JoypebbleToo Aimless and DisappointingSurprisingly, I was bored and disappointed. Meet The Author is like a sleek airplane without a good pilot. The artists are all attractive in that they certainly pulled me into a seat to listen but, as with most very creative people out of their medium and without guidance, they flounder, wander and are quite disappointing. Some normally interesting people just wander aimlessly when left alone. The series badly needs a really good interviewer who knows each artist’s work. Canned, off-the-shelf- questions offer little for the various artists to generate interest with their answers. A star-filled movie still needs a good director, a brilliant author needs a good editor, and these interviews need a talented interviewer. It just isn’t enough to toss a talent in front of a microphone without a really strong interviewer. Interview talent is the missing ingredient here. These sessions need a lot more support and are major disappointments for lack of direction. ---Gary

TheBeradEegad, the Onion episode was awful...Love the podcast in general, but the Onion episode was unacceptable. I am all for crude humor, but crude without the humor is just stupid and offensive. Should be yanked.

spessbOnion edition was horribleIn person I am sure it was wonderful, but it was an audio-video presentation and so the listener misses most of the jokes as they are visual. Very bad. I was disappointed.

Ramble RedheadGreat showI think this is a great way to learn more about your favorite authors - especially enjoyed the shows with James Patterson and Alan Alda

REReaderAlan AldaWhat a charming talk--and very interesting. Alan Alda seems to have discovered the essence of Zen meditation--being totally in the moment....

Hugh Jim BissleAlan AldaSome of you may never have seen him in the TV series M*A*S*H, his eloquence and stunning ability to go deep into a character only goes to show how deep this man can be. He's great in comedies too, Manhattan Murder Mystery is a fav of mine.

hep2468Mr. Martinwow, very cool interview, and great overall idea. hearing a fantasy author who seems to know real, conflicted, complicated people and cites faulkner was totally unexpected. can we expect more?

MargiColbert '08Great podcast series! Stephen Colbert's reading is my favorite. Download Colbert's hysterical audiobook "I Am America And So Can You"—you won't be disappointed.
-
OrionMPGreat podcastThe only times I had heard Alan Alda outside of his acting, he was acting like a typical Hollywood liberal. I was thinking that the podcast with him would just be him on a political tangent but it turned out to be really illuminating and, as he seeked, meaningful.

kyleharharmy 2 favsthese 2 have got to be two of my favorite actors/celebrities whatever you want to call them, of all time. Alan Alda is so well spoken and informed, i am almost done with his book which i would definetly recommend. Stephens show just breaks all stereotypes and the fact that he can sell a cast for thousands is a true test of his influence...would definetly recommend both.
