    wi gerrymeanderin epi
wi is my State. these people fighting for us to end or stabilize gerrymandering in WI need to get the word out on a regular basis. i realize that was an old podcast epi i just listened to but that is a huge problem n WI. no dissemination of info to all of the State. no change is ever going to come if those fighting don’t get the word out to not just large cities which i am n madison and hear very little about the fight actually but you have to get those small towns involved. republicans cheat to win. democrats need to push the truth out there be it via social media, email campaigns, hard copy mailers, dems are bad at this. we are the worst fighters ever.

    Great episode on Gerrymandering
One of the biggest problems in American Democracy explained perfectly. Simple to understand and with great detail.

One of the best political science mini series
This is arguably one of the most well-thought-out mini series podcast I have ever listened to. Fabulous storytelling which keeps you fixated on the series; clear-cut analysis which enables you to grasp the nexus of the problem fast; roadmaps being laid out have spurred my thought experiments many times and even hands-on trials.

Great treatment of a vital topic
You were hoping for simple answers to fixing the American political landscape? This introductory but sophisticated treatment of the gerrymandering issue may dash your hopes, but it will leave you thinking hard about one of the most critical, semi-hidden issues in our national politics today. Bravo!

    Shows the nuance
This series shows the nuance of the gerrymandering discussion, the difficulty in even defining gerrymandering, the voices in the discussion, and attempts to solve it.
  • 3rd shift Dan
Entertaining show on a topic that some (not me) may find boring.
Dives pretty deeply into a complex and extremely important topic while staying entertaining. Importantly, it doesn’t give one side a pass. It looks at gerrymandering as a bipartisan problem.

    Illuminating and easy to follow!
A great mix of high level analysis and on-the-ground perspective - it provides incredible insight into an extremely complicated and relevant issue!

    Though Provoking
I thought this was a relatively simple issue and this short set of podcasts made me realize how wrong I was. While I still despise the intentional bad behavior in Wisconsin, getting to something that is “right” is not so easy. Well done!

    Complicated topic well explored
I have been a 538 listener for about a year and have found this series to be absolutely outstanding. Very well researched, explored and presented. The topic is not as clear cut as I thought and I appreciated their very deep dive into the nuances, while still making this accessible. I personally think every American should listen to this - there are issues, but no easy answers either. Thanks 538 for an outstanding piece of reporting. Appreciate their different focus than the typical talking heads - I.e., the data/nerd bent, but that’s also a very needed and welcome viewpoint (as a nerd myself, I sometimes have had it with NPR and other news outlets).

    So much nuance
I thought I knew where I stood with gerrymandering, but this series took such a multifaceted look at the issue that I’ve had to completely rethink my position. Excellent reporting and analysis.

    Awesome
I’ve been interested in the topic gerrymandering for a while now, so when I heard 538 would be making a podcast series about it, I was so excited. This podcast surpassed my expectations. It gives both sides of the story, and I learned so much about such a complicated and multi-faceted topic in just 6 episodes. This is definitely a podcast every voter in the US should listen to.

    Educational and fascinating
Gerrymandering is often in the news, but seldom are the approaches to fixing it discussed in a comprehensive manner. Very well done. The Facebook group adds greatly...

    In-depth and engaging
This podcast takes a difficult and complicated topic and makes it accessible without softening its edges.

    Great, makes you think
Well done, as all 538 podcasts are. You go into it with certain feelings about gerrymandering, but 538 does a great job re-examining issues and forcing you to re-think your preconceived notions.

    Phenomenal
Awesome podcast- one of my favorite ever!

Another great podcast on an important topic
538 does a terrific job bringing this issue to life and making it fascinating. A must listen for anyone who cares about our democracy.

    Excellent Podcast
I took several entire classes about redistricting in college, yet I learned more from these six episodes than I did in two years of coursework. I wish they could do more.
  • Important Subject
    Essential listening
Fascinating, informative and thought-provoking. I learned so much about something I thought I already understood. From the unintended consequences resulting from the Voting Rights Act, to the trade-offs between competitive districts vs majority minority districts - this podcast opened my eyes to all kinds of issues on what I now know is a very complicated subject. Very well researched, edited and executed. Thank you, 538!

    Fantastic!
This is, by far, the best discussion of gerrymandering that I've seen, heard, or read. It's balanced, thorough, thoughtful and does an excellent job of looking at the history, abuses, and legitimate complexities in drawing districts, as well as examining a number of approaches to addressing those abuses and complexities. Highly recommended!

Understanding Gerrymandering as more than a buzz word
I loved this series. It really helps you understand the complexities in gerrymandering, and see the efforts various states have put forth to try to solve the problem (to varying degrees of success)

    Required “reading” for electoral politics
Superb coverage, really digging deep into an unexpectedly deep topic. Hits issues and points of view I had never considered, with landmark moments in redistricting as a backdrop. Almost anyone is sure to be exposed to new perspectives on gerrymandering and redistricting rules and why it’s not a simple a problem to “solve.”
  • aelira_v
    SO phenomenal
really broke down an extensive, complicated issue with great interviews and storytelling. so many competing interests - no wonder we’re just getting around to (maybe?) fixing it now. also Galen is pretty cute but unfortunately you can’t see his face
  • Bmasar
    Stupendous content
This point is brought up in the final episode, but it’s en vogue right now to say, “we need to put an end to gerrymandering” and think it’s that simple. As this series explains, gerrymandering is far more complicated and doesn’t just affect one party. This podcast is thought-provoking and enlightening and proves there are no easy solutions to complicated questions.

The type of journalism desperately needed
I loved this podcast. Problems like gerrymandering are complex, and many of my assumptions about the issue were challenged. Can’t wait to hear the next topic this crew tackles.

    A “must listen” podcast
A great miniseries covering all of the nuances and influences behind how our legislative districts are drawn.
  • crookedsquare
    Explains complexity
Before I listened I assumed I knew everything there is about gerrymandering. I believed it was bad, it was preventable, and it was an easy thing to fix. This podcast explores the many ways I was mistaken. I left with an entirely deeper understanding, and I feel much more informed. L

    Exceptional
As someone who works full-time for an organization committed to solving the problems of our broken democracy, including gerrymandering, I can say that this podcast easily provided the most thorough, digestable, and authoritative exploration of the topic that I've yet encountered. Highly recomended.

Well beyond what you think about gerrymandering
The series does a fantastic job of explaining the challenges of redistricting and the thorny issues that are faced in the process. It’s way beyond just trying to edge out the other party, and this pod does a great job of explaining the details.
