Always fun listening to these guys and reliving old times. I listen throughout the year, and always make sure to spend some time with these episodes between Halloween and Christmas.

I have listened to EVERY episode multiples times!! (I literally start from the beginning every time I get to whatever the last episode is.) I have also downloaded all of the songs they mention in their Christmas and Halloween songs episodes. Keep up the amazing work, Jay and Matt!!

This is a review rewrite, because I’ve become quite a dedicated fan of this show and realized I’ve been listen for years?!?! From the self depreciating humor and malapropisms and mispronouncing of words (it is absolutely now pronounced paLATable) to the bottomless stories, I think these guys have nailed it. A good dose of retro but also updates on the latest Halloween tie ins and junk foods of joy. When I can’t sleep, when I’m up early working out so I don’t die from the Roy Rogers chicken and Wendy’s Superbar pasta I ate as I kid, or when I just need to get in the Halloween spirit I listen to these guys. Every year I start at Ep 1 and do an episode every day or till I hit the end. Thanks Purple Stuff! The lights on this house are definitely twinkling!

This is like MST3k, but for my childhood. I swear this is what I listen to when nothing else will make me happy. Keep it up guys!

These guys are a blast! So much nostalgia! They clearly have a real love and a lot of knowledge about the stuff they cover. Sometimes the fact that they’re BLAZED the entire time can be a little annoying when they go into a fit of hysterical laughter. Maybe edit a little of that out. The other thing that’s a little jarring is the constant F bombs. I have no issue with casual swearing, I’ve been known to drop an F word or two myself, but this is like Scorsese levels of bombing. A little weird when you’re talking about Santa and children’s toys. 😂

So I gave the first episode of this show a listen a few years ago and I wasn’t sold on it. They were coming up with ideas for snack foods and I was like what is this? I decided to give it another shot a few weeks ago and once I got passed that first episode I was blown away. These guys are super knowledgeable about all the nerdy 80’s and 90’s things I love and they’re very funny. I’m gradually getting through their backlog and I’m going to be a long time listener for sure. Work has been going by very smoothly since I started this show. A great listen for kids of the early 80’s.

My all time favorite podcast. Jay and Matt make you feel like you’re hanging out with your best friends just shooting the stuff about memories and your niche interests. I’ve been following them since day one and I’ll always be grateful for what they do.

These guys bring up so many things that I thought only I remembered and even some things I’ve totally forgotten about. My eBay app is opened nearly every episode searching for something they’ve mentioned. Many nostalgia sites and pages only talk about the mainstream things. Purple Stuff does deep dives. An absolute blast and very well done. Thanks, guys!

Highly imitated but never replicated, Matt and Jay are simply the best dudes in the holiday/nostalgia/collecting millileu. Their chemistry is unmatched, their humor is light and goofy, their taste is…well…debatable, BUT that’s what makes listening to them quibble and bond over low stakes items (such as 40 year old cereal) such a scream. I’ve been following their antics for 2 decades and they haven’t let me down yet!

Love love love this podcast. Listened to the creepshow episode and was hooked ever since. Can’t wait to listen to the rest. Tons of nostalgia. The hosts are great! Very funny as well

So pumped I found this podcast. These straight up discuss everything I loved as a kid: fast food holiday specials, commercials, 80/90s horror films/tv specials, etc. Nothing but positive love for throwback pop culture. Thanks dudes.

Spooky songs, weird foods from your childhood, Monster tributes, wrestling memories I half pay attention to, and an obsession with experiencing movie tie-ins… this pod’s got it all!

I recently discovered these two scholars of retro and immediately knew this show was for me. The topics, the banter, the silly references, hits all my buttons. My only complaint is there isn't more, but seriously give them a listen you won't be disappointed!

These guys do a good episode when the waves of nostalga come in strong and the things they talk about I didn't expirence but I was alive then and they set me up with memories of things that I can relate back to the topic they are talking about

Take 2 parts Ecto-cooler, 1 part Tmnt ooze, 1 part Apple Slice and a sprinkle of whatever makes Skeletor Scare Glow and you have the Purple Stuff Podcast. This show is infinitely re-watchable. Doesn’t matter if it’s from 2015 or 2023. On top of that Jay and Dino Drac are the most radical cats around. Definitely need more Purple Stuff shot all over my face. Five Stars

The show is definitely 5 Stars. If you like nostalgia in the slightest, you’ll really enjoy The Purple Stuff Podcast. Matt & Jay are fun and have a great rapport and really seem to enjoy making the show. You can jump in at any point but once you start, you’ll end up going back and listening to previous episodes…I did. I find myself going back and re-listening to previous show, it’s comfort listening. If you grew watching cartoons and shows like ALF, If you still enjoy strolling down the cereal aisle or like to stay up to date on Happy Meals this is definitely the show for you.

There’s nothing I can add that all the other reviews haven’t already said. Jay and Matt make me laugh more than anyone, while reliving my younger days of horror, WPIX and everything else 80s (and early 90s).

Just updating to reiterate how much I love this show. I often think about another reviewer who said this show does more for the anxiety than years of therapy, and it’s literally true. I re-listen to past episodes all the time. I wish they put out new ones weekly. I love this podcast so much. They do the best job at capturing the nostalgia of so many things and have a great energy together. I feel like I often identify with Matt’s feelings and reactions, and find myself actually LOLing often.

Re-listening to each episode is like turning on the tube and your favorite syndicated TV show from your childhood is running a nonstop marathon complete with old commercials, slogans, jingles and enough nostalgia bombs to keep you smiling all the way through.

If you grew up in the 80’a and 90’s you’ll love this podcast.

This podcast is just everything. Takes me back to the best days of my youth. The nostalgia here is top notch. So amazing.

And this show proves it! I can’t begin to express how fond I am of this podcast, and how much it has enriched my life. I remember the first time I heard that two of my favorite harbingers of all things Pop Nostalgia were going to be hosting a podcast! I immediately grabbed my Crystal Pepsi tumbler and filled it with Sierra Mist, popped open a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and sat down for what was to become my own mental time machine into my past for the next 7 years! I’ve never stopped listening to this podcast and hope I never have to! Every show (even the wrestling ones) I’ve listened to at least 2-3 times over, sometimes more! I can honestly say this is the only reason podcasting was invented. Thank you Matt and Jay for keeping these memories alive and in the hall of records!

Relaxing chill show with funny hosts and a pleasant hang out atmosphere, their Halloween shows are always a highlight. My favorite episode was their emergency search for Ecto-Cooler

These guys pretty much love everything I do. They discuss everything from Ghoulies to Madonna to 80’s commercials. I absolutely adore this podcast. It’s fun, positive and it just takes me back to a simpler time. I can’t say enough about this podcast. It’s great.

Without getting into too much detail, this podcast does more to relieve my anxiety than many years of fairly intensive therapy has. The episodes are a reprieve from the sense of looming dread that constantly haunts me, so thank you for that. A+

The Purple Stuff Podcast is two guys having a great time talking about silly junk. And it’s awesome. I love their camaraderie and the pure joy they take in things like WWE wrestling, Happy Meal Toys, etc. A genuinely fun listen!

I found this podcast through Matt’s Dinosaur Dracula blog (love the ancient holiday appetizers and retro food posts!) and have been hooked ever since. WPIX dude! Anyway, they cover topics ranging from discontinued snacks to unsolved mysteries and creepy retro commercials. They are hilarious, entertaining and I love Jay’s sexy voice. How about some sponsors?

Not only does this 49-year-old man love listening to Jay and Matt; both my 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son request The Purple Stuff when we go to the city for some fast food. Obviously the best podcast to listen to when you’re chowing down at the drive thru, but so much more than that. They capture sincerely and legitimately so many of the memories of youth: special cravings and anticipations, comfort foods, and moments that were so deliciously scary (in retrospect), like imagining an alien is looking in your bedroom window after some late-night TV viewing. They get the nostalgia “feels” and nail them down and communicate them so effectively that we relive them ourselves — or even feel them vicariously (they’ve sometimes made me feel nostalgic for stuff I’d never even heard of before 😂). That’s some special kind of talent. Keep dishing up the stuff, boys, and may it always be satisfyingly purple.

My favorite podcast, hands down. Matt and Jay cater to the 80’s and 90’s kids who are “adults” now and miss the best times. I came for the Halloween love and stayed for the banter and pop culture fun. They’re not just Halloween purists either- there’s good coverage of all of the different holidays which is refreshing and adds a fun element to the holiday season. Always something to look forward to!

I can’t recommend this podcast enough for anyone who grew up in the 80s or 90s. Jay and Matt have recaptured my youth. I’ve been a listener since the beginning and have listened to every episode multiple times. I think my favorite moment is the discussion of the Quik Bunny in a Thanksgiving episode. Hilarious. My life is happier because this podcast exists.
