    Dismissive of popular fiction…
…their site should be called, Book Snob. This last episode where they picked the It Books of the Year was my last Book Riot podcast (and I’ve subscribed to many of their shows over several years). They weren’t picking the “best” of the year, instead the “it” books of the year and of course Fourth Wing and Spare should have both been on it, not just Fourth Wing begrudgingly. For the record, I’ve not read either. But they were two of the most talked about books of the year! For the record. I’m a liberal, rare book librarian who reads across genres and you would think I would be their target demographic. But, no thanks! Not anymore.

    Love this!!
Love this new addition to the Book Riot podcasts. I’m getting so many new book recommendations and have found myself persuaded to read books I wasn’t previously excited about (and possibly a bit of the opposite, too, which I appreciate so I’m not spinning my wheels on books I’m not going to love). Looking forward to November’s episode already!!

    Thank you
Very cool and interesting to hear what is happening at Red Tower Books. Thanks, Jeff, for introducing me to Fourth Wing. Am age 70 and cannot wait for the second book release in November. Older humans love dragons, too. Deb Romary

    Nerdy fun
I love this podcast! I love getting a bit of an insiders perspective into what’s happening in the book world. I also love the very literary interviews that happen on this podcast. They’re wide ranging, but always fascinating.

Please Just Add This To Book Riot
Full disclosure: I came to this podcast from the All The Books! podcast, which I LOVE. The original concept for First Edition, when Jeff first described it, sounded great. But, what this is actually turned into is mostly the monthly “It” Book Knockout episode. I love those episodes! They have been wonderful! But, because I started listening to those episodes and wanted more (First Edition isn’t weekly, either), I went and found the OG Book Riot podcast. First Edition is not different enough, or released often enough, to warrant being its own thing in my opinion. All the folks who make these podcasts are wonderful and I really enjoy listening to them, but I would prefer to see the “It” Book Knockout episode as something slotted into the Book Riot podcast rather than have this whole separate thing. I’m not clear on why it could not have just been a monthly supplemental episode to the Book Riot podcast. (New books for that month count as news.) And, respectfully, there hasn’t been anything else consistent (or clearly stated as a plan) to make First Edition stand out. So, I guess I’m going to continue to have three different podcasts in my feed, but I really think it could be condensed down to two.

    First Edition
Really loving First Edition, particularly the monthly knock out rounds. It really helps me refine my TBR list and is a fun listen!

    Love it!
This is different then the usual book podcasts I listen to. I love the discussion of the rankings of the books, and I do like interviews with people in publishing industry. This podcast is definitely in my book podcast rotation.

Love the format; love the content!
This literary podcast is fresh and invigorating! The It Book discussion is fun, informative and I enjoy hearing the podcasters’ reasoning to place one book over another. The moderator is knowledgeable about both books themselves and the business of books. Thoughtful insights and irreverent observations spark debate and substantive discussions that are a delight. Loved the episode on audible books (I am a big user!) not only on content, but accessibility and the business growth of this consumption of books. Keep it up! I am a fan!

I’m really enjoying this podcast, especially the it book of the month episodes. I love hearing about what’s coming and I immediately add them to my TBR list.

    First episode
Really enjoyed the first episode esp the It book for April format. I would listen to an It book episode every month. Came out with several books for my TBR pile. Wanted to note that I rarely read non fiction, but will read anything David Grann writes.

Meeting an unmet need in the bookish world
Ahhh, a new project from the Book Riot Podcast co-host! Off to a great start. Can’t wait for more. I often wonder what creative things the book industry folks will do next. Unsurprised that Jeff (and Book Riot) is one to keep innovating. Grateful.

    Great and Different Book Podcast
I am an avid Book Riot Podcast listener and this was great in the way that Book Riot is, but so different and a nice breath of fresh air! Can’t wait for the next episode!
