St.CrispinAds š¤ & What the heck...?I loved season 1. It's stuff that has been said before about MLM's but it needed to be said again and in a different way, especially at the time it came out. Season 2 was pretty good. Good info and a clear structure. This current season...idk. I'm hanging in there. But it seems more niche talk show than investigative journalism, which is disappointing. I don't get the structure at all. No real curiosity about the topics covered (which are a tad random...??), no real journalistic integrity or work done as in previous seasons. A lot of odd personal rambling and logic jumps in discussions. It's so sad bc season 1 was ball-busting, professional, and informative. What happened?? And can we please do something about the ads?? Since season 1, they've been overwhelming. I listen to a lot of podcasts and ads are necessary and they happen. But these seem excessive, and they happen at the absolute weirdest places in the broadcast. They literally cut the host off mid-sentence, or cut an interview right before the last 5 words are spoken of a statement. And there are a few eps that have ads breaks within just a few mins of each other, FOR THE SAME ADS. So, so odd. Very distracting and frustrating to the point that I just don't want to keep listening at times.

Megan LTBThe first podcast I recommend to othersFive stars for this podcast, ever since season 1. Iām currently dying at / highly appreciate how Jane Marie is introducing advertising breaks. Thank you all for your work!!
-
pinacolodaLoved the mentalist! What a fun episode! (and interesting to hear about John Edwards, Tyler and Theresa- they are such quacks!) thank you for the pod!
-
Bradlee_Good butā¦.The content of the podcast is great, but the amount of ads is overwhelming. Ads are a natutal part of podcasts, podcasters deserve to be paid, but the content can be continually diminished by an excess. You might want to savor a moment, but here, you never will. You wonāt have the opportunity.

ElenMarResearch and vulnerability1. The Rachel Hollis part was poorly researched - Rachel received TONS of backlash on her divorce because her and her husband had been charging people thousands and of dollars for marriage boot camps while theirs was privately falling apart. So, she was scamming people. Jane could and should have googled it. 2. Thereās an attempt to talk about personal issues but any vulnerability is hidden behind layers of millennial cringe humor. For example - the best part of my life is cigarettes and scrolling tik tok I canāt give that up! The best version of myself would be so scary! Iād be evil! And all of us (including the husband interviewing her) are like, huh? Can we be serious for like a second? People respond well to vulnerability. Like actual vulnerability. For example - Iām struggling with my marriage and weight loss in xyz painful ways. Not - āI have high cholesterol! I love Cheetos! LOLZā youāre not making jokes because you carry pain. We all carry pain, to be clear. She cant talk about hers. So why did she make a podcast about it?????

JMFT IND.FAVORITE SHOW!This is my favorite podcast. The MLM season is still my forever favorite.
-
hit me with a flowerthis show is giving curiosity, unique, necessary & thoughtfulI always look forward to new episodes & it never disappoints. I hope the weekly format lasts!
-
miss cghUpdateI am so, so confused by this season. After the life coach season, I was pretty unsure about where the pod was going. This current season? Look, I like the idea of covering different topics, but some of these interviews are just not hitting the mark. Some of them feel more like rambling conversations rather than interviews. I had trouble even getting through and finishing it. Also, on the Dirty John episode, I found it odd that there was just an assumption the audience would know what this was about? Iām going to stick it out in hopes things turn around, but if youāre a new listener, just stick with season 1

AvoidoidThe āalways onā format doesnāt work. This was such a great podcast. The previous seasons were the excellent journalist dives into problematic and predatory industries. I get that making those things is time consuming and expensive but the new seasons are just people complaining about how awful the world is now. Which it is! I agree! But if that kind of cultural criticism isnāt done well, itās just tedious and depressing. Which is what this show is now.

Khariklo MillerJuicy, engaging, smart, fun, provocative, *highly* listenableFrom the "Banned in the USA" episode: "by banning these words, you can effectively ban reality. You can pretend reality doesn't exist because there's no way to measure it." Woof. Concise and topical - we need to be saying these things and talking about them. I don't always see things the way the hosts do, but I love the room they make for disagreement and examining difference - I find that encouraging. We need that! I always jump on a new episode right away.

Michael Showalters Evil Twinincredibleso happy to have jane marie in my feed every week. dream come true

The Food and Yoga ChickI ā¤ļøāš„ Jane MarieShe's just everything. Smart, funny, actually relatable, beautiful, and best of all, she tells such important stories! Also, I live hearing Jane Marie talk, laugh, and joke with her team while making the podcast. Please keep making this podcast!
-
Ray Ray DubyaAll Gen X women need to listen to The DreamOccasionally hilarious, Marie also has healthy outrage about the outrageous stuff. Real long form journalism. I love listening to everything she says.
-
laura840The Ambition MonsterThis episode was so f-ing cathartic. THANK YOU BOTH!
-
InaweofmykidsIām sadLoved this podcast the first couple seasons. Unfortunately, I am now done. Free Luigi? Shame on you Jane.

Nickname908Format change is great!Iām loving this latest season and the weekly interview format change. I thoroughly enjoyed previous seasons as well but am loving the deep dive into specific topics related to the āAmerican dreamā.
-
RickyssofakeLazyI only stopped from giving 1 star because of the previous seasons that had structure. This current season is about nothing, which would be fine if at least the host showed some journalistic interest in each episodeās topic. Instead sheās just interviewing whoever and not really trying to reach anything in particular, resulting in conversations where the host jokes and fawns cloyingly for the guestās approval. Her voice aside, this is really hard to get through
-
a lil lost lolLove but confusedEdited: I love your voice and your laugh, Jane Marie xx also #freeluigi š©· I love the dream. Iām a huge fan. Iāve listened to every season and have been here since day one. But what is going on during this current season? I canāt get a grasp for what they are doing during this season. The interviews are relatively interesting. But I donāt understand what they have to do with MLMs. Iām not suggesting that they only have to stick to the MLM topic. However, this season just seems to be all over the place. Maybe I am missing the point of this season? But missing the point or not, Iām confused. I do love to see how much they have grown over the years and how many people they are reaching. Love you Jane Marie x

Tocya23WonderfulThank you for the podcast. I enjoy its honesty. While I have enjoyed every episode the most current one really spoke to me. Thank you for the honest conversation about people who pretend to work hard for what they have when they have every advantage. Many other moments in the episode also resonated deeply. Also love Janeās voice. I remember when a hostess on TAL or one of those shows was getting flack for vocal fry. Commentors need to get over themselves. Their comments about your voice does not make them special, intelligent or interesting. Keep up the good work.
-
mypreciousssssThis Podcast is a GemCurrently my favorite podcast. I look forward to every episode. The topics are relevant and important right now. Jane Marie is a great interviewer and wicked smart. Sheās also a delight to listen to and I love how her personality comes through in each episode.
-
Listener405Great podcastI love this podcast. The host is smart and funny. She does a fantastic job of entertaining and educating. Ps-I love her voice (not that it matters).
-
Avie48079Never Lose Your Accent, Michigander!Great show, great voice, long live the mid-Michigan accent.
-
BrishinitReview of Jane in particularI thoroughly enjoy this show and look forward to every episode. But I particularly love Janeās voice and find her laugh charming and comforting. Jane should be very pleased with herself for the quality job she and the entire little everywhere team does on The Dream.

R. Thoravax convo lacks nuanceRe. The RFK episode- the discussion about vaccines lacks nuance, especially the disparaging comment about nobody getting novacaxā I know so many disabled & elderly people who have opted for it because they were actually harmed or at risk of harm from the MRNA covid vax. When you deride people who are skeptical of vaccines or have had negative experiences, it only pushes them into the clutches of RFK, MAHA, etc. and away from public health ethos. Naomi Kleinās DoppelgƤnger provides an important lesson on this.
-
1 Hungry DogLove itIām really enjoying every interview this season. Itās become less focused, but the larger theme is related to previous seasons, more zoomed out. The cranks may find Janeās voice āannoyingā but I love it!
-
El jlglke#freeluigi?Really gross to condone cold blooded murder.
-
monicarosleyWhat is happening to this podcast? This was a great podcast the first 2 seasons. I canāt even remember what season 3 was about so that isnāt saying much and I havenāt even made it through a full episode of season 4. What happened? I feel like Jane needs to leave politics out of her podcasts and stick with what works. Unfortunately, Iāll never know if she does since I am unsubscribing
-
bgirl34Used to be great! The first couple of seasons were entertaining and made me think. But the latest season is terrible! One-sided stories and conspiracy theories. What happened?!!!
-
Chief JeffroCanāt support murderI was all in and really enjoyed this podcast for a while but the most recent one about healthcare crossed a line for me I canāt go back from. Your guest made a comment about needing Luigi to kill more CEOs and I just lost my breath. I perhaps could have continued as you need guests from all across the spectrum but then Jane signed off with āFree Luigi.ā Murdering heads of corporations because we donāt like our current multi payer health care system canāt ever be a consideration. That man had a wife. And children. And if thatās ok, where does it stop? Can right wing fanatics kill OB/Gyns for performing legal abortions too? I canāt believe you went there, Jane.

Little in FLSeason 4 (SMH Yikes!!!)Just listened to āHealth vs Wealthā. It might be my last episode. Like many other reviews Season 1&2 were really excellent, Season 3 was bad but I listened to the full season anyway out of loyalty. Season 4 is nearly unlistenable. Jane is doing a terrible job interviewing guests. Sadly season 4 both the host and the guests are not to be taken seriously anymore. Health vs wealth may be my last episode. She brings on a guest whose credentials are impressive (when the guest herself lists them) that including former mayor candidate in LA. But after listening to half the interview I had to stop the episode and actually look up the guest. THIS PERSON got less than 4% of the vote for mayor of n that election. And then the guest and host ended the podcast with āfree Luigiā!!!! A blow kiss to the guy that murdered Brian Thompson. Iām no fan health Insurance companies but that is offensive and tasteless. But sadly completely in line with all of season 4.
-
Hope 0414HuhIām not sure what I am even listening to anymore. Week to week you have no idea what topic youāre going to get for the episode. Feels like a money grab unfortunately. Just had to throw something together to get that ad revenue smh Sad since the first 2 seasons were so good and the third has been nothing but a mess.
-
ilovebeingadadDear ConfusedI know itās hard switching from the usual format. I urge you to do your chill and take the time to listen to each episode. Iāve learned some useful things. XO
-
SDSSTLā#freeluigi?? GROSSMarch 20 episode ends with both guest and host parroting āhashtag free Luigi.ā So gross to condone murder after an entire episode begging listeners to have mercy on āthe unhoused.ā I canāt even with this contradictory nonsense. This podcast has officially jumped the shark. Byeee⦠šš»

Wannabe slothConflictedLoved the first, second and third season, and part of the 4th as well. Itās just getting a little confusing, especially the episode about the Dirty John (?). Iām not American, I have no clue what they were talking about for 99% of the time. I recommended this podcast to a friend and she loved it at first as I did, but like me is a little confused now. Iāll probably keep listening, i just hope this review comes out as constructive criticism.
-
Bing BongUsed to like this showI just don know the point of the show anymore
-
RobbiepoliticoBabies not having babiesSad story of a girl without intact family drifting from one extremist group to another ideological or abusive extremist group, on various ends of the political spectrum, seeking a sense of belonging. She can never walk completely away from any of them and has continued mutually abusive relationships with them. Warning: excessive expletives.

Misplaced Ads Ruin EverythingListen to Seasons 1 and 2Seasons 1 and 2 are fantasticāwell researched and written, with a personal connection between the topic and host. Season 3, by contrast, feels too off the cuff for my tastesāthereās little to no structure for the interviews, some interviewees are well prepared but many are not, and thereās no strong throughline for the season other than being scammed or duped (which could potentially work if the episodes were a bit more substantive). The first two seasons prove this team can make a compelling and informative podcastāIāll keep checking in with hopes they return to their roots.
-
Canāt Sleep TonightDirty Dirty JohnVery confusing. Iām not sure if it was the questions or that she was so inarticulate. Wish you could have got her focused.
-
sandy-chanMight be too far goneāOne thing about me is I like to go to restaurants?ā What am I listening to??? Iāve never been Jane Marieās biggest fan but Iāve stuck with the show since the beginning because I felt like it was well-researched and told interesting stories. Iām sorry but this season is a mess. First of all, the snark is out of control, and the interviews just go on and on and on. Feels very unfocused. I keep listening because I hope theyāll get back to what was once an insightful show, but Iām not sure Iāll be subscribed much longer.
-
Kadence404Had to amend my previous 5 star ratingLoved the first two seasons. They were excellent, well researched with a coherent narrative. Thatās unfortunately no longer the case. Whatever this podcast is now, itās not the least bit interesting. Iām annoyed I wasted my time listening to a whole boring interview before realizing there was no longer research for a larger story being told. If I wanted to listen to boring interviews on topics that have already been covered there are better interviewers out there than this host. Pass.
-
surfsidlawAllPerfect voice to listen to. Very knowledgeable about subjects & research is on point. Often shares personal experience which is very pertinent. Iām a fan
-
hunter biden stanGreat content!! / so-so editingI love this show and itās so well researched and informative. I am so happy the latest season covers abortion ā THANK YOU. Very needed always, especially in our current landscape. My only complaint is the editing. On a few episodes, the ads start mid-conversation. I was confused and kind of surprised, based on the podcast. A brief, āweāre going to take a quick breakā before the ads would have made for an easier listen.
-
PoddylikearockstarHard passJust another snarky liberal. Gross. No thanks.
-
GBGBGB42Jane Marie is a great interviewerIāve heard about this podcast for years but never listened, because, well, I already listen to enough podcasts. But I listened to the episode on Midtown AA, because Iām a sober person in DC and people are talking about it, and I was so impressed with Jane Marieās smart and compassionate interviewing that Iāve now started getting into the back catalog. Sheās very talented. Also, I donāt know who is editing, but they are doing a great job, too. Recommend.
-
RoseConnellyI used to love this podcastBut I just canāt listen anymore. Itās like hearing an airhead talk to another airhead about something they donāt really care about but have an opinion on because they were told to feel a certain way. Thereās no real curiosity about the subject matter, just judgment and comments like, āI guess, people think the mRNA vaccine could like, change their DNA, or somethingā¦? I donāt know. (Nasally laughter)ā Ok? What do they actually think? Why do they think that? That would be more interesting to talk about. I canāt tell if the host is playing dumb or if she really doesnāt care to do any research. I mean itās unlistenable, truly.
-
queueaOne of my favorite podcastI love this show so much. Jane is incredibly smart, compassionate, and thoughtful in exploring the issues related to what are essentially scams or cults.
-
praxis78AmazingLove the writing and storytelling

Grace Katherine MathewsBrilliant & AddictiveJane is a masterful interviewer and storyteller!!!

Wine_Lover33Great ContentI have not listened in awhile and recently came back. I am liking the new format. The episode on PE was intriguing and informative. Thanks for providing great content. I also love Janeās voice (not in a creepy way :).
