sensible14uFirst time listener on the last showMy timing couldn’t be worse… I found the first podcast I’ve fallen in love with on the very last show. I was immediately attracted to your last episode when I say your guest Brian Sims, whom I’ve followed for years. Your show gave me a whole new perspective of Brian and how Trump’s recent win will affect marriage equality. His insights really sent shivers through my heart as the sentiments he express mirrored mine exactly. It is scary to think of what is going to happen to gays and the entire LGBTQ+ community in this country as we reverse all the things we fought so hard for. And, now having to watch as they are chipped away with such malice, cruelty, and ignorance. I especially liked how you covered the way people who voted for Trump feel so vindicated and disassociated with their actions that they believe we shouldn’t let politics come between friendships. Cudo’s for Brian when he says friend is a verb and that (paraphrasing here)… you may like me as a friend, but do not value the fundamental rights that my husband and I will lose along with many other rights of the glbtq+ community… so you are not the friend I thought you were… if you’re okay with stripping me of the rights we have fought so hard to get. Please let us know if you start a new podcast. I will be listening to all of your past episodes in the meantime!

Jeff-fWill miss themThese guys are lovely, and have kept me company for many years as I listened to them on my walks.

Waxy_MikeSuperb interview with Tim GunnWell done gentlemen! Your questions were very insightful and the time just flew by. Tim Gunn is truly the living/breathing definition of erudite!

Trixie’s DadNoThis has just run out of steam. It used to be one of my favorites, but it’s so boring now. Case in point? The Sam Taggert episode that was awful. Sam is usually funny. Dave is normally charming. Matt is also there. Together, it just didn’t work. And this lack of chemistry keeps happening over and over. Probably just retire this podcast.

BrentinSFInformative Cultural Insight with a Brilliant Sense of HumorAbsolutely love Dave and Matt and I never miss an episode. I was a preteen Dave Stan in the VJ/TRL years and have always appreciated his sense of humor and immense pop culture knowledge. Since I started listening to the podcast years ago, I’ve been equally entertained and educated by Matt’s unique point of view and I’m also in love his new AJLT podcast. Seeing him on WWH Live this week was like watching an old friend. This is the rare (dare I specify LGBT+/homosexual?) podcast that maintains a perfect balance of smart and snark.

BusterRudy5 Stars for sureGuys- the episode honoring Mike Nice was so beautiful. It had me sobbing along with you all and truly touched anyone who’s known the grief of losing someone so special. Dave, you handled the three with care and opened their thoughts and stories even deeper. So sorry for your loss Matt, please know that you did Mike proud through sharing his spirit with us ❤️
-
G--RegThank youThank you guys for the episode on Mike. It was beautiful to listen to.
-
BThomasNPress stopDave is great. Matt, who is like-able, needs to stop asking people when they’re going to start acting more heteronormative. Sometimes they run out of gay guests.
-
planet not ov the apesFun and informativeGreat guests. Great banter
-
brandonsaloyOne of my favsBoys DO NOT change the name of this show. It was enough of a shock to my system when you changed the theme song (I thought the sha-boop-dee-doos were much better than whatever is happening at the top of the show nowadays)

Proud American 2022DisappointmentI used to enjoy your podcast but I am disappointed in your latest episode when you spoke negatively about America. It’s okay to disagree with others and be upset about what is happening but this is the greatest country in the world. You both have had good careers in this country and if you are not happy that’s one thing, but to say what you did has turned me off and I will no longer listen to your show. One of my rights for living in the greatest country.

MerrariI’m back, we’re backI’ve fallen off from tuning in to my favorite podcast, this one: “Homophilia,” and while I’ve missed several unforgivable beats, this show clearly hasn’t. There’s a new theme song (that’s how long it’s been since I’ve done myself the favor of hitting play), new guests, new philia. “THE Wedding recap” episode is where I’m jumping back in b/c I deserved this level of self care and beautiful man love—congratulations to the Grassis. Congratulations to us all. <3

munchymullTHE Gayest of All TimeThank you for my dream guest Jonny McGovern! It was so good and so right!
-
Bridget PhillyAwkward pausesI really was looking forward to diving into this podcast but listening to a few of the interviews .. whoa the awkward pauses and Dave sometimes just has no response at all or continues with the conversation .. cringeworthy
-
usalove🇺🇸Danny 💖He speaks for all of us!
-
tmnibbeGreat guests!Fun content, great guests. Keep it light and fun, even if you don’t care about Jen/Friends ;)
-
aarckSubstandardThis show was recommended to me so I gave it a listen . The hosts ( if that’s what you can call them ) are veritably ingenuine towards their guests . Quite uncomfortable to listen to the awkwardness . I have to acknowledge my nonplussed by them having advertisers .
-
RuffArfRuffWOW! Or maybe not…I’m a big Dave/Matt fan & have followed this pod since its inception. So is it just me or do our dear hosts seem a little…not as inspired…with the crop of new guests being forced upon them now that they’re part of WOW? They barely talk now & sound so bored. I love WOW & all the Drag Race stuff but there are a thousand other places for that. Methinks Dave/Matt need to aim higher, like when they started this gig.

Alden8394Weird Energy and Awkward PausesI really, really want to like this podcast. It’s a great concept. I love Dave Holmes and - normally - he’s a great interviewer. He seems a bit off his game since the pandemic - awkward pauses, lack of research and a general disengagement - but part of that I liken to his weird chemistry with Matt (“Are you talking first?”) and not being in the same room. Matt has the same energy as Dave - sedate - but lacks the same pop cultural knowledge. Ultimately it feels like two really chill people interviewing someone but with the lack of research, insightful questions and awkward pauses, that comes across as boring vs. entertaining.
-
nycfluffTeatotalingI’m worried Dave is becoming an alcoholic during lockdown haha

jaytheginger45Episode 174👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

MrDaveboiOne of my top podcastsLove Matt and Dave! I recently saw the Reno 911 episodes featuring Dave and couldn’t stop laughing. My favorite part of the podcast episodes right now is when we hear the dogs barking in the background 🐶

Jaaasssoonn5 out of 5 Drag Queens RecommendI love this podcast so much I may finally buy some Mack Weldon underwear. Seriously though Matt and Dave are a fantastic duo and they get the best guests. Although I’m dying to know which are the ones they always hint at who weren’t as friendly/easy to talk to as the rest!
-
FrostynoleSuperbLook forward to having Matt and Dave in my ears every week! Haven’t missed an episode yet!
-
P_Starling23Love this podcastMatt and Dave are my weekly touchstones into the world of entertainment, LGBTQIA+ artists and personalities, and life in general. I look forward to their weekly insights into topics that range from highly introspective to purely whimsical. I will say, though, that the recent episode with Joey Graceffa was a quick FFWD to the next guest...oof.
-
ladyd73One of my favoritesMatt and Dave have been a shining moment during these crazy times. Each week they bring a new guest and great stories to life. I love Dave’s pop culture references... “We’ve Got it Made” a few weeks back and Matt with his chain and full on MTTM look on Insta. So glad I found this podcast.. keep it coming guys
-
spencercherryWhat beautiful menLove meeting their friends
-
A liberal fanA light in dark times...every week!Matt and Dave have such great rapport and an honest, witty perspective on pop culture, relationships and life in general. Queerness not required to enjoy!
-
geoglanz5 stars for the program, but.....I love this program and all the wonderful and fun guests. I generally love the candid and probing style of the hosts, they are usually engaged and interested. This week’s episode they doubled down on some recent (I think it was the Carson Kressley interview, it was painful) bad and rude behavior. They blame pandemic Zoom problems for their lack of preparation and interest. Sometimes it seems like they walk off and do household chores mid interview. Matt has to ask questions off the top of his head while Dave finishes the morning dishes or throws a ball for the dog. Ok, that being said, it is a unique and usually fun listen to cultural icons. Well done (usually). Now please go apologize to Mr. Kressley

TyfgnmEven too annoying to use for TortureThere’s a bridge that needs these two and their fecal smeared tent. NIMBY. Best of luck LA adjacent neighborhoods

heyitsgavinraySecondhand embarrassmentI cannot handle the long pauses, the lack of knowledge about guests, and the lack of genuineness.
-
AllieeshkaLove it!The quarantine content we all need and love <3

Magical smurfLove you both!!!You just round off my week all the time!! Best duo out there!! Can’t wait to get to see you both live one day! You have both inspired me to start my own podcast. Who knows if I’ll have the audience you have but I’m motivated and it’s thanks to you both! Stay safe and keep being awesome!!

courtneyinLAThey love people, and it's contagiousI gave this podcast a try because I had read Dave's book, Party of One, and loved it. I've now been listening daily and am so into it. I don't recognize the names of many of the guests they talk to, but I've learned not to care--I just click on an episode and wait to fall in love with the person, which I always do! Mostly because Dave and Matt love the person, and it comes across. They ask good questions, they cover interesting ground, you learn neat things about the guest and you end up caring about them and wanting to go watch all their work. During this stressful pandemic time, listening to an episode is like hanging out with friends, and I come away from each episode with my faith in humanity reaffirmed. Can't recommend it enough.
-
00R0ckStar00Do you even want to do this?Loved this show but now it’s full of awkward pauses and non-reactions to what the guests are saying. Makes me so uncomfortable.
-
d4f2t6love this podcast!“bitchsesh” was the gateway drug that lead me to this podcast! loved matt as a guest on there and was thrilled when he was paired up with dave (who i’ve enjoyed since his veejay days!) i love the chats and life updates and of course the interviews are great! this podcast is literally the only thing i miss about my commute now that i work from home!
-
Jfoust79Looking for a new voice crush?Check out Matt and Dave for your listening pleasure. Great guests, witty banter, juicy celebrity details. Plus, if it’s 5:00pm PST and you are in your front yard with a cocktail, you are sharing in spirit with Dave!
-
BearingtonJamesMuch loveNeed this podcast more than ever...the positivity, real-ness, and a welcomed escape from quarantine.

Drewben71Like catching up with friends (lowercase f)As a fan from the beginning, I can't more highly recommend HOMOPHILIA as a weekly podcast. Dave Holmes and Matt McConkey streaming into your earbuds every week is like having a socially-distant catch-up with smart, funny and pop-culturally aware friends, who always make me happy. While not every guest is a homerun, I tune in for the banter between the two of them. I love how they compliment each other, and there is no better off-the-cuff host than Dave. They keep me entertained, informed and enlightened. As a special bonus, having them check-in weekly during the pandemic has been a lifesaver. THANK YOU!
-
StageManagerAlanBroadening my worldMatt and Dave keep me a little more current and a lot better in the know. I’m learning more about queer culture and more about my community. Also, Matt likes Jennifer Aniston. Introduced to this via JVN and glad to find a podcast that entertains and teaches. But also I do remember Dave from MTV.
-
GB in BKWhat happened?I used to love this show but lately it feels like Dave and Matt are completely disengaged. Dave inevitably disappears halfway through the interview, and Matt asks questions like he's checking off a checklist, barely listening to the guest's response. It's painful, especially when the guest provides a thoughtful, heartfelt answer that is met with silence, and then Matt moves on to the next question. You can do better guys!!
-
KendalButlerLessI’m a longtime listener, but I feel sorry for some recent guests. The awkward silences and seeming disinterest is uncomfortable.
-
I Get JokesUsed to be great but......the barking dog is SO distracting. And a little research and structure would be great. Dave should lead the interviews and Matt should take a backseat, as he struggles to remain engaging and develop a strong through line without becoming a sycophant.
-
Dixie FanMaybe do a littel research?I am an avid listener to this podcast, but I was embarrassed for both hosts while listening to E142 w/Bob the Drag Queen. There was a clear lack of research done about Bob's as if no prep whatsoever went into this interview. As a podcaster, not knowing that Bob does his own RPDR podcast is inexcusable. Bob clearly knew you didn't do your homework and it showed.

Queer Person of Color50% GreatI’ve been a listener for a couple of years, and I think this pair is mismatched. Dave Holmes is an excellent interviewer - seasoned, knowledgeable, articulate, thoughtful, and a great listener. Matt, on the other hand, always seems as though he didn’t know he’d be speaking that day and is making everything up as he goes along. Moreover, every studio episode is recorded with Matt’s dog in the room, so we’re guaranteed to hear the dog rustling around, which seems fully unnecessary. I’d enjoy this podcast so much more with Dave flying solo or paired with a more veteran (and interesting) cohost.

iamdavidjayI like to pretend we are all friends LOLThese guys make conversation so easy -- I look forward to each new episode because it's like catching up with people you genuinely like and want to chat with. The guests are not always familiar to me, so I'm usually excited to learn about and hear from someone new who I might have otherwise never heard of. Also, it's obvious that Matt and Dave truly like each other -- and that they enjoy doing this podcast together - that really comes through. Love it! Keep it coming!
