Great real world home automation podcast
If you like home automation, you definitely fit into the geek category. The show has three hosts with different personalities. They make their show fun to listen to so you don’t feel like you are reading some boring web site review. I have been working with home and office automation products for close to 40 years. I really like this podcast. They have recommend products that I hadn’t previously heard of that I now use all the time and truly love. Sometimes specs of a product don’t match up to real world expectations. Unlike most review sites that sample a product, they actually use the products in their homes long term so you get a real world perspective and comparisons to other products they have used. Often times they give updated feedback weeks or months later about a product they previously discussed. The show is definitely worth listening to. I look forward to every new episode. One extra bonus, if you financially support to the show, you get access to their slack channel. This is a great resource to get advice from other people who work with home automation.

Good and mediocre, but not bad
I enjoy hearing the news, and about the latest products. But they occasionally stumble over things I'd expect them to know.

    Great source
of the latest in home technology. The new format with news headlines works well. Interviews with industry leaders are always enlightening. I have listened every week since the beginning, and I always learn something useful. Keep up the good work!

Great podcast for the smart home crowd
For anyone with Smart Home interests, I highly recommend this weekly podcast. Jason and Seth are extremely knowledgable, highly engaging, yet come across as relatable and easy-going guys. I have learned a ton by listening to their podcast for the past year, and I find it just as enjoyable a show now that I’ve progressed well beyond my early days as a smart home novice.

Great show for any tech nerd
I subscribe to about a dozen tech related podcasts, especially in the fields of Home Automation and IOT. This and “Home On” by the DMZ are the ones I look forward to the most. Solid episodes week after week and never too long or too short.

    Geared towards high end installation
As someone who has recently dove into home automation, I scoured the Internet looking for podcasts, and unfortunately found few, but hometech.fm came up quite a bit. I've listened to 15 or so, and the hosts really seem to know their stuff, however they seem to focus on what they install, which is of course upscale residential systems. That's perfectly valid, but at least in my opinion, home automation "hobbyists" like myself are looking for info on lower end consumer level systems like Vera, smart things or Wink, and aren't as interested in wether or not Crestron is going to stay in the residential market, or how great Savant is. For example, the DIY Roundup episode went a full 30 minutes before they started talking about DIY systems. I'd love to be able to afford a professional system, but I think the people that can don't want to listen to podcasts about it. Again, this isn't a knock on the hosts, it's just my take on it. They seem like great guys that really know high end home automation.

SmartHome for One Percenters and Their Installers
Well done podcast, but not aimed for the mass consumer market. Both hosts are Control4 guys, and have interesting insights for people in that luxury market. For the rest of us who use SmartThings or Wink or Homeseer, this podcast is not insightful. Just listen to their March 2016 DIY podcast to see their bias on the consumer space.

Very helpful stuff, keep it going
I started listening to this after the Home On podcast. Very impressed with both, I am mostly interested in the pure technology and community applications of this, but your insights into Home Automation give me ideas and concepts that I weave into Enterprise Business technology presentations. Thank you, I especially like the episodes about HomeKit. Please keep the content coming, and looking forward to more of your thoughts.

    SmartHome Perspective from Pros
UPDATE 7/14/15 : Just wanted to udpated this review. Still listening and enjoying the weekly comment and commentary from Seth and Jason and guests on HomeTech of all types. If you are into the Smart Home this is a must of your playlist. Excellent podcast hosted by Seth Johnson and Jason Griffing. Both of the hosts are professional integrators and AV system designers. This show provides a professional's view and assessment of the emerging market of consumer devices for home control and home automation. Seth and Jason focus on the integration of devices so users can move beyond point solutions and focus on the end user experience. The show gets some great interviews with leaders (CTOs and CEOs) from new product companies.

Firsthand info straight from the trenches
Seth and Jason offer valuable experience, both from being pro integrators and operating, at times under fire in the trenches. Their unique perspectives are important for anyone interested in the smart home and IoT space.

    Foundations
I’ve been listening since around June and worked my way from Episode 1 to the latest Baby Watch show. I want you to know that I actually made the decision to start my own company and dive into the Automation market based on your wonderful reviews, expertise and general knowledge. I have a little background in Pro Audio/Video Recording & Presentation and the Home Automation world seems like it offers a lot of growth opportunity to explore. So, with my HomeTech Education, I went out and became a Savant Dealer and now I’m off and running. I listen to you guys every morning at the gym while I work out... and now that gym has become my first customer. I’m retro-fitting a very nice Savant Control system into their existing AV. Thank you very much for such a meaningful Podcast. It really has been helpful gleaning so much from your experience.

    Great podcast
Thanks for a great podcast. I am a home automation enthusiast so getting the perspective off 2 pros who work in the industry makes the show interesting and informative. Aside from Amazon delivering my home automation goodies your show is something I look forward too every week.

    Fantastic podcast!
Been looking for a great “home technology podcast” and I have indeed found it! Really nice that this isn’t another “every episode is an interview for someone with something to sell” podcast… They do have occasional interviews but mostly the shows are discussing the news and their thoughts. We don’t need more home tech “pitch podcasts”… What we need are more like this one!
