I will be listening to your new stuff!
I loved the lightness and kindness of this podcast. It was one of the sweetest shows on air, and the world is a tiny bit sadder without them. I’ll be tuning in to the new ones, but it won’t be quite the same

    Wow, great show treated badly
I love this show. It is amazing that Ridiculous Crime is still going but this isn’t. I guess True Crime is ok, but a show about Romance isn’t. Says a lot about the world. I will check out their new shows, though I am not sure about the themes of AI and smoking. :/ I just want this show. It made me happy. :(

    Fantastic chemistry and amazing show
I’ve been listening to Eli and Diana since the beginning and absolutely love their show. They cover interesting topics in open minded ways and have amazing banter that feels very relatable. Right from the first episode I connected with them as hosts and their ways of story telling. Keep sharing these amazing and ridiculous stories! Y’all have become one of my favorite podcasts. Hope yall will come back! We miss you 😢

    Still Producing Great Content
Been listening for a while - but the Lorrie Morgan episode killed me. I had no idea about Fred Thompson - and I don’t think I will ever be the same again.

    Laughs and heart
I love your storytelling! Your chemistry is beautiful! Diana, for the record, I’m 43, and it’s only been within the last year or two that I can go into the restroom in the dark without psyching myself up and/or not looking in the mirror, afraid that Bloody Mary will come out and scatter my body throughout the land like she allegedly did to those poor campers I heard about as a kid.

    So Entertaining!
I absolutely love Diana and Eli’s Ridiculous Romance podcast! It’s part history, part pop culture, and entirely entertaining! I love Diana’s humor and Eli’s accents as they tell stories of some very interesting couples and relationships from various cultures and time periods. This has definitely become my go-to podcast when I’m in the car!

    Babble and Bombs - duds
The topics are interesting, but would be easier to follow if this couple didn't have side stories, dramatic interlude music, and jokes. Some of the jokes are extremely hurtful to the people, ethnicities, or choices of the characters in their recount of the history. The swearing feels very forced. In the beginning of the show it was minor, not acceptable but minor. Now, I think the confidence has increased and so has the swearing. it's a wierd mix of "I'm trying to be cool and liked" and "I'm confident this is what I should sound like but not in real life". it's awkward, andI can't listen with my kids, so I can't listen anymore because of so many other family friendly and better shows out there.

    Best podcast so far
I don’t listen to many podcasts since I sometimes have a hard time getting used to the setup, the host’s cadence’s, that sort of thing, but as soon as I started listening to y’all’s podcast I absolutely loved it. Especially since the episodes are good lengths and y’all actually go in depth into the romances, or as much in depth as you can anyways. I haven’t listened to every single episode yet since I listen to the new ones before getting back to listening to the older ones, but either way they’re ✨amazing✨. 100/10 would recommend to other people. And quite honestly I’m at the point where if I’m not thinking about anything important, I’m usually thinking about something to suggest for the show that hasn’t been suggested/done yet but haven’t thought of anything so far. Either way, I still love love love the podcast and will definitely recommend anything that I happen to come across that hasn’t been done yet. I love listening when I need some quality entertainment.

    6 out of 5 stars
I’m a true crime and horror podcast listener. But when I start my listening day and I see that Eli and Diana have downloaded a new episode of Ridiculous Romance, that’s where I start. Please keep doing what your doin’.

    i love this show!
Hello, Eli and Diana, I just wanted to say I love your show, I've learned so much about ridicious relationships, some of which I was famillar with, and others that I had no idea about! I have a request: can you please cover Catherine the Great's relationship with Grigory Potemkin? It seems perfect for your show!
  • kimb16
    Fantastic story telling
It always takes me a second to get used to a new podcast’s hosts, and you can tell they were also getting a feel for their own style in the first couple of episodes (they even call it out in the third or fourth which made me laugh), but I’m so glad I stuck with this. They’ve got great banter, I love the insertions like speculation station and poetry corner to break up the straight story, and the stories themselves run the gamut of time periods, people/things involved, and story behind it all. Definitely worth a listen.
  • Lilee637
    Top podcast!
Truly ridiculous couples including Eli and Diana. These two are funny but also have no problem getting serious when needed. You won’t regret giving them a listen.

The very first podcast I’ve ever listened to
I love this podcast so much. I wait patiently for new episodes. I love Eli and Diana’s witty banter and their way of delving into difficult topics with grace and comedy. I hope you two never stop making this podcast.

    Forced Giggles and Silly Banter
I liked the premise and had interest in the stories but I’m finding it hard to listen with their constant chatter that doesn’t pertain to the story and what sounds like uncomfortable laughter by both of the hosts. It makes it so I lose focus between the actual important parts of the story and then miss what I wanted to hear. Too much fluff.

    So entertaining!
The hosts clearly have a background in performance because each episode is so very engaging and entertaining! They are both hilarious, with a nice balance of wholesomeness, wit, and “cringe.” I appreciate how they approach each story with open minds. I love listening to each episode and recommend it to all of my friends!
  • Kirball.com
    The people have spoken!
The verdict is in. It’s only “some is cringeworthy”.
  • Sweetascanbe33
    Trying too hard
Interesting information, but…. Weird sound effects in the background Stupid jokes and laughing Annoying voice changes Acting like you know it all about marriage and relationships when you you’re so young and clueless….
  • Aric Buckholt
    Interesting stuff
Just an enjoyable podcast. Some of the stories can be sad, and some is cringe worthy, but it is still enjoyable. Worth a listen.
  • universalworst
    Love the show but
I’m still giving it a 5 star review but I have to defend the Danes here— 17% of vets suspect that they have treated an animal that was abused in the way you described does not mean that 17% of animals treated seem to have signs of that abuse, it means that in the dozens or hundreds of animals that vet has seen over their practice they suspect at least one has been abused. Saying 17% of Danish pet owners could be abusers is patently absurd and a fundamental misunderstanding of the results of that poll.

    So Good!
I have listened to every episode and I love it! Eli and Diana are so funny together and they make each story so entertaining. You learn things about people throughout history that ordinarily you probably have never heard of. This is probably my favorite podcast of all!

I never stop being entertained! They are so fun and interesting! I love the stories they choose and the quality research that goes into this! Never stop making episodes!!

    Seriously the best
I am absolutely in love with their banter and story-telling style. My mood is instantly lifted every time I queue up an episode. Their slapstick-style approach to humor in combination with a modern approach to social issues is refreshing and hilarious, and I couldn’t be happier to call this my favorite podcast.

    LOVE IT!!
When I first started listening to this show, I thought it was a bit campy, but now it’s one of my favorite shows! I love how Eli and Diana present serious topics in a fun and funny way while still being respectful of them. The show is also well researched. Even if it’s a story you think you know, you’ll learn something new. LOVE the show, guys!!!! 🧡🧡🧡
  • AnnC430
    Love it!
The quirky voice Diana uses cracks me up all the time! They put out the information with wit and always a loving and funny spin! I look forward to every episode! Now if we only a pic of the hosts to put a face to the voices!
  • CarmenIHR
    Delightful!
I love this podcast! I like that it balances out the crazy couples with sweet ones. I’ve learned so much about historical couples (Gouverneur Morris, Dorothy Bonney, and Jackie Robinson episodes were some of my absolute favorites). This podcast relaxes me after a long, difficult day and I can’t help but binge listen. Keep up the good work, guys!!!

    Not Bad
I was skeptical at first but The first episode I listened to (about Maha Vajiralongkorn) was well done and as a Thai person knowing what I Believe to just assume that the hosts are not Thai, did a pretty good job at pronunciations. Only constructive criticism is episodes run a little too long. Great concept though! Kudos to the creators!
  • karate1999
    Smart
I appreciate the ability to look past our antiquated perception and look at women and their roles in society while telling the story. They also look at people of color and how life was different for them. Also, you use the exact right amount of F bombs.
  • Shaorn
    Language
I’m not comfortable with F bombs being dropped . There are many other adjectives and subtitle ways of discussing things without profanity. Clean it up and I’ll come back. For now I’m leaving!

    Ahhhhdorably fun to listen to!
Eli and Diana are interesting and funny and the banter between them could not be more adorable. That opening jingle is the best! I really love this light podcast that’s an escape from the apocalyptic world around us. Great job, guys!!

    Great
Hey love the podcast it’s funny and interesting but you can’t just say the next book in book of dust is out when I can’t find it on audible I searched for like 10 minutes.

    Funny and Informative
The couple in this series do a great job riffing off each other during the episodes. The historical couples they profile are interesting and they explain it all in an enthusiastic and fun fashion.
  • mernaschneider
    Ridiculous Romance is a winner
Episodes are researched in depth and enthusiastically recounted in a most entertaining fashion by a couple who loves what they do
  • EncyclopediaBtch
    Great premise. Needs tweaks.
I love the topics, and the premise of the show. But I don’t love the format. The little “comedy bits” that they do fall flat. I wish they’d just stick to sharing the story.

    Love this podcast!
I love this podcast it is amazing learning and laughing a bunch! It cause me to start listening to another podcast called Criminalia that the first season is about poison this really ties into your first episode about Louis the 14th, because this is the time where poisoning was a huge issue in the French court at the time! Mrs.Fisher might have actually Poisoned the mistress! It was actually common at that time when they got sick their first thought was that they where poison because it was so common. There was actually a big poisoning scandal at this time with Louis 14th time as king hid hid as much as possible with the poisoning! Also I think the last few episodes you have done are horrific and hilarious which is a weird combination. Can wait see what you do next!

    Super fun podcast
I’ve loved binge-listening to this podcast the last two weeks. The hosts are witty, quick, and thoroughly entertaining. I love the unique lens on history through various romances. Diana is particularly funny and I appreciate her humor and take on the various subjects they explore. Keep it up!
  • SaTyCo
    Please keep the politics out!
I really love history & Eli & Deanna are entertaining hosts. After listening to Ben & Noel (Ridiculous History) I had to follow Rid Romance. Sadly after an unwarranted snarky comment by Eli bashing right-wing politics I had to unfollow and won’t be recommending to fellow podcast listeners. I, like many Midwestern people I know, listen to podcasts to escape the divisive news that’s aired right now. Maybe a thought for the future?…. Please keep the political biases out of your show!
  • Jenifer-I-love-Ahsoka
    Here for the speculation!
Please, print “Speculation Station” t-shirts. I am on board! This is my new favorite podcast. I have been listening in every free moment since last week. I will be here for every new episode.

    Such a delight
The stories are great, the tangents are better, and we’re all singing along with the theme. If you’re not singing, you’re a liar.

    IN LOVE 😍
I work completely by myself for my job so I rely on podcasts to get me going through the day. As soon as I found your podcast I fell instantly in love! (Sorry husband) The energy the two of you have as you tell the stories of these ridiculous romances is something wonderful! The two of you must be twin flames! I can not wait for more episodes and highly suggest everyone listen to this!
