Brittany-7Lots of sources, trustworthy scrutiny, fun/silly energyThey always have over 80 sources and discuss the credibility of the studies they use. They cater to everyone’s perspective. The energy is so fun, I find myself listening to episodes over and over lol. Great storytelling and very interesting topics. I love how deep they go too - they don’t leave me with a ton of questions about the validity of the takeaways. I feel like I can actually trust them. Thanks, Science VS!

jakegursteinWanted to like itTo be quite honest, there are many episodes of this podcast that I love. However, it seems that whenever there is a science question with a political angle, Wendy or the other cohosts have a predetermined answer which they want to prove accurate. Then they bring very scanty evidence for that theory without trying to delve into both sides. And that just makes me question the veracity of all of the episodes. I’m sorry Wendy, I love the idea of the pod and some episodes are truly amazing, but I come here to listen to science, not politics.

CatsRisingScience vs PoliticsBy chance, I was scrolling through the reviews here and saw a lot of one stars directed at the Feb. 2024 “The War on Science” episode. Obviously, I had to listen to it. And… it’s not wrong. Christianity is the main religion in the U.S. and, unfortunately, Donald Trump has used that to manipulate the voters. His campaign basically told people that if you don’t vote for him, you don’t love god, or god doesn’t love you, and that strikes deep terror within so many. Controlling people through fear is nothing new, not even in America, but editing and limiting public knowledge is a new, and very real, development in the Trump administration. The exorbitant cost of a higher education has already resulted in a population of ignorant, uneducated people that believe whom ever is speaking the loudest and most persistently. Loud doesn’t equal correct, in case you didn’t know. For some reason, people just can’t see that Trump is a mini Kim Jong Un. All he cares about is manipulation, attention and power. Maybe people don’t want to accept that they’ve helped this happen. They’re too invested and can’t turn back now. Cognitive dissonance at its finest. Really, I just wanted to balance out the ratings on an excellent podcast that deserves positive recognition, but now I’m depressed.

Luxx989Don’t get political nowI have been listening for years, I think I have heard every episode. I am usually impressed by the care that is taken to inform both sides on controversial topics. This latest “War on Science” played more like a paid attack ad. I don’t agree with everything that Trump is doing, but I feel a discussion is owed at the very least. There has definitely been wasteful and fraudulent spending going on, probably in all areas of the government. To just scream that they are defunding science is just wrong, and not in the spirit of the show that I consider one of the best podcasts out there. It’s just not that simple.

MyNameIsKeithGreat podcastI have never reviewed a podcast before but I felt compelled to after the War on Science episode. Fantastic overview and I’m deeply saddened by what is going on and what damage will be done to science research, women’s health, and that of my and other LGBTQIA+’s health.

Kelsey_A“Orwellian”I have enjoyed this show in the past. I have listened to episodes on a wide range of topics and have enjoyed most of them. Knowing that my general political bias skews differently from the host & some of the guests on this show, I have still listened with open ears (and mind). I firmly believe people should regularly engage in a variety of topics & hear from a variety of perspectives. This is what helps us remain empathetic, thoughtful humans. Even though I have disagreed on MANY topics and “final takeaways” from this show, I still choose to continue to listen because, well, I want to hear what people I disagree with have to say. The episode “the War on Science” is what has finally made me lose my patience. It revealed such an absurd, close-minded take on what is going on with the United States federal funding. The fact that Wendy called the blurb on federal websites “Orwellian” made me audibly laugh in disbelief, especially after the silencing, truth-hiding, and unreasonable shaming we have been living through. I perceive that this is the erasure of Orwellian subjugation upon our people. We do not live with a hive mind and the American people should be able to express when we disagree with having immorality and yes, evil, forced upon us. After sitting through (and thinking through) so much of this podcast, this is the first episode I feel compelled to skip, and may even unfollow.

MIAHHA8Thank youLong time listener to science vs but had to finally give it the 5 star review it has always deserved after listening to the episode on the War on Science. As an NIH funded researcher, I can confidently say that you covered the essential points of what is happening with accuracy and precision. Thank you for spreading this important message.

GraycristinaVery disappointedI am not liberal or republican but boy, you guys went all the way liberal with the last episode about Trump is after science. Very interesting this episode didn’t have another guest who has a different perspective from the ones interviewed (outside of the government), independent perspectives? No research about public perception when a new party wins an election or what about the POSITIVES and negative impacts on policies when one party is in the government? Nope. Nothing. The idea that this administration is against women is just so laughable. Why wasn’t there any interviews with public women figures that may have a very different perspective? None of that either. For claiming to be a fact/science based podcast, there were a lot of opinions and bias without any scientific based. I thought this was an episode to explore if this administration or any is really after science and if there are social research that can help us to understand our own bias in a divided country. Nope, just liberals freaking out about the end of their world because Trump is evil and God please help us all. Contributing to the endless supply of division in this country. There is always positive and negative aspect of change but not here. We are doomed according to you. No wonder there is such a distrust with media like this.

DubExpressThis is not scienceThis is politics. Ideology. Garbage podcast. I would expect a science podcast to know biology but sadly they don’t. After several episodes I can confidently say not one of them is grounded in science.
-
FoaoduxjdGood content, Annoying MusicI like the show but it would be amazing to have a legit jingle/theme song rather than the harsh robotic 3 notes in the beginning. I find myself turned off by the intro music and quit the whole pod.

KkyiopOnce a decent podcastStarted out as a good podcast. It has always had some confirmation bias from its data selection, but it did at least go through multiple view points in its first 1-2 seasons. Thereafter, there was a clear data selection bias and was seeking out more entertaining or salacious topics to stay entertaining. Less about science topics and more about revenue generation. In doing so, It became a middle left leaning podcast that has clear political bias. I’m center on politics - and the clear bias reduces the credibility and loses listeners who could be persuaded by honest and accurate information, but by their selection bias they reduce their reach and create a liberal agenda echo chamber that I really don’t care to listen to anymore.

JfhbcfjvdvWoke lies“Trump is trying to erase women” 🤦🏽♀️

NINARK19Fun with FactsOne of my favorite podcasts of all time. I always find myself laughing and learning. Gives me lots of fun facts to share with my friends when we fall down that Tik Tok rabbit hole. Absolutely recommend to everyone!

Adjust audio pitch settingEar piercing vocal pitch can we fix the audio settings please?I want to listen to this and the content seems really interesting informative but I CANNT handle the pitch of the hosts voice. I think I’ve been trying to get through an episode for years now and there’s just a point at which it’s not worth it cause my ears are screeching and burning please can you fix the settings on the mic or step back from it and please please stop interrupting the other person it makes everything worse really please I’m sorry this sounds dramatic and I hope you’re not offended because I don’t mean to I just needed to say that just constructive critism coming from a really want to be fan!

Mikasa is da rulerIncredible. The best podcast, I have listened to it before bed for the last 4 years. Please make more episodes. Only respect for the best.
-
...jolene...Can’t get past…The vocal fry. Too much. Way too much. Top it off with Australian accent and I wish I could just block this show from my feed altogether. It’s hardly science to begin with. It’s just giddy banter in the guise of being something intelligent.
-
your trying to anoy meThe voice of the hostessIm so glad to experience the less harshness of her voice, much less annoying
-
officious buttressReal science and informationIn an age of pseudoscience and disinformation.

NPR fan03Love the showAbsolutely one of my favorite potcost I listened to every single episode. Some of the episodes multiple times 😊.

TkotooNarcissist; Are We Surrounded??Pleasingly, a little roudy, and some if not all (Australian) in your room … always love the mix! But in this cast you described some people I actually know, yet at same, I also realize this is a word some (you -not included) like to throw around. It’s someone who’s always putting their suggestions over, or ahead of yours or giving guidance w/o request or when you’re not loss or in any need. It’s like it’s a burden to them to get all others ‘up-to-parr’ with them. Dangerously Amazing. And the skit with the father yelling at child, and mom defending, always comfortably funny. You learn not to mess with her child, fast. You always share the relationship, but not the kid, unless TRULY worthy. - s.jxn - ga

-
vze22jjwA Grey Rock, Not Dwayne JohnsonI enjoyed the technique that I’ve felt like I’ve used before but really enjoyed the name given. Getting into fact based, logical arguments with folks like these is rarely worth it. Stay still as a rock
-
Bill in PghBest route into hot science topicsThis podcast makes it fun while you learn about very relevant science topics. The host/producers/guests draw you in and you won’t feel pandered-to.
-
gxgjjkkkfgMostly goodOften lets politics affect postulation. (I agree with most of their politics, but is can get soapboxy and veer away from “science”) The research component is great and fun but there is a narrative/intent that surfaces by the end of many episodes rather than letting science be science. Otherwise it’s fun.
-
XXVI👍👍👍Upbeat and fun approach to science.
-
bnachreinerGreat Science PodcastI appreciate the skeptical approach of Wendy and the Science Vs team. Thank you for all the fact checking and reading you all do for each episode!

freedom fightersBeen Listening since 2016Great Podcast but, sometimes I think all the guests are just Wendy doing different voices, haha! Anyway; well researched and informative.
-
AaaavvvvvvvvvHow Livermore found a killerThis story was extremely sad. You delivered it like a couple of kiddy teenagers. I’m sure the loved one’s of those who Efran murdered would not share your sense of fun. It was offensive!!! This was the 1st time I listened to your podcast. I won’t be back!!!
-
Kaliber50Very Enjoyable!Informational and to the point plus Wendy is hilarious at times. This is my #1 science podcast because it covers topics within a time frame that is neither too long nor too short while keeping with the integrity of the research that is required in each topic she covers.
-
SkinewyorkA fav for this podcast lover!I am a big fan of podcasts, and Science Vs is one of my all time favorites. Timely topics approached with a sense of humor and a scientific eye towards the evidence, I always learn so much while being entertained. It amazes me how almost every episode I start, I immediately realize I had been wondering about that topic!
-
DIYgameguyUp beat and informativeIn a world where everyone has a hot take based on what amounts to what they are feeling at the moment, it’s great to have a good natured, well researched take on science, which is a continual process of bettering our knowledge, not a sound bite of a convenient answer to stop thinking and get likes. Thank you to all the Science Vs team who do the real work it takes to go beyond the headlines and fads and look at the processes and context of studies and research to more accurately access our best current understanding of issues in our complex and interconnected world.
-
SilverlininLove this smart and entertaining showSo fun and smart. This show is so interesting and educational. Wendy is awesome.
-
Ek Z.Balm for my Inner SkepticI love that the hosts and producers of this podcast are just as wary of the newest fad as I am. Grateful that others are putting in the research work for me! Would love an episode on red/blue light therapy and face mask products for your skin. Looking forward to more episodes!
-
YaiguToo GiggleyI had some hope that this podcast would be interesting but I couldn’t get over how much the hosts laughed and giggled throughout the episode. I listened as they chuckled while discussing how a serial killer murdered rest home residents and I couldn’t help thinking that if my family member had been one of the victims, I’d be very offended. I was put off by all the laughing. Not a fan
-
GlitterandTackNew Go-To PodcastThis is a great podcast that I have truly enjoyed binging since I discovered it a few weeks ago. The content and dialogue is excellent and whitty and the fact that you can look at citations is spectacular.

W.P.J.MurrayGood content, bad host voiceWendy Zukerman’s voice is incredibly irritating with a combination of annoying Australian accent and infuriating vocal fry.

#outlawredThe pill and musk? Why are we listening to E. Musk for actual science? He is all about the conspiracy theory
-
Username_Geothis show thinks Tucker Carlson is a “feminist icon” so imagine what their science reporting is likeI had to check my ears and the transcript when I heard this show refer to conservative Fox News host Tucker Carlson as a “feminist icon” in a show about, of all things, birth control. This is so incorrect I don’t even know where to begin and is actually offensive. Immediate unfollow and I doubt they are reporting correctly on science if they can’t even get a basic non-science fact like this correct. If I could rate zero stars I would.
-
CadillacjunkieGood subject matterToo bad they injected subjective facts on certain subjects instead of staying with neutral objective facts
