Love this podcast so hard!!!! Bring back to apple!!!!
Climate change is super scary and we seem doomed. This FACT drove me to antidepressants, even with the doom and gloom of this topic the podcast is pretty uplifting, thanks guys! I love it! Bring it back to apple!!!!

    bring it back
what’s with the spotify exclusivity? how to save a planet should be a conversation for everyone!!! such a weird silly move/contract obligation/ or whatever… i don’t use spotify much and therefore haven’t listened lately…. bring it back to everywhere, people need to hear these delightful conversations!

The lowest bummer factor in a bummer-ful area
I normally avoid sustainability-related podcasts, because I work in this area, and I only need so much bummer, but this one has really stuck for me. Upbeat without sugar-coating.

    I can’t deny the truth
Depression and anxiety and your emotions will always take you over. Let this sink in. I don’t know what’s sadder: this is the truth or maybe that half the people I told deny it. P.S. this was just fun to write

Please bring back to Apple Podcasts
Excellent episodes. I miss it since you switched to Spotify! Please bring it back to Apple Podcasts.

Amazing show - sad to see it go!
I love this podcast - but I’m sad to see it removed from Apple podcasts. I don’t really use Spotify :(

    Great show!
The hosts are magnificent and the topics are groundbreaking. I share the one on talking with family about climate with everybody I know.

    New episodes on Spotify
If you're wondering where all the newest episodes are, head over to Spotify. They're no longer updating on Apple Podcast.

    Broken promises
Alex promised when Gimlet was acquired by Spotify that some new podcasts would be made exclusive to Spotify, but open podcasts made by Gimlet would remain so. Sadly, it wasn't true.

    Bait and Switch
If I’d known ahead of time this would one day require installing an app with trackers to listen to I never would have started listening to this otherwise wonderful podcast.

    Expect much more
Low science, low imagination, low reporting on new breakthroughs in renewable energy and carbon capture, low signal to noise. 4 episodes. As an Alex Blumburg fan, I had high hopes and about as disappointed as possible. Skip it.

    Great Until Anti-Consumer Spotify Only
Energy engineer and fellow climate science geek here. This was one of my favorite shows. My 9 year old and I listened every week. I even contacted Climate Friendly Supermarkets to have them update their database to reflect my local Coop store with CO2-based green refrigerant which wasn’t listed, after listening to the refrigerants episode. Alex Blumberg and scientist Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson are awesome. HOWEVER, I don’t support the anti-consumer choice of being forced to use Spotify, and to be tracked. I happily pay for multiple subscriptions-based podcasts which can remain on Apple Podcasts. Please reconsider this choice which appears to be solely based on generating revenue when other good alternatives also exist. I’d love to Keep listening and even supporting financially, however I won’t use Spotify.

I don’t feel as hopeless as I did a week ago
My daughter sent me your podcast and I began listening on my drive to Minnesota and back. This podcast has given great information about the challenges we face but also provides solutions and ideas so I can finally feel i can make a difference. Thk u.

So sad they are switching to Spotify.
Great podcast, too bad I hate Spotify so much I won’t know how to save a planet after they move. It was fun while it lasted.
  • caity mac
    I’m mad
I like this podcast but I’m not changing my entire podcast listening habit to follow one podcast to Spotify, so this will be my last episode. I hate when companies pull these kind of monopoly moves, I’ll never listen to any podcasts on Spotify.

    Too many “encore” episodes
This show started out great. Now they constantly post episodes from other podcasts and re-post old episodes instead of making new content. If I wanted to listen to other podcasts, I would subscribe to them. If I wanted to hear an episode again, I could just replay it from the feed. This show has become so lazy, I’m no longer interested in following it anymore. Unsubscribed.
  • Nissarocks
    Great podcast but…
Why so many encore episodes?? Great podcast otherwise, I just hope you guys would make more new episodes.
  • peytonolivia100
    Why Spotify? Why replays?
ANOTHER replay? Your show isn’t even a year old. I used to LOVE this show, but lately it’s been all replays of old episodes and episodes of other shows. That’s lazy. Replaying old episodes only works if you have hundreds of episodes and you’re choosing one from years ago that most new followers can’t have heard or scrolled to. Also, Spotify’s podcast player is the worst. It is not intuitive at all and I’m not going to juggle podcasts on two players, so I won’t be moving to listen to this show on Spotify. I’m sad that it’s gone downhill so quickly, but since it has, I’m definitely not going to move, no matter how much they pay you to have exclusive rights to publish your podcast.

    How to Save a Podcast
Boo! I wish this wasn’t moving exclusively to Spotify; I’ll have to listen to as many episodes here as possible before then, as I don’t plan to switch my podcast app. That said, I have signed up for the newsletter. Dr. Ayana and Alex have great chemistry, and have often made me laugh out loud with their play. Episodes are relevant and timely, and full of great revelations (for me, anyway). Room for improvement is in the encore episodes, which don’t contribute much in addition to the original episode. However, this podcast has inspired me so much so that I’ve refocused my graduate studies to incorporate conveying environmental risk, in addition to health risk. Thanks for the hard work, HTSAP Team.
  • hiiamanian
    Great but…
This is a great podcast that looks at action on climate change in a more hopeful light and made me feel less hopeless and helpless. But it’s moving to Spotify exclusively soon so probably not worth getting into at this point.
  • listener_kc
    Why Spotify?
Good, relevant, educated podcast overall. However, I’m surprised that they (and Gimlet in general) would choose Spotify as their host if they were truly serious about reducing human impacts to climate change. Spotify has a “D” rating on the Click Clean report, one of the worst on the report for streaming services. I instead use Apple (with an “A” rating) and make sure to download the episode rather than streaming it. I hope they cover this in a future episode- the podcast “IRL” had a really good show about this topic, but with all the streaming happening it needs more widespread coverage. I am knocking off one star for choosing Spotify. Edit: I’m knocking off another star for moving exclusively to Spotify. I am not going to add another app for podcasts, and especially not for this one. It’s an okay podcast, but not worth Spotifying. See ya, HTSAP. It’s been real.

    Hit or Miss
I have listened to this show since the very beginning and it has gradually become disappointing. I don’t mind that they promote other podcast that relate to the subject of climate change but it has become very frequent and a bit off topic of ‘saving the planet’. In addition, they have made “encore” episodes which makes so no sense, because we can obviously scroll down the episode list. There is no need to replay the exact same episode. I understand Dr. Ayana is a busy woman, she’s great and intelligent. However, I personally believe Kendra should take over since she has more time and gives thorough reports. Lastly, they are limiting their audience to Spotify only which is a bummer but, cant say i’ll miss it.

    Decreasing the impact
I have been listening to this podcast since the beginning and have emailed in on topics, called my representatives, and passed on what I’ve learned to the people around me. One of the things they talk about is spreading word and generating conversations. However, with the move to Spotify, they will be eliminating so many channels to get the message out. Just doesn’t make sense. Hope to see a change of heart but seems like they’ve cracked down.

Won’t be forced to use Spotify
Long time listener to Gimlet and Alex. Not going to download Spotify as its not where I listen to podcasts..the whole concept of podcasts was about a medium where you were not forcing people to use a specific platform. Sadly Alex who once believed in this same concept as well

    Spotify? Goodbye!
I have enjoyed this podcast (though I listen to only the episodes with topics that interest me, not all of them), so I am sorry to learn it will soon be available only on Spotify. I don’t want to have to keep up with two different podcast apps, and I definitely don’t want to give Spotify my email address so they can spam me with ads. I assume all the Gimlet podcasts will move to Spotify; if so, goodbye Gimlet!

    Thank You <3
Thank You • Thank You • Thank You Dr. Johnson for being you, being honest about your struggle with hope (me too!) and giving us a reason TO hope: because you’re here. I absolutely devoured your discussion with Dr. Goodall (another hero of mine) and look forward to leaning in to my passion and making this bigger than “me” & creating larger changes for climate change, our natural environment, and the oneness that is our planet.

    A lifeline
I began listening to this podcast after a friend/ zero waste entrepreneur shared the individual impact episode. It has really done a lot for me to move from alarm and despair to being informed and know what I can do and what policies we need to promote.

    Echo of others
Really enjoy this podcast. I look forward to many Gimlet shows. I’m sorry but I’m not going to download Spotify to listen. Hopefully this along with other reviews will get you to change your mind. Even if I did download the app I won’t remember to open the app much less listen. As a truck driver I listen to a lot of podcasts, I really hope Gimlet doesn’t go all to Spotify.

    Why Spotify
I will never listen again if you actually switch I would un follow EVERYTHING

    Learning new things
Lots of different people out there working towards helping the climate crisis and humans in general that I didn’t know about.

Wants to be good, but not
They delete reviews. I really thought I’d like this podcast and did at first. But the pretentiousness of these two hosts and their complicity in overlooking or undermining so many aspects of concepts that serious need to be addressed is reason enough to stop listening. Furthermore, this podcast serves mostly to promote other podcasts from this company, which has a horrible record for treating employees well. Half the episodes are not even their own, and even for those that are one of the hosts isn’t even around often. And now they just replay “old” episodes from just a few months ago and are leaving iTunes. Good riddance

Child labor isn't a big problem apparently
Their electric cars episode was incredibly gross. They gloss over forced child labor as if it was a minor inconvenience
  • AstralBeing2493
    Well… goodbye
I have been listening to this podcast since the very first episode. And just like I had to say goodbye to Joe Rogan I also say goodbye to you. I refuse to use Spotify and never will. You are going to lose so many listeners just like Joe did. And that fine for him but with a show like HTSAP and their mission it’s incredibly moronic to limit your viewing audience to one platform. You should change you title to “how a few people on Spotify get together and daydream about solutions and have no impact” 👍

    Today I learned…
So grateful that this podcast makes so much information on climate change/policy so accessible. I learn something new every episode. Thank you!

Whoa. This is a good podcast. Everyone should listen to it.
    Can’t really say much more.

    Thank you!
So happy this exists. Most climate talk is so pessimistic that it makes me not want to think about it at all. Thank you for rounding up these empowering ideas for positive change.

    What about the rural people
Just finished the episode on electric vehicles. I need my 3/4 pickup for supplies and to transport my horses & other critters. So far you have covered small scale and/or urban solutions. How about branching out to where the rural minorities live. Looking foreword to a broader view. That is my challenge to you.

    Practical and accessible
I heard Dr. Johnson speak today and was so impressed by her honest and insightful way of communicating that I had to check out the podcast. I am loving it so far.

    Great Teaching Resource
Informative and engaging. I’ll be sharing and discussing episodes with my students in the fall

    Love this show!!!!
Found Dr. Ayana Johnson from her interview on the Karen Hunter show and have been following her and this podcast ever since. My favorite episode this far is what can the climate change industry learn from Black Lives Matter. That episode really helped me round out plans for my own activism. Don’t ever cancel this show please!!!!!!

The Most Fun I’ve Had Talking Climate
This show is such a fun and effective way to not only learn about climate issues, but to also share that knowledge with others and take action!
  • 364M
    A rare and compelling gem
This series is masterful at combining facts and complicated information in a compelling and interesting conversational way. They have fun, do great interviews, provide actionability, and hope on topics that might otherwise be overwhelming. I wish this were required listening for all humans.

    Pseudo science
This used to be an excellent podcast, now they guest share pseudo science about quantum entanglement and heart medicine. Disappointing.

Climate change content that won’t stress you out too much
Finding this podcast was a highlight of 2020. If you struggle with climate dread and want to find information that is realistic, yet hopeful, this podcast is for you. If you want to find accessible ways to take action on climate change, this podcast is for you.

    Leftist Propaganda
If I could give this zero stars, I would wholeheartedly do that. Climate change is fake and getting rid of fossil fuels just gets rid of jobs and creates extremely expensive and unnecessary climate projects. I can’t believe how much people believe these lies. President Biden isn’t a Catholic at all, ( he was never was one anyway), his true religion is the worship of the earth and he will do anything to follow that religion, even if it means ridding the country of valuable resources. And here’s another interesting fact, electric cars actually give off the same amount of emissions as gasoline cars do. This comes from their batteries, which are heavy and require trucks to carry their load, and then where do you put these batteries? You throw them away, that just creates more waste. Besides, does anyone know how much money it would take to create a “clean environment”. Trillions of dollars will be spent increasing the national debt ten fold. That’s what happens when you let a incapable, dementia ridden, communist steal the election. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, whatsoever, the real conspiracy theorist you’ll seek is John Kerry, who tells the largest and fattest lies you’ll ever hear. Our young children deserve to be taught real principles about the nation’s constitution rather then this environmental garbage that’s being taught. That’s the real deal.
  • Saltman52
    Excellent and needed podcast
This show is warm in spirit and large in scope. The two hosts have great personas for making difficult information accessible while not making people feel talked down to. My only quibbles, and they are minor, are that Dr. Johnson sounds a bit like a teenager, which she obviously is not, and that sometimes they spend a little too much time shooting the breeze.
  • scvngr1
    Thank you!
I have two kids, and I'm so appreciative of this podcast for providing a positive, actionable approach to climate change.
  • 🐌🐋
    Fantastic, non-depressing climate podcast
This podcast is an environmental one I actually look forward to listening to. Obviously all the topics are heavy, but they’re approached with action-items, interest, and a lightness that makes me feel inspired and hopeful for our planet. More so, I feel a little more prepared for what I, using my own strengths, can do to help. Woot woot for good policy!
