort to elicit incendiary responses. It's gross. I hope the Emery dudes haven't deluded themselves into believing they are anything resembling good people, let alone good friends.
