    Fun podcast
I always enjoy listening and itā€™s fun how the hosts figure out which movies to watch. They are very literary/analytical so I feel like Iā€™m back in college where the professors always included films on the syllabus. I want to see their take on Company of Wolves! Also, GUYS. I listened to the Howling 2 episode today and as a teacher going into my 24th year teaching middle school THANK U. You made me tear up with what you said about teachers.

Good way to learn about horror
I am not a fan of horror movies, but find the lore within them fascinating. These discussions are a great way to learn that lore and because it goes in a random order it never gets stale. I canā€™t wait till they get to an animated style movie as they have not come close to touching any as of where Iā€™ve listened to.

    a bunch of juveniles
Checked out the Se7en pod and was assaulted by a woman who wouldnā€™t stop yelling and doing terrible impressions and a man who wonā€™t stop whining about how Brad Pitt was ā€œmeanā€ in the film. Wonā€™t be back.

As a welcome to Nightvale fan, as well as a horror fan who happens to be pretty horror squeamish, I love this podcast! Also why is Cecil me if I was 20 years older?

    Instant Hook
Iā€™m typically someone who goes for fiction podcasts, but this one got me hooked. I love the perspectives Cecil and Jeffrey give, which always find ways for me to appreciate the films they cover more.

    Soā€¦ā€¦..
THIS.IS.AMAZING! As a person who wants to watch horror or at least knows what happens, I canā€™t take horror at all.So finding this podcast was great! I mean itā€™s by the night vale people what do u expect! (For those of you who donā€™t know night vale but know gravity falls, just think aboutTad Strange..) LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Chaos Theory two lightning bolts OUT

    A little too political.
I really enjoy the chemistry and the fun you can tell everyone involved is having. The choices of movies are interesting and Iā€™ve enjoyed the breakdown of horror as a genre so that I can begin to appreciate it and even enjoy it. My only complaint is that at times the show gets derailed by political discussion that doesnā€™t really pertain to the movie or goes beyond the scope of what is relevant to the discussion. Itā€™s not that itā€™s offensive or that I donā€™t believe opinions should be expressed but it does lessen my enjoyment of an otherwise very fun show about horror movies.
  • k_scanlon
    Not For Me
Maybe it was my mistake for starting with the early episodes but I was immediately turned off by the political talk. It would be nice to find a podcast about film that doesnā€™t have to interject political views. A lot of us watch/talk movies to get away from that.
  • It's alright; I'm a doctor.
    Turn off noise gate
Some nice discussion, but ruined by the fact that the noise gate on recording software is on. Result is that often the first syllable or word of each person speaking is missing. Please listen to your own podcasts carefully and review. Turn off the auto noise gate.

    Roll the Bones!
I love the chemistry between the main hosts as well as the guests they choose. I too am learning to love horror.

This is the podcast youā€™ve been looking for!
Where do I even start? Iā€™m a fan of Welcome To Nightvale, so when I heard Cecil and Jeffrey also have a horror movie podcast where they have an awesome, random way of picking the movie they watch and the podcast is them talking you through it, itā€™s only natural I immediately downloaded it and binged all 130 something episodesā€”at the timeā€”until I was caught upā€¦and then listened to them againā€¦and listened to them againā€¦and became a Patreon member so I can watch the monthly zoom episodes they do only for Patreon membersā€¦itā€™s bad yā€™all. Lol. This is definitely the best Horror Movie Podcast Iā€™ve ever heard. The format is great. The breakdown is awesome. The occasional guests are knowledgeable and funny. What more can I say? Ooh I know!!! Follow this show now! And to Cecil and Jeffrey: if yā€™all ever need an intern or have any kind of position that needs filling remotely, holler at your boy over here!!!

    New horror fan
Horror has been something Iā€™ve avoided for a while, partly due to squeamishness and partly because I didnā€™t think horror was worthwhile, but this podcast is a great dive into what makes horror great and really helped me appreciate a genre I hadnā€™t really given much thought about.
  • Ednoria
Great for ppl who are horror film averse
I am too much of a scaredy-cat to watch horror movies ā€” I had to sleep with the lights on for a month after watching the Blair Witch Project ā€” but I am fascinated by them. This podcast is perfect for me and it stars two of my favorite podcasters.
  • GriefEater44
    Mostly excellent
This podcast is excellent, bordering on addictive, and I admit to have listened to most episodes twice šŸ˜® The star of the show is Jeffreyā€™s thesis statement which opens each episode. You can tell heā€™s a writer, as these anecdotes are always clever and insightful. Iā€™ve learned so much not just about horror but about film in general from this show. I love the ā€œdiceā€ format for choosing films. I love them poking fun at lovably bad films. I love Jeffreyā€™s & Cecilā€™s long-running chemistry from WTNV. My complaints, tho, have been mentioned by others. Cecil interrupts Jeffrey a lot. He also seems to need to let us know he šŸŒæšŸ”„šŸ’Ø. We get it. Sometimes the guests are great. Sometimes they are overly loud to the point of shouty, or go on Tangents that clog up the run time. And when there are two guests, it often becomes a shouting & one-up joke fest where any actual film critique gets lost under overwhelming noise :/ I was so excited about the Sweeney Todd episode only to shut it up 10 mins in cause it was four people just making fun of musical theatre conventions. Womp womp. (Sarah Maria Griffin, however, is always a gem). Still, I love it. Give it a listen. Try a few episodes. Just keep the above in mind if youā€™re sensitive to interruptions & rambling. 4/5.

For people who read horror movie summaries.
I hate being scared but I loooove to know what happens in horror movies. Iā€™ve been in the habit of reading the Plot section on Wikipedia for several years. This show gives me that and the delightful Jeffrey and Cecil combo too *chefā€™s kiss*
  • Bananah_R
    What a delight
Such a smart funny look at Horror. More episodes with Brie please!
  • Ethan Zuckerman
A highlight of my week, every week.
So damned charming - Cecil and Jeffrey have a wonderful rhythm together and are equally enjoyable when talking about horror gems or films better forgotten. I love watching along with them, but this is my go to comfort podcast when I just want to listen to my smart friends talk. Indispensable.
  • TBA2022
    Perfect for Geriatric Millennials
In the last episode there were allusions to Cobra Commander, Destro, Max Headroom, and Fraggle Rock. 5 stars.
  • crawlingbear
    Would be 5 butā€¦
I truly enjoy this podcast. The guys are intelligent and funny. They paint extremely good pictures of what is going on. The problem is to truly enjoy it it will cost you money. Many of the best movies are only on patroon. They randomly pick movies suggested by their patroon listeners. Who suggest the best movies. If you are not a member you will never hear John Carpenterā€™s The Thing or The Fly, Eraserhead and the list goes on. It is an impressive and growing list of great films you will never hear if you donā€™t pay up. Not really in a position to do that so I will lose out.
  • GojoSatoruIsBestBoi
    So good!
I love that this podcast never takes anything away from the movies. Iā€™m kind of addicted to this show, and what an addiction to have. You guys never fail to disappoint, and I love how you guys go into detail about what happens! Best podcast Iā€™ve even listened to! P.s: itā€™s so good, I canā€™t listen after dark, because it gives me nightmares!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE
This is one of my favorite podcasts of all time. A must listen for any horror fan.

    Entertaining and Unique
The two hosts have an entertaining perspective on the films they review. I just wish they weren't always in complete agreement. But putting that aside, I love this podcast and I give it a big thumbs up. (Word of advice - make sure you watch the film they're discussing before you listen to the show!)
  • Lauren Kalasky
    Love, love, love.
I am having so much fun with this podcast. I love how accessible the movies are and most are streaming for free on platforms like Tubi and Pluto! I love watching and then listening to the commentary and thoughts of the hosts! Like True Crime Obsessed but with horror flicks! 10/10 would recommend!
  • Isjustme_74
    Still enjoying
I am hooked on this and you should be too.

More stop motion horror representation, Please!!
I love this podcast! Would love to see( rolling of the dice permitted) more stop motion horror representationšŸ–¤šŸ–¤! This would include Beetle Juice, Mad God, The Wolf House, OG King Kong, Blood tea Red String, etc šŸ˜!! This podcast has been my go to list of moves to watch this October!
  • ReviewJman
    Very insightful
Iā€™m about eleven episodes in and Iā€™m really enjoying the intelligent pov of a horror fan and someone new to the genre. Also, itā€™s kinda funny listening to the earlier episodes and hearing how prominent talking about Trump kept over taking the show. It really shows how the times affect everything.
  • GWickPress
Very funny and insightful, perfect to listen to with horror lovers
My husband is a big fan of horror films. I like them too, but have trouble watching them. This podcast is perfect for both of us! I really love hearing Joseph and Cecilā€™s perspectives on the different films as writers, actors, and generally creative people.
  • Leonb4
    Fun stuff!
A great casual listen. I havenā€™t seen many of these movies but it doesnā€™t matter. The conversations are always fun!
  • MešŸ˜¶šŸ˜šŸ˜‘
    Awesome!
Iā€™m absolutely terrified of horror movies, but this podcast is amazing. I still havenā€™t watched any of the movies you guys have covered (except Coraline) but Iā€™m thinking of watching one soonā€¦

I never knew this itch could be scratched
This podcast, with two hilarious and insightful hosts (and great guest hosts), totally satisfies my desire to ā€œseeā€ horror movies, just with my ears. I have long read summaries/spoilers for horror movies with great relish. The genre has so many interesting (and silly) things to say but I have nightmares for weeks after even mild horror films. Thank you Cecil and Jefferey for expanding my knowledge of horror without torturing myself, itā€™s exactly the podcast Iā€™ve always wanted!
  • chaoticenergycat
    Yes yes and yes please
I love this podcast so much, as a horror obsessive itā€™s made me revisit movies I havenā€™t seen in so long and start breaking them down on a critical level, as well as discovering horror movies I wouldnā€™t have watched on my own. Iā€™ve looked deeper into horror movies than I would have before and rewatching 30 Days of Night for its respective episode was a delight. I noticed new things and enjoyed the movie all over again during the discussion. Fantastic

This pod got me to watch a horror movie!
Iā€™m squeamish but have always been fascinated by horror. This podcast is thoughtful, funny, and really helpful for gauging ā€œsafeā€ movies. I watched House (Hausu) based on its episode and loved it!
  • fernfriend
starter podcast for the horror curious
I really donā€™t like horror movies (canā€™t even watch the trailers) but I love this smart, funny, thoughtful and genuine podcast. The hosts bring their writer/actor/storytellerā€™s perspectives to the conversation, and they cover a wide range of movies: kitsch, classic, cult, blockbuster, etc

Great discussions of the films and interesting guests. ā€œThe Eyes of Laura Marsā€ episode with all the background information that Noah Fecks provided was fascinating.

Just found you guys and love it.

    Great Podcast!
Happy I recently found these guys! As someone who loves movies in general, and the horror genre in particular, I find their reviews both thought provoking and fun. Great content!

    So much fun!!
As someone who rarely watches movies on their free time but loves horror, this is the podcast for me! I love hearing my boys Jeffery and Cecil talk about the movies and they are so funny. I end up recording parts of the podcast as a screen recording just so I can have the clip of something funny theyā€™ve said šŸ˜‚ this pod is the best!
  • RaphaelAdidas
    I like it, but...
Loses a star for the guest episodes. When itā€™s just Cecil and Jeffrey the conversation is usually pretty insightful. When they have guests it just becomes a joke-fest, usually with Cecil over-trying to make sure the guests donā€™t one up him.
  • Gcmaya
Cecil and Jeffrey do a podcast
This podcast is the answer to a question I never asked. The fulfillment of a dream I didnā€™t know I had. The breakfast bagel I did not order, and yet, here it is in front of me and it is exactly what I needed at 10:15 am. Cecil and Jeffrey do a HORROR podcast. I am dead and floating among the stars. What a great day.
  • allhailtheglowcloud
    Brilliant, funny and insightful ā¤ļø
I have zero critiques, Jeffrey and Cecil have single handedly provided humor and insight into a genre I hold so dear. Iā€™m a horror purist and a huge nightvale fan, this podcast has definitely helped me limp through 2020 and early 2021 lol
  • Steve Zombie1390
    New favorite podcast
Long time listener of WTNV so I heard Jeffery advertise for this show. I was like ā€œI like horror, so letā€™s check it outā€. My first episode was Southbound, a film about have not seen. But the two of them throughly describe the film (and each film) and deep dives into cinematography, story analysis and the exoteric relationship between the film and society. Plus there are great rifts and jokes.
  • ChrisDo13
    A surprise favorite
So recently Iā€™ve been getting into horror movies and checking all my boxes on big and small classics since other podcasts of horror have been winding down(tales from the gas station and video palace). Heard of this podcast after listening to good morning night vale and have to say, after just 1 podcast Iā€™m hooked and will be returning after watching more movies.
  • Dra Ngipon
    Love it
Because I probably wonā€™t watch some of these, I quite enjoy listening to them slam through plot, occasionally giving credit where theyā€™ve been impressed, but mostly make silly jokes about inconsistencies and over-blown scenery-chewing.
  • Mxsandy12
    Perfect horror podcast!
Jeffrey and Cecil know their stuff. Also makes the horror genre possible for a scaredy-cat like me. They use fun personal antidotes and are excellent story tellers. Great banter, profound insights and a true joy to listen to!
