The Journal, despite its heinous owner, continues to produce thoughtful commentary and perspectives on important economic issues. Don’t always agree with their perspective, but that’s why I listen.

Listening the Knutson and Ball snidely mock the current administration is a pass. Better options for that kind of podcast.

I stopped listening to this podcast. Unfortunately, the main presenter Kate, has decided to emulate the vocal presentation style of Michael Barbaro (The Daily). It’s obnoxious. “I. Want to ask. You. What is the result….” I literally cannot listen to it. Unfortunate, because like much of the WSJ reporting, it’s very good. And no, it’s not misogyny. I will not listen to Michael Barbaro either. He’s just weird and creepy. Update-tried listening again. Same issue with presentation and content has gone downhill. No compelling reason to spend 20 minutes on this.

I used to enjoy the podcast however since the election, it’s just become another mainstream left leaning podcast. You’ve lost another listener.

WSJ The Journal is one of only two podcasts to which I listen. Always great stories - super opportunity to learn - and in less than 25 minutes. Thanks for the mini lessons.

This podcast should be a solidly conservative. Instead, it is just the opposite! It’s hard for me to fathom that this podcast is even remotely related to the WSJ that I once knew, but then again the WSJ is no better than any other mainstream media publication today. So sad.

I like your show very much, but the show about misrepresentation of the lawyers in the sexual harassment case was a weak argument, how naive to think lawyers are in business to make money.

I love the continuity of this well-produced reporting. WSJ’s The Journal relies on WSJ journalist’s excellent reporting and opinion. This has been so long before generative AI emerged. I know because I have been listening for several years. To listeners frustrated by bias, take note: WSJ will cover the events that most affect their readers and the nation generally. Politicians and leaders on the left and right act in ways that demand coverage. If listeners find reporting on President Trump pervasive, considered that the President Trump chooses to set up news conferences. There is little about his political life that should lead Americans to think that he doesn’t want their attention. All news organizations, including WSJ, have columnists who write opinions that are sympathetic with a generally-conservative viewpoint or align with generally-liberal values. The most reputable news organizations will carefully demarcate for readers—often in unmistakable ways—what content constitutes fact-reporting and what content is published as opinion. Those that are misleading do the opposite. Most TV and podcasts, though not all, are opinion pieces but they rely on fact-reporting. And if you can’t handle listening to a different opinion because it’s presented in an offensive manner, fine. But if you can’t handle listening to a different opinion because it’s different, then you’ve got some work to do.

Between Ryan and Kate as hosts you might as well call the podcast CNN 2.0 - We want you to know we hate Donald trump and aren’t even going to give him a chance. I used to love the journal. I went to the podcast for a fair, balanced take on all things business, global topics, and more recently politics. It feels clear the journal podcast is now a hard left leaning podcast on all takes. It makes me sad because it has hard to find a balanced take this day and age with a majority of media supporting the left heavily. Feels the only podcasts I can rely on for a balanced take on things are podcasts like “All In”.

Used to love this podcast but it’s unbearably one sided lately and all the stories are about Trump & Musk. Miss when I’d actually learn from this podcast & be able to share insightful things with others. Not anymore.

I used to think WSJ kind of still had some credibility - But sadly, no. TDS all the way. How can you categorically say tariffs cause inflation? Did you go to the American Samoa school of Economics? If you tariff Japanese cars, but not American or Korean or European, etc. - Can you still categorically say inflation will occur? Are you a high-school newspaper? TDS all the way. Editors, do your job and fire the hosts!

Love the topics and the hosts. However, often times when discussing a topic I feel like we’re given only one side of a story. Especially if it is a political topic. Too often we hear most responses from one side of the aisle.

People have to stop complaining that it’s too left leaning. TBH they’re neutral and you don’t have to listen if you don’t like it. You don’t have to give them bad reviews. Great podcast though.

In the entire course of this piece, even in the section dealing specifically with energy, no mention of the country’s suicidal mistake to de-nuclearize its energy grid, opting instead for wind, solar and coal. This has been a disaster for industry: high costs and energy shortages; it’s tantamount to de-industrialization. No amount of government propping up will correct such a core disability.

Have grown incredibly tired of the left of center reporting on this podcast. The tone and angle is consistently left with opposing viewpoints rarely provided. I just listened to my last episode - goodbye.

Enjoy listening to this podcast. It's important that we hear about US policies and how changes to them affects people for better or worse. Sometimes hard to hear the negative effects but necessary. I like that the hosts are neutral.

A uneven approach to evaluating the new administration just 5 days in. The last opinions were full of inaccurate information yet stated as facts. Young reporters not living the experience yet report that they know it as fact. Try dialing closer to the truth and less opinion. WSJ hiding behind their left of center bias.

Ryan & Kate are excellent hosts and I appreciate business-focused stories from (what I would consider) a center-left perspective. But at the end of the day, it’s still owned by WSJ & infamous parent company, News Corp. and it often shows in the substantive focus of this podcast. When purportedly centrist media outlets like The Journal platform personalities like Ben Shapiro, co-founder of the Daily Wire and textbook definition of Click-Bait Reporting, as the new image for political civility…I find it hard to believe that nobody involved in this show’s reporting or production considered that the decision to position Shapiro as a reasonable, political parallel to some former DC Democrat with a legal stories podcast, is an active decision to help push the political center further & further to the right

Wow. I’m astounded News Corp allowed Chip Cutter to repeat the “fine people” hoax at 4:38 in the 1/17 broadcast. Does he think we’re stupid? (Or is he stupid?) This really changes my opinion on this podcast. Shame on the producers for allowing this kind of scurrilous reporting.

This podcast literally Lies as a common refrain. When Joe Rogan listened to the actual speech by Trump when he spoke of Charlottesville he declared the main stream media gross & not worthy of trust. You would think after that Lie by media outlets was debunked as pure Leftist Marxist Democrat party propaganda they would try to step away from the Lie but The Journal is still regurgitating that vile Lie as it did on its Jan 17th 2025 podcast at the 4:22 mark. Wannabe Marxist fake intellectuals like Chip Cutter & Kate Linebaugh ARE the reason America no longer trusts mainstream media & had made legacy media the enemy of the people. There are A LOT of terrible voices in podcasting, but somehow the lady that was interviewed on the 1/6/25 episode about Netflix changing their leave policy (Jessica Toonkel) ihas what is officially the WORST voice in history. Jessica Toonkel, if you read this, please fix your voice. There is absolutely no reason for it. Just talk like a semi-normal person. You have to know you’re doing it, so stop. Can you imagine sitting in an office and hearing that voice all day? I’d have to sue my employer for abusive workplace conditions. Zero stars.

The topics are interesting, but I had to stop listening to this show because of the annoying background music and other weird sounds that they play while speakers are talking.

The stories told are always interesting with good journalism and reporting. The show does a good job on staying neutral on political topics while bringing the facts.

I expect serious, high quality, unbiased reporting and content from the WSJ. After listening to a number of episodes from The Journal (~8), which seems like a reasonable sample size, I’m disappointed to say that’s not what I’ve found in The Journal. Here’s what what I’ve heard: - Surface-level reporting of information easily available via other formats (like the websites of any news outlet). Why tell me information I can easily glean from headlines and other outlets? That makes sense where needed to provide context but should then be followed by something deeper. Listening to this show is like attending a seater dinner where only appetizers are served. - Hosts and guests seem to lack gravitas and depth of knowledge and are sometimes cavalier. - Hosts and guests sometimes speculate about states of mind and intentions of their subjects. I like analysis and am fine with such speculation, but it should be clear that its opinion and should be backed up by facts. Not the case in some instances. - Hosts and guests seem left leaning. Matt Gaetz and Pam Bondi were compared as nominees for attorney general with hardly any mention of the dramatic differences between them. Pam served as Florida AG for years, but that qualification was unmentioned (I think). Also, the guest’s commentary about Pam suggested an almost robotic allegiance to and willingness to execute the wishes of Trump. Political reporter Molly Ball also seems left leaning. I hate to be writing a review like this for a program I am inclined to like and to give the benefit of the doubt.

I used to enjoy listening to the Journal - with the reporting now focused on politics over business and money, I find myself simply tuning out and looking elsewhere. As of late, the programming is not entertaining or informative.

It is a shame when even a Wall Street Journal sponsored podcast cannot provide news without a liberal bias. While there are quality episodes, I want news and information and not this type of slant. It is a kinder, gentler version of liberal opinion pieces than most other main stream media - but liberal shaped opinion (at times even clearly at odds with facts) just the same. As a longtime WSJ reader, I am sorry to leave and unfollow.

This is normally one of my favorite podcasts, but the coverage around elections has diverted from the focus of the podcast. I would like to see more stories about the business world rather than political coverage. If I wanted to listen to political coverage, I have numerous other options, but this podcast was unique in it’s focus on companies and business stories overall. I will rate again once the political coverage subsides.

Their political coverage is basically an opinion and it is wildly inaccurate, they are so liberal that they just can’t get past themselves.

It is very pleasing to hear that your daily attempt to bias the American voter toward the Democrats is over! I hope this is wake up call to the WSJ, ABC, NBC, CBS and NYT that your control and influence of the American people is over. We are smart enough to find unbiased, balanced, legitimate news sources who do not have an agenda! Begin providing legitimate journalism or be forgotten! Also happy to see that Molly Ball has to be the one reporting this after she inundated us with hack journalism all along the way with a Harris agenda.

I stopped listening to the podcast because of the background music while someone is speaking ! I decided to give this podcast another try but STILL does it! Please try listening to the podcast with your eyes closed and you will realize how obnoxious and annoying the background music is!! :(

This would be my favorite podcast but adding background music while listening to the report is very distracting. If the reporting is top notch, music should not be necessary. There is so much multitasking attempted these days contributing to short attention spans. If I want to listen to music, I will choose my genre and artists. If I want serious stories, I don’t want music disrupting listening to the orator. WSJ can and should do better.

I’m speaking of this program’s occasional deep dives on newsworthy topics over several episodes, like the one I just listened to: The Missing Minister.
