You're Booked

34

Welcome to You’re Booked, the podcast for literary nosy parkers who would like the chance to snoop around their favourite authors’ bookshelves.I’m Daisy Buchanan, your Book Inspector, and I’ll be asking our guests all about the first forbidden books they read under the covers, the beloved books they have borrowed, and never given back, and those impressive heavyweight hardbacks that make them look like intellectual giants – even though they couldn’t get beyond the first twenty pages. We’ll also be talking about what makes readers into writers, how our guests became book lovers and their favourite reading memories, all with a dash of intelligence and a dollop of irreverence. Our guests include Dolly Alderton, Nina Stibbe, Nikesh Shukla, and many more favourites from our own bookshelves.

    Best podcast for bookshelf snoops
Love to peruse your friends’ bookshelves, both for TBR ideas and for insight into their mindset? Then this podcast is for you. Daisy visits with a range of authors and is an excellent interviewer. She engages the guests and takes the conversations in funny and enjoyable directions. My only quibble is with the production. It would be great if Daisy and her guests had mics. Many times one person is near the mic and the other far enough away that it can be difficult to follow the conversation without cranking up, then cranking down, the volume. However, it’s always a tray when a new episode appears in the feed.

    Lovely
If you adore books and want to discover some different titles or hear interesting perspectives on some classics, you will love this. Daisy has a nice interview style. The theme music is the only thing I don’t like!

Interesting & perfect for a book worm but hate the music!
This was a wonderful little find, I loved the Elizabeth Day and Dolly Alderton episode and it’s wonderful for recommendations and to find out which of your favorite authors has the best lit taste. The music, however, is terribleeeee. The harpsichord is jarring and makes me think I’m watching some old, creepy, gothic BBC series.

good for people who love book talk
Lovely premise, interesting conversation. Could be tighter editing (some rambling, though that makes it fine for only half-paying attention). Please get rid of the jangly transition music - it’s quite jarring!
