Really beautifully done! It never spends so much time on the detail details of the crime for shock value, but it gives a voice to all the people whose lives were changed. So many of these kinds of stories talk about who was killed why the person did it what they were sentenced, and it just uses the wounded as an afterthought.. But here we get to spend significant time with the wounded and just see what it’s like to be a victim of this type of crime. And it was also funny the way they hijacked any and circumvented any possible stupid criticism from dumb conservatives by making it clear that most of the victims have gun violence don’t even hate guns and they’re not even against the second amendment.

Thank you for telling the part of the story that no one ever tells. In order to solve, or lessen gun violence we need to examine all aspects. This is the #1 biggest reason we need better gun control. These devastating, life altering stories should pull on the heartstrings. I have always been an advocate for better gun laws but the moment that really got me was Sandy Hook. After that happened and absolutely nothing was done about gun control, Americans decided it was ok that these children were shot up in an elementary school. We will just pray for the families and blame mental illness and spread conspiracy theories and do nothing. So those are my thoughts. Thank you again for doing this, it is very important.

Interesting perspective on gun violence. I honestly would listen to Amber Hunt narrate the Declaration of Independence. She is the Gold Standard of podcast narrators. Very well done all around.

The reporting is great, but it’s meant for writing not podcast. The content is fantastic, I love it. BUT the narrators voice is so distracting. It sounds like there’s a huge ball of phlegm in her throat...all the time. It’s like nails on a chalk board

I heard of this podcast while listening to Accused, and it’s fantastic. I had a hard time getting used to Amanda’s voice, but now after listening to this and Accused, I am a huge fan of her. She is a great writer and allows the survivors to tell their stories in a way that is personable and true. The editing is great as well. A must listen!

I subscribed to this podcast series when it first came out (months ago, I believe) However, because it wasn’t time sensitive (current news/holiday related), I let it sit in my podcast library until yesterday. My normal morning radio show is on vacation, so I thought I’d go ahead and listen to an episode or two of this. Ended up listening to every single episode yesterday. The stories are gripping, emotional, interesting, and informative. Hearing people with different backgrounds and life situations was humbling. It can happen to literally anyone. Excellent podcast.

As a 2A advocate and supporter, I found this to be an awesome and eye opening pod. Firearms are powerful tools and we should never take that lightly. The stories you share are sobering reminders of this.

I never knew how important it was to hear a story that relates to mine until episode one. Though I wasn’t shot, the rest rang so close to home and moved me and made me feel like I’m not so alone. This podcast is fantastic, as is everything I’ve heard Amber do.

I really loved Accused but this is beautiful and horrifying. Madeleine Barren is a great story teller and these are stories that desperately need to be told. Maybe someday the world will change and gun violence will be a thing of the past.

I truly look forward to hearing more episodes. It was such a nice Change to hear the human factor. What violence really does to someone rather than sensationalizing what was the Trumatic event. These are the real stories that need to be told. So thank you.

Great podcast. So informative. My cousin was at the Las Vegas shooting she made it out alive and not hurt but the effects on her mind are forever. I have shared this with her.
